  • Welcome back to Tasmania, still on the western side, and heading to Queenstown.
Firstly a stop at Lake Mackintosh, considered to be one of the most scenic lakes in Tasmania .
It is beautiful, and a major catchment for the hydro electricity project.
On to the old mining town and now hydro town of Tullah, and another nice lake, Lake Rosebery.
I get a quick look at the little steam engine Wee Georgie Wood'.
I then take a wrong turn and end up a massive mountain, which leafs to a mechanical breakdown.
Which does give me a couple of days in a motel 'nice'.
Queenstown is a nice place, looking up to Mt Owen.
The yellow hills nearby are so unusual, the leftover result of mining.
I managed to get some filming done, before wow SNOW ,such a nice addition to my Queenstown visit.
The old train carriages were interesting but I didn't get to see the engine.
So north again ,slower ,and watching the temperatures.
    Back to Waratah area.
Philosopher Falls,I must apologise because I mispronounced Philosopher and Philsophers ,all the while I was there,oh well.
So it keeps getting better, next time Cradle Mountain,
    Enjoy this one thanks Bill.

Hi Bill, absolutely sensational scenery and to think it is in our our backyard rather than travelling halfway around the world to see something half as good. It amazes me how few Australians have done an in depth holiday in Tasmania. I was there in 2016 for the first time and the scenery just blew me away

Hi Peter, this is my first trip to Tasmania, I can't believe it's taken me this long. The mountains, streams, green everywhere, I think your right about our own backyard there is so so much to see. Many Tasmania has something amazing around each corner, the small car gives me the chance to stop and film something. thanks for your comment Bill.

That's was a quick repair all considered Bill. Those giant ferns are lovely down there. Have you seen any tiger snakes yet down there, there black and quiet timid? Those falls are nice. The West Tassie is a real contradiction to me, lovely wilderness contrasted against mining damage to The Queenstown hills and the dead King river. Great photography as usual.

Thanks Fred,it was a quick repair, expensive but quick,I don't know whether it was obvious but I didn't even get to see half the things that I wanted to see while there, after repairs I was over cautious with the hills, and then the weather really closed in,but that leaves things for me when I return one day.Maybe get to see the steam engine too. That was another nice rainforest walk/climb,saw a few fungus too.
      Thanks Bill

We go to Tas every year. My favourite place in Australia. We’ve done the central highway, east coast and south of Hobart but haven’t done the west coast yet.

Hi Bill, just discovered your videos of Tasmania, and thoroughly enjoyed them. As we were watching them and looking at them thinking what an amazing place we looked at each other and said "we live in the best place in the world" . We are fortunate enough to live in Tassie and on the North West Coast. We absolutely love our little piece of paradise .
Just wondering what were your top 5 locations in were ?
We are bloody lucky living here and I'm pleased you enjoyed your holiday.
    Cheers

Hi Janelle, thanks for watching, it's hard to answer,as there's so many areas, but without rewatching ,the vids here's some but not all of my favourite Tasmanian places,so Tarkine Drive, Stanley, Cradle Mountain, Bay of Fires,Queenstown although that radiator problem messed thing up,Freycinet National Park, Penguin, so only some, and I've left many areas I didn't get to see for another time.Oh Waratah, I come just go on.thanks Bill

Hi Bill, what a fantastic journey you have taken me on. The scenery was absolutely spectacular, the drone footage unbelievable. A very special part of the world. You're all rugged up and I'm watching in 34 degree heat in Ballarat!. I tried watching just after you posted the video, but my WiFi service was poor. Real good now. Sorry you had car problems, but at least you glammed it up a bit for a couple of nights, you deserve it. This has continued a brilliant lot of videos of Tasmania Bill, well done. Looking forward to seeing your next vlog. Take care please. Smokey

Thanks mate, the big bed was so nice, and the hot bath too.So far the car is good,my adrenaline was going a bit when the radiator blew,on top of a mountain in an unfamiliar place. The snow was a real treat. There is more snow to come.take care Bill

Looks like so much epic places to see in such a small part of the Map. The radiator on my Tarago split in the same spot but the tank had turned light brown colour before it happened. The new radiator is now 8 years old so it should be good for a while.

Hi Chris it is amazing Tasmania, with radiator, the mechanic thinks because I stopped at top of mountain and kept car running, the air wasn't rushing through to keep it cool, and the weak spot blew. Thanks for watching Bill.

Quality video! Great selection of the magnificent scenery seen on your trip. Looks like a cold place even in summer! Not surprised you felt cold at Philosopher Falls at an elevation over 600m when people have fire places blazing away at much lower altitudes.
