Haven’t had a perm since the 80s. 😂
To this day my favorite "Dumb Blonde" Joke is so: A blonde woman requests a $1,500 loan from a bank and offers her Lamborghini as collateral, the bankers think she's a dumb blonde for offering such a luxury car for a relatively small amount and upon researching her, discover she's a multi-millionaire. She returns the next week ready to pay back the loan in full plus around $15 of interest built over the week and they ask why she needed the loan if she was so wealthy. She replies, "Where else can you park your car and ensure its safety for a week while on vacation for only $15?"
My favorite blond joke: 3 blonds are walking down a beach when the find a genie bottle. the genie pops out and tells them they each get one wish. The first blond says she is tired of the jokes and wants to be 20% smarter. The genie turns her into a brunette. The second blond wants to be smarter but not that much more so asks for 10%. Genie turns her into a redhead. The third blond is disgusted at her friends. She loves being blond and if nothing else, wants to be 20% dumber. Genie turns her into a man!
Lol totally, I just figured I’d clarify what it all actually meant in case anyone was wondering and comment on whether a first year law student would even have those words in her vocabulary
It just shows that Elle is ready to cross boundaries to help her friend...and try to threaten or impress the guy by using fancy legal words...that's the character 😊
Marylin wasn’t stupid. She actually loved to read. It’s just everyone wanted her to play dumb blonde so she played dumb blonde. Thank you for spreading truth and knowledge into the interwebs.
Everyone that I've seen react to this movie skips over one of the BEST confidence lines! "I don't need backups; I'm going to Harvard" THE SHEER CONFIDENCE AND DETERMINATION IN THAT LINE IS *SO GOOD* I wish I had that attitude
I didn’t necessarily see this as an example of Elle’s confidence (though it could be). At this point in the movie, she’s not interested in pursuing a career in law. She’s interested in chasing Warner, who is going to Harvard. So she wouldn’t need backups. She either gets into Harvard and can get her man back or she doesn’t and she needs to come up with a new plan.
They really don't look into the sexual assault that happens in this, like, Callahan is seen as a creep but, by today's standards, that's predatory behavior against both his student and intern.
Lawyer here. When this movie came out, I was starting law school. I've always found it pretty accurate in some regards. For instance, the part where Elle attends her very first class and did not know that there were readings assigned for that first class. That same thing happened to me lol. I also felt very lost the first couple of weeks. I then studied harder and like Elle, graduated with good grades. And just like Elle, I belong to the class of 2004! haha.
They do fashion merchandising majors so dirty. How they gonna look down on a 4.0 in a BUSINESS degree. Although as someone who went to school for pastry arts, I can relate to having a subject like "History of Poka Dots" because it was always a little weird saying that I had finals in things like cakes, cookies, pies, chocolate, and bread when juxtaposed against some of friends who had finals in something like human anatomy
Hey, sorry if this seems like a weird question but did your degree end up being useful? I am about to go into college and I've been trying to think of what major I should do and I'm really passionate about anything to do with culinary arts :)
@@blandface9957 A culinary arts degree can be useful but you can sometimes get the same skill based knowledge if there are good restaurants in your area with chefs willing to train you. I went to Johnson & Wales in Providence, RI. They offer bachelor's programs in culinary arts and in baking/pastry arts. I did learn quite a lot but I probably could've done alright with just the associates. JWU is the only school in the US, at least the east coast, to offer a bachelor's in just baking and pastry or a bachelor's in baking and pastry/food service manage or food service entrepeurship. The P4 program (the four year pastry degree) is rather competitive requiring recommendations from your chefs as well as a portfolio of what you made in your associates program. On the culinary arts side for bachelor's you get to choose between culinary arts/food service manage, entrepreneurship, sustainability (which is a new program created by an amazing chef that I got the pleasure of working with while at school), and also nutrition/food science which you could then take the skills from that and become a registered dietician or go on to develop new food products (think about whoever made pop rocks or hot pockets or any new kind of food) also with food science you get to play around with molecular gastronomy and serve food in unrecognizable ways that wow and astonish. JWU also offers a sommelier minor if you are really into wine. Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Hyde Park, NY is also a highly recommended school for people really into cooking. From the people I've run into that went to CIA they enjoyed their time there but it is a little more competitive. If you haven't worked in restaurants before I would recommend trying it out for a summer or up to a year, I personally worked in a restaurant the first year after high school and then went to college. I won't sugar coat it, the industry can be really tough. It can be physically demanding, long sometime irregular hours (including weekends and holidays) and at times it can get absurdly repetitive if the restaurant you work at does change up their menu every once in a while. Cuts, burns, and body aches are common but they are manageable. To end this rant, a culinary degree can indeed be useful, my baking degree has gotten me into most bakeries I've applied for and also into some restaurants. In the end the degree is only as useful as the amount of effort you put into the degree and how much effort you continue to put in after graduating. Practice and skill will always beat scholarly knowledge but you can get both out attending a school. Also, don't think you have to consider either of the two schools I mentioned they just happen to be my alma mater and another highly ranked school, but some community colleges and trade schools offer great programs as well. As you consider colleges for culinary arts make sure you know what level of degree the school offers many of them will only go up to an associates degree (which again is absolutely fine) or even just a certificate, especially for baking. Certificates in the long run don't get you very much. Feel free to ask any more questions, if you want a more private conversation I can give my Instagram (there's nothing to look at on it but good for messaging). Professional, licensed hairstylist here and can confirm that YES you are not to get your hair wet for up to 48 Hours after a perm, and YES Elle Woods even got the chemical name correct it is ammonium thioglycolate.
I love that they act like they are doing her a favor by accepting. Like you pointed out she's a business major with a 4.0, the president of an apparently nation wide sorority, and got an almost perfect lsat score
idk if someone already mentioned this, but a little bit before the list of interns is posted, one of the other students mention that "His case load is so big, he's taking on first-year interns." so they're still first year students during this internship.
To be honest I think Brooke not wanting her alibi getting out there in public is because if I remember correctly in early 2000's plastic surgery/ cosmetic surgery was still taboo and not as open like today. Like today we are aware celebrities get surgery and are more open about it. Back in 2000's, I can recall celebrities denying getting surgery done on them and would defend themselves against the tabloids. So, Brooke had a right to fear that her reputation would be destroyed if she gave her alibi. Just wanted to share my perspective. Also from California and yes lawyers here aren't that pretty.
Plus, we have to still remember that it's a movie. Would be really boring if she just said the reason and boom, the situation is handled. Like, it's super cool to see what is accurate and what not but if we are all beeing honest, at least for this story, it would be super boring if everything was accurate.
Also too, she's is a fitness instructor, If she admits to getting liposuction, it hinders her credibility as a fitness instructor if she couldn't even give herself the body she wanted.
Right but she's acting as her attorney and then lied to the prison and then asked her questions about her alibi as though she was an attorney. Ethically dubious all around
Looking back, law school definitely felt like this when I was in first year. I felt like the dumbest in my class. I was a graduate of Business Economics, I did not even graduate with honors... Meanwhile, half of my class were DOCTORS and ACCOUNTANTS!
Lawyer here -great comments! Much better than others. Also: my crim law prof (at University of Baltimore) was a founding partner at a well known, local firm - Byron Warnken. It was unusual & he was a TOTAL JERK (I skipped his class too much b/c of it)- but really well known locally. So, it *could* happen.
I mean Elle being a major in fashion merchandising should be enough to remind people that she’s smart cause textiles aren’t easy and historical fashion is a very intense filed
Massachusetts doesn't have common law marriage within itself, but accepts other states' common law marriage law if the couple attained the title while in that state and moved. But it seems to me like Elle just word-vomited a bit, then strong-armed the dog away to Paulette, like is the idea that if he tried to legally stop her, they'd probably win so just let it happen?
I just watched the Queens who like to watch (Trixie and Katya for Netflix) video on Legally Blonde and then came right here... Like jumping from a snowdrift into a hot tub. It was great. Awesome video, as always!!!
Elle trying to explain “subject matter jurisdiction” knowing legal words and just using them and it sounds like she knows what she is talking about is me knowing Like 10 words in french trying to do my gcse speaking exam 😂
you seemed to have missed some key points, she wasn't a second year law student she was still a first year. they made a point of saying the firms case load was so big that they were accepting 4 first year interns.
