- Salt is a fairly forgettable spy movie where Angelina Jolie is accused of being a mole. Probably plenty of sins in this thing. Let's find out.
Next week: atomic sins and space sins.
Remember, no movie is without sin. Which movie's sins should we count next?

This is one of those movies that make me think: "I could have sworn Cinemasins already sinned this".
This is one of those movies that makes me think… I know I’ve watched this but this tells me I remembered none of it.
@NinjaBearFilms I was about to write the exact same comment.
Niet
Just look it up, Not done yet.
me too, same reaction
0:42 As a German i'm surprised you even found one of the most dry and typicaly german humor jokes when searching for one!
For those curious, translation is: "Why does the Fish wear Glasses?" - "Because he has to read under water"
Yes, "Germans have no Humor" is a true stereotypes for a good reason, well deserved.
Prost & Cheers from Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps
Thx I appreciate the confirmation, also do y'all drink alot of beer??
@@CHICKEN_Lord617 Google Oktoberfest.
As a German myself, i can confirm and agree
Two hunters meet. Both are dead.
Aber er hat es gut ausgesprochen 😅
"Captain Holt is having way to much fun in this scene" 🤣🤣🤣
One of those movies l really enjoyed at the time, mostly because of the cast, but couldn't remember much of the plot until it got sinned.
Same 😅
Me to
Well, personally, I think salt is a very good seasoning 🧂
🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓
Yes but salt and pepper is better but I'm not push it! On ya if I was trying I would push it real good
Damn! Beat me to a salt seasoning joke! 💀
Couldn't agree more. Salt is a worthwhile seasoning.
Unfortunately, salt raises my blood pressure and so do u Cinema Sins.
Gotta be honest, this movie is the definition of "guilty pleasure".
Boooo
Literally every Angelina Jolie movie
I totally mistook this for movie where Jolie bends bullets! I almost got to the end thinking I don't remember any of this..."wanted"!
🤣
I always mix it up with Aeon Flux for some reason. I think it's because of the black hair since they apparently have nothing else in common.
Mrs Salt
Drinking game: Take a shot every time someone says “Evelyn” and “Salt”
Played it. Died.
0:42 - "Why is the fish wearing glasses?" "Because it has to read underwater"
May both sides of your pillow be cold tonight! :)
Thank you, i was searching for a comment translating wut was said out of curiosity, u have provided me the answer, i salute u😝
this is in my top 20 favorite movies OAT I use to watch this on repeat as a kid, and have been waiting on the sequel for years
13:30 I cannot believe you didn't sin the handcuff chains which are 3 FOOT LONG. I'm sure they might sell something like that for a BDSM club but I don't think the Secret Service or FBI walk around with those on their hip.
It was corporate casual that day, what can ya say?
@@motherplayer He could have had so much fun with that sin. "What else do you have in that pocket? Wait! I don't want to get demonetized."
We all know the FBI can get pretty freaky when they want to. Wait what?!? Oh, um nevermind. Lol
@@darcydoll437 Agent pulls out his BDSM cuffs and his partner says, "Hey there Charlie. I don't care what you do in your off-duty time but don't bring your _hobbies_ to work. O.k.?" 😀
I love that the german joke was an antijoke.
Listen I'm too lazy to use google translate so now you have to explain it to me
Stimmt genau, daran war nix witzig.
@@ggyugcxzzf Why does the fish have glasses on? - Because he has to read under water.
Does that help? I've been studying German for the past two years so I am excited to use it.
@thegoodcookie8904 yes! Thank you so much. It was bugging me for a bit. It's awesome being multilingual. Sorry for my terrible English
@@ggyugcxzzf your English is great! Better than my German!
0:43 Jeremy’s not reading the funniest joke in the world from Monty Python in german
I found Salt to be quite enjoyable but my God you have to suspend your intelligence a fair bit lol
Most modern Spy Films in a nutshell.. lol
I'd say that's most Spy movies basically ever.
