Just got my SJE093 in yesterday. Wow, what a stunner. Perfect partner for my Aqua Terra 38 white. Need to figure out how to get the Seiko buckle out and onto my Artem strap like you did.
The 6L37 is basically same as 6L35 but manufactured with different materials for certain parts to improve durability and with overall more shock resistance. Its similar to how Seiko produces the 8L for their dive watches, certain standards to adhere to their dive watch specifications. I rotate between my SJE083 King Seiko and Pelagos 39 through the week for work and I find my SJE to be more accurate after a week, barely deviates more than +3 seconds after a week while the Pelagos 39 is around +10-15 seconds off so the 6L is definitely not a bad movement compared to the Tudor apart from the power reserve. After all the 6L35 movement was produced to be similar to a ETA2892 which you still find in most luxury brands with rebranded name at the same price point. You probably are one of the first ones to get SJE093. I'm patiently waiting for mine since my AD said they will only receive by the end of September. Congratulations and a lume shot would have been great. Maybe a youtube short incoming with a lume shot?
I own this watch. I love it. Probably the second favorite Seiko in my collection. The first being the King Seiko SJE089. I just wish that Seiko would have kept the "Water 150 Resist" text on the dial. And made it 39mm. It feels a little small on my wrist.
According to one of the Janpanese descriptions: ケースコーティング:ダイヤシールド which is translated into "Case coating: diamond shield" which seems to suggests that the steel has "Diashield"
Thanks for doing this video! I pre-ordered one and the wait is killing me. I bought the SLA017 in 2017, but with my 5 3/4" wrist, it was still a bit large for me. Was so excited to see the announcement for the SJE093.
Thanks for the review. I have the SLA017 which I love but its a bit large for my wrist so letting it go for this one. Only wish they would have used everbrillant on this one. People are worried about accuracy but a few seconds a day makes little difference to me personally. The looks are spot on. Can't wait.
Its basically a smaller version of the sla017. I have the sla043, and my wrist is 7.5 , so thats perfect for me. I have 2 lovely tudors , but i still prefer my seiko sla043 over my black bay. These seikos are just incredible watches , but the movement in my tudor is way more accurate. I love my seiko sla043 , its my favorite watch in my collection. Its so robust , and still looks as new as the day i got it. Enjoy it sanjay , because they are special .
Some people are moaning about the bezel insert being a tad smaller than the slot for it. There was this apparent gap at the edges of the insert based on some photos of dummy units used for the press launch. On your videos, I don't see this "gap". I hope you can tell us more about this. Thanks!
I wore the spb143 as my daily for over a year and I loved most everything about it, except for the movement. I inevitably sold it and now I really wish that I had jumped on the sla017’s when they came out. These 37 mm 62 mas’ look phenomenal, but the 017 is a better size for me, and with prices being what they are now for the 017, I doubt that I ever add one to the collection. I don’t know, there’s just something about those Sunday grey dials on all of the 62mas reissues that just does it for me. IMO they are the greatest looking divers out there, regardless of brand!
Good video as always ❤ Love my spb143 despite having the lumepip. It’s running about +5 sec a week, so very good. But the sje093 looks sooo good and well executed! I really want one now 😊👌
First of all, congratulations on the beautiful Seiko. I've been a bit dissatisfied with Seiko for quite some time now but with this watch I'm giving it another try. On paper the Tudor BB54 is indeed better, but from the feelings I just like the Seiko better. So this will be my first Seiko after a long time, I hope that Seiko has done a good job.
This watch is gorgeous. However, for the price point, a steel bracelet should be included. It's also odd for Seiko not to update the power reserve on their L movements. We have a situation now where the 6R movements have a higher 70hr power reserve.
Thank you very much for this first impression. Do you know the reference of the black rubber strap ? Also love to see a comparison with the SLA017 which I previously owned. We need to wait a while for this. Last can’t wait to receive this piece. Yes it is pricy but through to the 62MAS
Hey Jeff, Hope you're well! Have you considered the SLA065? It's a similar watch, but quite a bit larger than this one. You could also check out the SLA037...but that one is egregiously priced
@@engineer_wannabe I would prefer if the SLA065 had a gray dial and more design language like the 037. I'm okay, though. I have 3 SLA models, the 055, 023, and 051, all on Waffles and Tropics. Best.
Thanks for making this great video! Quick question: is the rehaut polished like the SLA017, 037, 043? At some angles in your video it looks polished and sometimes it looks brushed. Thanks!
I kind of like it. I think Seiko's very own lower end 62MAS interpretations don't quite hit the mark. The 6R powered interpretations always seem to have a bezel that always looks fat. This bezel seems to be the perfect size. Misaligned or otherwise. Almost worth trying to sell my SLA021.
Agree! The size (width) of the bezel plays a huge part in the overall look of the face of the watch - myself I much prefer a smaller width bezel insert, regardless of material used. It is one of the reasons I pulled the trigger on this new 62mas vs. the earlier versions. Size is important.
Perhaps I missed it in the video, is there any improvement on positive ratchet feel for the bezel action on this SJE or is it like most dampened Seikos? Aside from movement and bracelet advantages the 54 has another strong feature, Tudor's 60 click bezel is class leading imo. Although, I've heard the 54 lume is less than desirable. Aesthetically I lean SJE, missed opportunity for the brand to introduce a proper upgraded bracelet considering its place in the market and introducing the 6L into it.
@@engineer_wannabe much appreciate the response. I've purged much of my collection and without a diver, so the search for a diver is on, wish it were readily available to try which makes your videos all the more valuable.
Haha maybe I'll be able to borrow a BB54 in the future....my BB54 review should be coming out over the next week. Maybe that'll help with your decision
I want this but not because of the seiko part, but because I’m a fan of the vintage Blancpain divers and this is basically as close as you can get to the vintage bathyscaph
It’s not Everbriliant steel, it also has Diashield coating. There is a naming issue in the USA so that can no longer call it Diashield nor can include the tag stating that but the watch does indeed have it. According to the Japanese site, they mention Diashield but not Zaratsu finishing so we can assume it’s not Zaratsu. Either way, congrats. I’m waiting patiently for mine! 😊
Zaratsu polishing is just getting the surfaces flat and shiny on a lapping machine ("Zaratsu" comes from how Japanese watchmakers pronunced the brand name of the Swiss lapping machine "Sallaz"). This watch case has been lapped to get the flat surfaces, like many other brands do.
Hi man, planning to buy an artem strap to wear on a sje101, i think i have a wrist size basically the same as you, what size for the strap did you get?
Sanjay - since I have you to "blame" (🤣) for me purchasing this watch, can I ask you about that Artem strap? Did you change the 20mm spring bars to 19mm spring bars, and what color stitching did you go with - the white or the gray? Thank you for your time.