As an upper-middle class California girl, Elle Woods would have DEFINITELY heard and understood the phrase "equitable distribution of property." In California, the phrase "equitable distribution" is taught to every girl by her mother, right after "pre-nup." The phrase and concept of "community property" doesn't exist in California. In fact, I don't think/know if Massachusetts is an "equitable distribution" state.
I found you from your Bailey Sar8ian react and can I just say you're amazing! Not only are you entertaining, but you are also secretly helping me get through this business law class I am struggling through. Thank you Leeja!!
I would love you to watch the episode of monk called “mr monk takes the stand”. There’s a part where a lawyer is definitely behaving in a way that would not be allowed.
Also in the movie, Elle goes into the prison as her sister named Delta Nu. There is no way you can visit someone in prison with a fake name. You have to show proper ID and go through checks. They would know who she is because she was already there as part of her legal team.
I am not a law student but I have seen this movie sooo many times when I was studying, writing my PhD thesis, and when I was getting ready to defend it. It is just such a feel good movie for students imo xD or if one just needs a motivation in general :D
Stumbled on your react video to Bussy/RuPauls Drag Race Contract and enjoyed it so much I went on a binge. I appreciate how you make the law and the parts of life where we experience law, easier to understand. And your kinda funny too so there’s that. While I am still mid binge and might not have come across it yet if in fact you have already done it I would REALLY enjoy your reaction to A Few Good Men. Live, Laugh, Love, Loofa But Not Necessarily In That Order Rick
Hi, I am a pretty Californian, but my pretty friend grew up in Montana. She reports to have a had a strong “ugly duckling” phase, and she “glew up” after she moved to California. When she went home to visit, everyone was talking about how pretty she was post moving to California. I have a theory that our sunshine is good for the soul thus making people more attractive. Thank you for coming to my TedTalk.
Ok. I must say this! I started watching another UA-camr on here a few months back, who was a lawyer and enjoyed her videos. Still do. But I actually enjoy yours more. I think it's cute how you were swaying in your chair to the music watching the movie.
Students can be cruel. When Elle was invited to that party they told her it was a costume party to embarrass her. Something similar happened to me in college. I was invited to a party that turned out to be a closed fraternity meeting.
You had me at your save Britney (explaining conservatorship) video and am here to stay! Also, your editing, lighting, sound, etc. is on point! I'm not sure how you find the time, keep it up! 🔥
Wouldn't Wyndham, since she's hired this team, probably try to fire them if her alibi was released without her consenting to her team to do so, especially since she believes it would pose a risk to her business?
I have to say I'm not to thrilled about the homophobia and pretty aggressive bi-erasure (Lack of acknowledgement that bisexuality exists and some individuals identify as such) in this movie. Like it's a kind of sweet, naïve homophobia and Elle looks just adorable when she talks about it, but it's pretty cringe.
Yeah, I think we do need to consider that this was the 2000's and even just having a gay character will bring you a lot of hate. So legally blonde is technically ahead of it's time.
And it is stereotypical of gay men knowing about. My gay friend from high school saw this movie and he was like “I’m gay, I don’t know anything about fashion!”
The musical version even add a whole song, "gay or European", which confused me a lot about how people view gays (and Europeans). Now I guess a lot of movies were like that in the 2000''s, but still.
I am gay and wasn't offended by her exposing the witness as a liar. Also I wasn't offended by her comments about gay men knowing something about fashion, because I know many who are. 🌈
I'd love to see a reaction to the new show All Rise which follows a prosecutor turned judge in LA - it was really entertaining! Also, would you consider ever doing book reviews for legal thrillers? Maybe a ranking of all the best John Grisham books or other authors.
@@LeejaMiller it's such a great show! The characters are all very well fleshed out and there are some great storylines. They even covered the impact of the coronavirus on the legal system in their last episode before they had to halt production.