As a german i thought you were vomiting while having a stroke
I am not a German but I agree 😂😂😂
8:23, just once, I’d like to see a character in an action movie try that in a slow moving vehicle, only to find out that they’re in a manual car and that engine just burns out.
"This guy looks like a member of the film crew" - that's accurate, however, I got the outfit direct from our Langley advisor who said "the guy driving her out of NK would look like a senior NGO official, the kind we see every day on the streets of Karachi." Literally told me what to wear. Scarf was mine, which I wore one on the streets of Kashmir to keep dust out of my mouth. Later in the film I'm driving them away (flashback before the bus scene) and nearly ran into the giant military truck. Would have been epic.
This is such a super cool reply -- shame it didn't get any higher up so the CinemaSins dudes could see it.
Anyone else feel like that was a LOT of venom extracted from the spider?!?
The only reason I remember this movie is because Liev Schereiber spoiled the twist of him being a double agent on the daily show, while promoting the movie 😂
Fun Fact: This movie was originally written with Salt as a male character and Tom Cruise was approached to play him. Ultimately, he backed out and the script was rewritten with a female lead and Angelina Jolie was cast.
That’s why he had Jack Reacher
Thank goodness.
@@joselopez6990 We got the best outcome.
Tom Cruise opted out of 'Salt' because it was generic and somewhat similar to fare he'd done in the past and signed onto 'Knight & Day' instead, which was essentially a send-up of spy actioners. The box office might disagree, but I think it was the smarter (and more memorable) choice.
@@joselopez6990 That's a pretty hilarious casting choice since Cruise isn't all that tall and if I don't remember correctly doesn't fit awful well to how Reacher was described in the books. Why not go ahead and cast him as the Terminator while at it?
Something that has always bugged me about this film: why, when Orlov announces that the Russian mole is named Evelyn Salt, does she immediately reply that that's her own name? At this point she's supposed to be playing the part of a loyal CIA officer interrogating a supposed foreign defector who may or may not be genuine. Surely the first rule of interrogations is not to reveal any information to the interrogatee, including personal information which they can turn back on you? And none of her colleagues who were watching the the conversation point this out, either. (Of course, Orlov already knows who she is, so it's not like she had any actual reason to reveal her identity, either.)
This is based on the real life op from the 80s where the KGB sent in an infiltrator, then a second infiltrator came claiming to be the actual person and that the first one was a bona fide KGB agent sent to spy. The first one denied that accusations of the second one, even though in reality both were part of the same op. There's a plaque in a D.C. diner immortalizing where the KGB agent sat and told his FBI tail that he will lose him and so he did.
With the recent Travis King case we can see that enemy powers still can easily fool the US. Jeremy even says it makes no logical sense for Salt to apply to various positions within the CIA that would keep her anchored in the US, even though her mission is to kill the Russian president and come back from the cold. I chalk this up to Jeremy being American. While the Soviet and Russian system is undeniably built on psychopathy, that doesn't mean there weren't immoral psychologists and psychiatrists on the regime's payroll who constantly analyze defector behavior. She applied to these positions because she was trained to escape Russia, not the US. Several defectors embedded themselves with the system for privileges of of traveling abroad, so it makes all the sense she's building a legend for herself that she has deep roots in the US.
The windows breaking and not the bottle could be scientifically possible. (Not super likely I’m betting but possible).
The windows are flat glass “sealing” an area. Seal in a pressure wave and things break.
The bottle … while glass. Is exposed to the same air pressure on both sides. And while there would a brief imbalance with the bottle the passing wave of pressure would go over the top and some would push inside the bottle helping balance the pressure from both sides.
The window does not have an “opening” to relieve the differential pressure effect.
One of the greatest action movies that need a sequel please. Whew it's been a long time coming
4:11 no, it's female Jason Bourne
Although it's really hard to keep a lid on it, the saltiest (and surprisingly spidery-est) time of my life was that summer I spent working at Jugs-N-Strokers.
