Dusty is spot on at 45:56.
There will be a day that the wild west era of NIL ends. This current moment is the easiest it has ever been, and (hopefully) will ever be, to buy a good college football team. We are essentially hitting the reset button on established programs. When the hammer comes down, there will be an extreme and semi-permanent gap in quality between teams that went all in on NIL and those that didn’t. Those teams will be the new powerhouse programs of the FBS until the next avoidable disaster.
Any booster seriously thinking about pulling their NIL funding because we suck this year needs to pull their head out of their ass and use the brain that made them shitloads of money. We are dangerously close to not having a good football team for a really long time, and doubly so if we stop spending money now.

  • @bigtymetrader
    @bigtymetrader 2 дні тому +2

In Bill B we trust yet we have been complaining about the O-line for how many years? "It's recruiting" yet in the big 12 and in the SEC other teams who don't have an NIL program as good as ours CLEARLY have better lines. lol Too many of these guys CLEARLY have bias because of previous history with Bill B and like him and that effects their ability to be TRULY unbiased. We need an OC and if he WANTS to bring in his OL coach then we need to sever ties with Bill B. What's he gonna do go portal recruit at another school and then have that fanbase complain that the portal recruits are not standard?
The guy just doesn't seem to be able to bring in big oline HS recruits based off his GREAT ability to put players into the NFL. And he seems to be losing his ability to take the lesser ranked oline recruits and develop them and coach them up. Those are just facts. Other schools are doing better and it's LOTS of schools not just a few and these are schools who literally have WAYYYYY less than OU for brand and resources. Why would players NOT want to come play at OU for Bill B and get put into the NFL? I mean he is the best right? The best oline coach, the best coach to put players into the nfl. Yet he can't get hs recruits to come play for him? It's crazy how disconnected it is from what these guys are saying about him and then reality. Bizarre.

    #1 Dan Mullen
    #2 Mike Shanahan
    #3 Brennan Marion
However Dan Mullen would be an Elite Hire.
Mullen has coached Alex Smith, Tim Tebow, Dak Prescott, and i think the last QB was trask, and he historically runs the ball.
He had a top 10 total offense 3 times throughout his career and a Top 50 offense at least 6 times. Hes also had a top 30 scoring offense 6 times and a top 15, 3 times.
We need to win now so Dan Mullen would 100% be a fantastic hire, and hes a good recruiter as well with 3 top 15 recrutingclasses, and 2 top 10 classes.
Cut QB coach position and free up that pay to give him more money, you might even lose an analyst or 2, it would be well worth it.

to robbyclark6915 - can l offer an alternative view? Even if Dillon Gabriel stayed in Norman and played this year, he would have spent the whole season running for his life behind an injury plagued O-line and season results would have been the same except possibly a win at Misery, 6-6 and a minor bowl game. Meanwhile Gabriel’s draft grade goes up in smoke right along with OU’s season. The plague of injuries is ABSOLUTELY 99% responsible for this failed season. If OU can put a healthy and formidable O-line on the field next year along with healthy WR’s it will be ABSOLUTELY 99% responsible for putting OU football back on track, with or without any new coaches. it is horrifically unfair to Kevin Johns and Joe John to fire them for not being miracle workers who should have put a winning team on the field despite the most injury riddled season in program history. TERIBLE way to treat them.

Biggest problem with OU. In the SEC they will be around 7th in the conference from now on. OU will have a year when they win 10games. But that will be few and far between. OU lacks quality talent. This will be the 2nd year in a row. Where very few OU players get drafted in the nFL.

I’m still in the camp of let’s see what Casey can do. Decision making at the qb position has been the biggest issue. I’m going to need to be convinced the veteran won’t make better decisions.

When Texas plays a complete game they are the best team in the country.
They lost to Georgia but they did beat Georgia in the 2nd half of that game 15-7.
It was the bad start that cost them that game.

@smokey689 We can say salty things about BV leaving for Clemson job only to return back to program. College football has become more of a business than NFL. Brutal truth is they don't care about what us fans want but care about our money. When Lincoln was at OU winning, no one had a bad word about him. They were happy we were winning. Once he makes a business decision for his career and family...major salty people calling him names. But we are throwing ideas out to improve team.

    • @smokey689

@smokey689 You fail to mention when he lost that game, the offense scored over 40 points. Georgia held everyone under 20 points that year. It was his failure to take attention to defense that caused that game. Kinda like BV failure as HC to go vice versa. Defense better. No offense.

I had to stop when he said Dan Mullen can develop QBs as good as anyone. Tebow was never a great QB. Dak had 1 good year in college and is pretty close to losing his job with the cowboys. Trask was just trash. So if and I mean IF we're somehow got Mullen we have to find a damn good QB coach and not let Mullen anywhere near the QB room.

@chestercarter6081 I'm not talking NFL except for the fact that dak is about to lose his job. Dak had 1 good year in college. Trask sucked at FL. And Tebow was carried by his team. None of his QB's outside of Smith were any good.
