I think she'll end up with loads more as the algorithm brought me to her and obviously loads of others too. So it'll keep bringing more people here when the people before subscribe.

Julia Roberts was literally absolutely perfect for this role. I honestly felt like she was really Erin and I truly believe that in doing this movie, that she was truly angry about PG&E’s negligence and what happened to those innocent people in Hinkley.

I haven't worked in corporate America in years. But I remember the last time. I couldn't believe my ears. The abject sexism. I'm a white male and it made me so damn angry. I told them, this isn't the damn strip club guys, Jesus. Is it any wonder so many women feel disaffected. I blame men. Point blank. Specifically white men. You want to put yourself out there guys have a some respect. And for Christ's sake, you have to look like someone a woman would want to be with. It's really not that complicated. I made a decision in the early 90s to start training in the gym because I was really ramping up my dating scene. Well gee whiz, imagine that. Women like a hard body to snuggle up to. And some honesty and humor to go with it. Who would have thought right? These men today...I just smh. I heard a 29 yo recently talk about how he would rather play video games than date. Wow...just f'ing wow.

I just found your channel and while I work in a field that requires business casual attire, not business professional, I can still relate to your wardrobe conundrum. As someone who's been in a supervisory role for an inventory company, I have been required to carry a walkie, spare books of inventory tags, the stickers we use to mark products, pens/pencils and even spare batteries for our handhelds and of course, because we spend most of our days in retail stores, purses or bags are not allowed during the work day. Also, it's pretty commonly known that women's work pants or dress pants have no decent pockets if they even have them at all, so I started buying mine in the men's department just to have pockets to carry those things in, but then I have difficulty finding pants that fit both my wide hips and long legs without sagging or being too baggy elsewhere. The struggle is real. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the challenges we women face in dressing appropriately for work.

Omg, Emily D. Baker has talked a lot about the ongoing problems with appearance conceptions in the legal field. She also brought it up recently in a collab live stream with NatalieLawyerChick and NatetheLawyer. Nate confirmed the b.s. does not affect men the way it affects women. The worst he's had to deal with is hair/race issues (which are still bad) - wearing an "appropriate" tie and a few comments on his hair. Natalie said exactly what you were alluding to. Both she and Emily (especially since Emily was a DA) have dealt with the ridiculous wardrobe comments, but Natalie also had to deal with the hair/race issues on top of that. She had a fellow African American attorney (much older) pull her aside once, telling her that her natural dreadlocks were inappropriate for court. She then later had a lawyer friend (also African American), who wore her hair straightened, tell her that a white female judge pulled /her/ aside and told her that her straight hair was, "too colloquial." Like, WTH? Damned if you do, damned if you don't. It's just insane. As long as you look professionally presentable, it shouldn't be an issue. The sexism and racism in any field needs to stop. Especially, in fields that require lots of education and training. You went to school for most of your young life and worked your ass off to get into that field, and your work should speak for itself. So stupid.

I quit school in the 9th grade, well actually in about the 5th grade is when i tuned out but still kept showing up. Not too many years ago a billion dollar corporation did some property damage to me. I negotiated a settlement with them over a 6 month period without hiring a lawyer or going to court. Their lawyers tried every trick to wiggle out of paying up by making me offers that were laughable and unethical and also making false accusations that they knew were phony, anything to try to shake my confidence in my position. I told them the amount i wanted and they agreed to it and wired it to my bank account. I think i could have gotten a lot more but i wasnt sure how hard i could push before they slammed the door shut and stopped talking with me. If they had forced me to go to court and hire a lawyer, that would have cost me a lot of money and time and physical energy, so maybe i could have gotten more on my own or maybe not, but it was a chunk of money that i really needed considering having chronic health troubles and no good source of money coming in.

I've been binging your videos all day and I've been loving your legal knowledge and personality! also, it's refreshing to see a professional interested in astrology as you are and so, I just wanted to make sure if you ever read this, that hopefully you know cusps do not exist. You can check someone's natal chart (if their bday is on the last or first day of a sign and you're unsure) to see the exact degree of which actual sign their sun falls in. however, (if you wanted to know) your planet can be on the "cusp" between two houses, meaning if your planet is on the edge of one house and another, the planet can influence both houses if it is within a certain (debated) range of 3 degrees!
I swear I have taken legal knowledge from all your videos and am not just hung up on the astrology ahhh ahah.

God, I had to laugh so hard when she said you might wanna change your tie xD we have a politician in Germany, who's pretty old and of course a frontrunner for the Nazi party and he typically wears a tie with a hound on it 💀 although, some have also suggested it's a german shepherd.... the last few years have been politically rough on all of us I guess

Sooooo--the problem with the allegations & assertions being made against Erin by the doctor's defense attorney fall apart because of two crucial flaws : A. How could she know ahead of time that the doctor in his Jaguar would be speeding to (and through) that intersection?? ; B. How could she possibly know the doctor's occupation or net worth?? What if he's rushing to work because he's **deeeeply** in debt and just cannot afford to be late because he might lose his job??