I'm still waiting for the sequel where she teams up with sergeant Pepper.
Or Pepper Potts.
haha brilliant!
Missed the Sin about the amount of venom they got out of that spider…..they don’t have nearly that amount, but that much would have imploded it like the Oceangate
You missed a sin for his plan- Snow says that Salt is supposed to be the fall guy, but that only works if she is in the room when he does all that shit, and since he wasn't going to let her in (and had no way of knowing she'd be there) he only had a shot at using her as the fall guy because she broke in. Aside from the president still being very much alive.
13:50 Spoiler
In the director’s cut Winters killed the president. The president’s successor is hinted at also being a spy from the orphanage/training compound.
And also one more spoiler.
Salt's husband's death is much more excruciating and the scene is very well made.
@ The director's cut made much more sense.
I’ve been waiting for this sins video for so long. It deserves it so so much.
I know right!! In a good way though, it’s a good movie
Those fighting scenes were straight from The Bourne Saltimatum.
... Rrrroll edits!
NO IS SHE A MUTANT WITH SUCTION CUP HANDS? 5:23 😂😂😂
Guess she a-Salted several people.(ducking now)
Funny enough this movie has multiple versions and in one of them ted DOES kill the president and the movie ends with another president being appointed and possibly being a sleeper agent as well
The different versions of this movie made think I was imagining some scenes 😂 like I remembered they drowned her husband? but this vid shows they shot him
They drowned him in the version I saw.
in the directors cut they drown the husband.
I just realized that The Blacklist is basically a fusion of this movie and Alias. How much better would this movie be or any movie really with Raymond Reddington in it?
I remember watching salt at my grandma's
I think the implication at 4:53 is that Mike has puppy dog eyes. 🐕 👀
Peabody does not have a Sherman in this scene
Lol 💪🏻🐺👍🏻
How come this movie doesn't have a sequel already?!?!?!?!? there is still more mission for SALT to come!!!
If 5:54 is supposed to be a Gary Oldham impression, I think you know what he says is "EVERYONE!"
Hunt Block was also played Craig Montgomery on As The World Turns. The fact that I know that is even sadder.
5:20 in rock climbing this is unironically a pretty good ledge to hold onto
As a german, i can confirm that was a funny joke.
No, it wasn't, just like all those german comedies.
You did Salt🎉🎉🎉 I’ve been asking for a Salt review for years & glad it’s finally out & THANK YOU CinamaSins
0:29 YOOOOOOOO LMAOOOO brilliant!!!!!!!
This was long overdue.
Fairly forgettable? FAIRLY forgettable? FAIRLY? Ding!
All I can remember of this film, was a scene when she was going to the whitehouse towards the end, that made it obvious Theodor was a traitor before the big reveal.
Which part? I was completely shocked Ted was a double agent
I had completely forgotten this movie existed until I saw this video pop up in my recommendeds
That fizzy lifting drink joke was excellent.
I get this one mixed up with the one with the loom. And the bullet-bending schtick.
@0:28 about the member of the film crew caught in the frame, had me cracking up!! 😂🤣😆
Aye, cinema sins is the best. Top tier comedy, if you don't gerrit forget about it.
"Roll Spices" doesn't fit because salt is not a spice. A seasoning and a condiment but not a spice.
How is salt a condiment?
@@natnuss98, I agree. It is more a spice than a condiment. It can be used to preserve or obfuscate food, which is what spices are for.
@@natnuss98 It is a flavor enhancer. Which is the definition of a condiment.
Jesus.
Imagine being so insecure that you think "correcting" a semantic difference somehow boosts your worth. 🤦♂
Is that 11:21 Captain Raymond Jacob Holt? This man is immune to ageing
0:47 Wenn ist das Nunstück git und Slotermeyer? Ja! Beiherhund das Oder die Flipperwaldt gersput!
Yeah. Even with my photographic memory, I can barely remember what happened in this movie.
I found the lack of Strategic Arms Limitation Talks disappointing.