This isn't a movie or TV show but have you considered the Legally Blonde musical? There's a professionally filmed recording of it on youtube, though it's 360p iirc, and imo they changed enough in relation to the law part to make it worth a reaction(for example, and spoiler alert obviously, in the court scene instead of telling the story about her sorority sister, everyone straight-up GOES to the bathroom where the alleged shower took place)
best blonde joke ive seen: "The man is very excited by this prospect of sitting next such a beautiful woman but is displeased when she turns onto her side, facing away from him to fall asleep. So he says to her, "Let's play a game. I'll ask you a question and if you can't answer it, you give me $5. Then you can ask me a question and if I can't answer it I'll give you $5." The woman says she doesn't want to play any games. "Tell you what, I'll ask you a question and if you can't answer it you'll give you $5. And then you can ask me a question and if I can't answer it I'll give you $500!" This causes the woman to sit straight up and pay attention. Pleased with himself the man asks his question. "What is the capitol of Indiana?" The woman shrugs and give the man $5. Then the woman asks the man her question. "What goes up a mountain on 3 legs and down a mount on 4?" The man is stumped. He has no idea. He brings out his laptop and searches the internet but is unable to find the answer, so he give the woman $500. She takes the money puts it in her purse and turns over to fall asleep. "Wait, what is the answer to the question?" The woman hands the man $5." good shit lol
I live in Los Angeles, and a lot of blondes out here aren't that pretty like the ones in the movie. You wanted someone from CA to comment. Well, here it is.
What would Chutney be charged with besides for killing her dad? She confessed she was really trying to kill Brooke, and she tried to frame Brooke for the crime.
#DumpHim.... you needed your "Dump Him" shirt :) I love this film. Your reactions and explanations were great. I agree that it's obviously unlikely that this high powered partner would let an associate from his own firm supervise a law student in a murder trial but isn't part of the assumption that if he makes a fuss that Elle will bring him up on sexual harassment charges? Even if she is just an intern, he still can't go around pawing up junior employees at his firm. Anyway, great job!! As for your suggestion that we leave requests for other movies for you to react to, one of my favorite court room thrillers is an under-rated 1987 film called SUSPECT, starring Cher and Dennis Quaid, and featuring Liam Neeson, John Mahoney (RIP), and Joe Mantegna. It's really great but I don't want to spoil anything about it. Hopefully you can fit it in. Thanks for the content and keep up the great work.
Agree!!! There are a lot of smart & beautiful blondes who are successful. I just discovered your channel & have found it informative, fun, smart, creative a wide array variety of topics & very entertaining! In one of your videos you mentioned people 40 & under don’t tell dumb blonde jokes… lol that tells my age. Because I’m blonde & was always told blonde jokes. 😉. But I really always loved a good blonde joke. 😂 Love it & your content. #smartbeautifulblondes
You should consider reviewing some of the absolute bs cases mulder brings in in the X Files. If you’ve never seen any of them it normally ends in stuff like someone being arrested by the fbi as an immortal shapeshifter who can climb through vents
I would love to see your reaction to the Casey Anthony trial and the royal F-up of the prosecution. They threw everything against the wall about the murder of Kaylee Anthony and nothing stuck. I think you would do a great job 👏.
First, let me say the only thing I know about law is that I might have broken one a time or two. But I enjoyed listening to these reactions from you and the other lawyers that reacted to it. 👍
This was my favourite movie growing up. I thought Harvard was the only law school in the world for some reason and cause my grandma was a lawyer I told people she went there 😂
My dad went to high school with a guy that had naturally bleach blond hair. All the girls were jealous. I'm blond myself but more sandy blond and my hair has been getting more and more brown as I get older. Fun fact though, 1/3rd of men who are blond have a different color beard. My beard is sort of all over the place but its mostly dark red. My dad's friend, having hair so blond it was almost white...turned out to have a *black.* Beard. It was coal black. He shaved religiously
I’m going into medical soon (68W - and hoping to transition into nursing later on) and think I’d be interesting to see the med-law aspect covered from your end. How you see HIPPA on your side of things, such as how that affects your cases, and what you’ve had to/tried to do in order to receive necessary information, malpractice, and how mental and physical capacity plays into criminal cases. I know my family (a bunch of psych techs and nurses always pissed at politicians, judges and crazy ass families), has varying degrees of trust and mistrust in medical adjacent laws, so I’d be cool to see your point of view
Idk if it's already been said but Elle and the other students are still in their first year. It was even acknowledged when the names were posted about Callahan's firm taking on first year law students
I would have thought that someone at some point might have realized that about perms BEFORE that point, also, judges can't just summarily dismiss cases and set prisoners free - -aren't there supposed to be motions etc.?