Hmm, any you're missing? I dunno... two films did come to my mind, but they're much less law-focused. The first that came to mind was Silkwood, which did eventually create a legal case, but it's not really in the film. The other was Working Girl, which I suppose deals with contract law a little, but never in a courtroom, that I recall. So... 🤷‍♀

I just found your channel and am thoroughly enjoying your content. Would you consider reacting to the movie (or book) Sleepers? It's a dark revenge story about 4 kids who went to juvy and experienced severe abuse in the 60s and then, 20 odd years later, two of those now grown kids happens upon a guard from their incarceration days and kills him in the middle of a restaurant. One of the other kids happens to be an up and coming DA at the time and orchestrates it so he's prosecuting the case and conspires for it to not only fail in convicting his friends, but expose the prison. Great cast including Robert DeNiro, Dustin Hoffman, Brad Pitt and Minnie Driver. Pitt and Hoffman have some great court room scenes. Purportedly a true story as written by Lorenzo Carcaterra (sp?)

I’m new to you but I’m officially a HUGE HUGE fan now. I’d LOVE you to watch the TV show “ Rebel “ it’s got Katey Sagal as the lead.
It’s gives definite Erin Brockovich vibes. I definitely love it. I hope they keep up the pace and it doesn’t fizzle out. I think you’d love the feminist feel of the show, and how she’s all about standing up for the underdog and the environment.
It even plays on how it affected her kids as they grew up/are growing up and how they use what they learned in their lives now. I love that aspect too.

This is Movie Law School. Love it! I have an interesting question here. In property subdivision, the investor pays for the surveyor, evaluator, accountant and solicitor. In assessing character or mental incapability, the client pays for the psychologist. Just wondering if it is in this case or pro bono or legal aid, who pays for scientists.

That whole internal monologue gave me flashbacks. So thankful i no longer go to the courthouse daily. I always wanted to make sure it was about the client, not me. But that is a daily subjugation for those of us who love fashion and our natural hair. Working from my home office has been my salvation but I understand other women who have chosen to leave the profession altogether.

Cis male* bodies ☺️ as a transgender man I face a similar obstacle with suits. I wore my first one recently for a friends wedding that was a rental and I had a serious issue with the pants being “skinny” enough in the leg for me but big enough to fit my hips (which are not nice a slender like most cis guys.) Similar issue with a jacket big enough to fit my pear shape but not being too big for my little shoulders 😂😂😅😅
My dream is to get a custom suit made for my body! This should be something more available to non-binary / trans bodies anyway (imo).
Awesome reaction video though. Now I want to watch Erin Brockovich! I haven’t before.

The policing of women's clothing is STILL happening in the legal field. In fact, a law society in Canada recently had a "Women in Law: How to dress for success" seminar and a lot of us were like PFO! Don't tell women how they need to dress to be taken "seriously" by clients or male coworkers.

culturally about lawyers being seen as scumbags; it's all about the denigration of human rights, that's how I see it, lawyers cannot be expected to be superhuman, they are human too. whatever the case, their contribution to the discussion of human rights is valuable, even if they defend the wrong things.

This was the first legal film I ever watched. I remember in the wardrobe discussion scene (7:30) just thinking; Oh! These other women are jealous of Erin cuz she’s “hot. But, the way Leeja explains it and to really contemplate how for decades women had to adapt to the patriarchal and (most of the times) misogynist wardrobe “etiquette” just to keep a “professional facede” is something that all men should really reflect on, especially those who keep complaining about women “asking too much equality”. Its true, we all need to be comfortable with ourselves in order to perform well in our jobs and that SHOULD include women and we men just have to learn to deal with it.

"The desperate woman trope" UGH gross. If an attorney needs to use that to make their point, they aren't a good attorney. Everything you said about women self policing in the work place especially with regards to appearance resonates with me. I think attorneys get a bad reputation for being jerks because the law requires you to distance yourself emotionally in order to make logical, objective and well reasoned decisions on behalf of clients. Being a lawyer is fighting for your clients every day, and that constant fight and seeing the injustice in our legal system is emotionally taxing. I remember in law school reading a case- I believe it was Moran v Ohio- where a woman was convicted of murd*r for killing her husband while he was sleeping after years of extreme abuse. This was back in the days of books in law school libraries and after hours of research that one got me- I just sat on the floor of the library and cried for this woman and the injustice she faced. That's part of why I decided not to practice law- I didn't want it to harden me but I also knew I couldn't provide my clients with the best representation if my emotions got the best of me.