I first saw an alternate ending and death for the husband, and when I saw the other version, I thought I had dreamt up the whole thing.
8:40 Ol boy look like Pat Mcafee 😂😂😂
I'm still waiting for the sequel, Pepper.
On today's episode of "I Coulda Swore They Already Sinned This"...
Really liked this movie. Still waiting for part two 😂
Me too😢
I hope...
It's actually how funny how many marvel actors were in this movie before their debuts. The only exception is Liev Shrieber who was in Origins: Wolverine two years earlier
All I remember from this movie was the Octomom and how she was breaking into homes to adopt kids
Unfortunately, salt raises my blood pressure and so do u Cinema Sins.
I love this movie I don’t care what anyone says.
It's a good movie. People just wants something to shit on for the sake of it.
Salt, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Tourist, Angalina has a thing for super spies, she has.
Don't forget Wanted
I was thinking about this movie this morning?
NOW I KNOW WHY!!!
😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
All I remember about this movie is that it was out at about the same time as Milk
It would be interesting as Milk came out in 2008 and this came out in 2010.
0:28 good lord the Uniform and weapons safety violation sins in this 1 shot.
Standing at parade rest facing North Korea.
Flagging everyone w/your minigun.
Booger hooks on triggers.
The 2 guys w/sidearms have different belts.
The 2 guys w/sidearms have their ammo cases in different locations.
Goggles are crooked on 1 of them.
WTH is sticking out from under the back of the helmet on the troop walking to the right?
Well look at Mr Special Specialist w/his Camelbak on, the only 1 of them w/one.
0.37 Thats 156th street and Riverside drive in upper Manhattan ( Washington Heights )
I rememeber sitting in the theater like "Thats not Washington DC" LoL
Thank you for the Captain Hot reference! I thought about that as soon as I saw him!
Uh...arachnids are bugs. Bugs isn't a scientific definition, it's a group of things that fall into the "bug you" type category, and include arachnids, insects, centipedes, millipedes, and other such creatures.... I demand you remove that sin!
Oh the bird man is Gonna love this one
Damn, if this is how Salt is, cant imagine how pepper is gonna turn out
Love the video, but love even more that "chelicerae" was pronounced correctly. 🤣
Why is the fish wearing glasses ? Because he has to read underwater...
Captain Holt joke was gold
Love the Brooklyn 99 reference!
I was thoroughly entertained, I really just hated how the movie ended.
Hunt Block is a fairly well known soap actor. Featured in "Guiding Light " and "As the World Turns "
this needs sequel called Pepper
You might say this was...a salt and battery on the senses. ;)
Okay I may be tripping but Andre Braugher and LLoyd Austin look extremely alike. Lloyd Austin is currently head of DoD in the USA.
3:43 I feel like this guy always plays a character that hates one specific person very much.
Raises blood pressure. *ding*
Captain holt! lol cracked me.
Thank you for doing this one.😍😍😍😍
Can you do Colombiana (2011) next Please.?
I guess UA-cam can't survive without 2 non-skipable ads per every 5 minutes of content?
As a german i find the joke funny
Jugs and Strokrs was a great biker bar here on Long Island (Bellmore) but it's since closed. That's not the bathroom in Jugs though.
When you sin Violent Night please add 100 sins for that Santa intro..... you'll know what I mean!
I know I watched this when it came out but I don't remember a single thing shown here. I thought it was a futuristic movie not just a spy thriller.
That was Aeon Flux.
Washington D.C. present day. Is actually on Riverside Dr in Manhattan NY lived cross the street from there
I forgot this movie even existed until this video came out.
Hey, at least they got DEFCONs right.
0:43
Translation: why is the fish wearing glasses?
Because he has to read underwater.
thank you
That makes no sense!
Fish don't have ears.
Lol, thank God there were subtitles because his german pronunciation was horrible.
Okay so this time I wanna fight cinema sins 😭
0:42 as a German I approve this
