- Here is Gene Ammons crushing it with his fat sound on "There Is No Greater Love"! The other solo transcription from this recording by Sonny Stitt can be found on the channel as well. A perfect short solo to study.

Sorry for the latest upload on monday for the first time in 6 years... but we had actually another transcription prepared, of Bird and Coleman Hawkins as duo transcription synched with the video (called "Ballade" in the Omnibook, but actually without title). Somehow that video got completely blocked due to copyrights, by a company that most presumably doesn't own the rights, but just claim rights on video's where it didn't yet get claimed by the truthful owners (kind of capitalising on copyrights "leakage" this way). That's almost two days work lost, but we'll add the pdf's of those transcriptions as an extra to our Sharp Elevenist tier on Patreon, of both Charlie Parker and Coleman Hawkins with transposition.
This is not to dismiss this absolutely great solo by Gene Ammons, which was planned as next transcription anyways. This is like the perfect solo etude, like almost written, but still so expressive and bluesey. What a fat sound Ammons had. The other solo, from Sonny Stitt on this recording had been posted some years ago on this channel. Superb as well!
Enjoy! / Jorre
0:23 is a beautiful lesson in time feel 🤯
Sonny stitt's solo next to this one is facching great as well. I préfère stitt's solo even though Gene's one is unbelievable
stitt was a monster kinda like a roy eldridge of bop tenor.
Yes. And Stitt takes off seamlessly right after him- like sharing a glass of water
Err wut?
Glass of water - now that’s what ya call a most peculiar analogy!
@@maisonMaple I meant it’s smooth
One of the greatest tenor solos of all time!
So laid back, great playing
Hi Jorre. Great solo and your transcription. Thanks man!!!
Yeah, that is a banging chorus!
there is no greater love than what I feel for... tangerines?
0:55-0:56 quoting Tangerine?
Yes I heard that.
Muito bom!!👏👏👏👏
👍🏽 very very good!
Thanks for posting. It's all in the phrasing. Just sightreading the transcription isn't enough. Imagine how much you would improve if you learned that solo by ear.
other soloist is sonny stitt!!!!
What album can I find this on?
Boss Tenors - Sonny Stitt and Gene Ammons
SUCH A GOOD ALBUM
I feel like he abstracted it too much