I wonder how your thoughts would differ regarding legally blonde the musical, would they mostly be the same or would the changes in the musical change change said thoughts ?
Ooh! I want your take on Gone Girl! Please, please, please! It's an excellent movie, and I think there's a lot to comment on. Also the HBO Perry Mason reboot.
23:31 I'm from latam and I hate how they dubbed that scene in Spanish, she literally says "the gays know about designers, men don't" it's just so homophobic and gross to imply Gay men aren't real men
The part where the girl admits to murder on the stand, is that an accurate depiction of what would happen next? I thought elle would be accused of coercion or something and the confession would be thrown out. I ask because i havent seen anyone address this particular part of the scene

lollllll
She didn't go into prison as an attorney, she claimed to be Brooke's sister.
Right but she's acting as her attorney and then lied to the prison and then asked her questions about her alibi as though she was an attorney. Ethically dubious all around
It's been a while since I watched it, so I don't remember some details...
What was her secret alibi?
@@heimdall1973 She had liposuction.
@@LeejaMiller It's not a lie. She's from the same sorority as Brooke.
@@summerrose8110 ...I missed that connection, but you're right. They just assumed she meant biological sister and no sorority sister
Looking back, law school definitely felt like this when I was in first year.
I felt like the dumbest in my class. I was a graduate of Business Economics, I did not even graduate with honors... Meanwhile, half of my class were DOCTORS and ACCOUNTANTS!
One of my favorite Trixie Marvell quotes is “Maybe she’s born with it, maybe it’s clinical depression”
Oh interesting! I thought they were always too busy. Thanks for watching!!
I did notice a severe lack of attorney roaming when I was a witness in court 🤣
Really cuts down on the flair!
Your presence is calming and intelligent! Thank you love the video! Good vibes from Colorado!
Aw wow thank you so much!!
Part of the comedy is that Elle is right for the wrong reasons a lot. In any case, the witness lied when he said his boyfriend wasn't his boyfriend.
Yea
Her: Are there an ugly people who live in California?
Me: For me, do you wanna see the glass half full or half empty?
Lol. I'm here. 🤪
Ugly Californian reporting for duty!
I really enjoyed this analysis, idk why but these days I just LIVE for in depth Legally Blonde analysis and you definitely didn't disappoint :)
If you like musicals please watch the one for Legally blonde, is my monthly dose of serotonin lol
You're fabulous! This is one of my favorite movies. Thanks for the reaction!

Community has several “law”/“courtroom” scenes that I’d love to see you react to!
Recalling facts is good 😆
That’s right these are essential skills
@@LeejaMiller 🤣🤣🤣🤣 that whole list had me rolling “I object... is a thing some lawyers say”
you seemed to have missed some key points, she wasn't a second year law student she was still a first year. they made a point of saying the firms case load was so big that they were accepting 4 first year interns.
Thank you Leeja!!
omg YESSSS thank you for watching!!
I just came across your channel after viewing That Chapter. I'm Australian but is applicable (common sense really). Love this!!!!
I would love you to watch the episode of monk called “mr monk takes the stand”. There’s a part where a lawyer is definitely behaving in a way that would not be allowed.
I know exactly one good blonde joke, told to me by my Mum:
How do you confuse a blonde?
Paint yourself green and throw spoons at them.
😂😂😂 made me laugh out loud. Thank you! 😘
I, as a brunette, would never be confused by such a thing. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
can you also do "how to get away with murder?"
Ooo I’ve thought about doing that one!! I’ve never watched, devastatingly. But also might make for better videos since I’ve never seen it.
@@LeejaMiller What about a Drop Dead diva episode?
Also in the movie, Elle goes into the prison as her sister named Delta Nu. There is no way you can visit someone in prison with a fake name. You have to show proper ID and go through checks. They would know who she is because she was already there as part of her legal team.
Excellent point !
@@SpyderT22 it is. Elle also used it as her alias lol
Live, Laugh, Love, Loofa
But Not Necessarily In That Order

20:16 - an extended version of this scene, which was cut, shows Elle claiming to be the client's sister (under the name "Delta Nu")
ok I'm a brazilian lawyer and I'm OBSESSED with your videoss
The bend and snap, works everytime! That's true. Love your intelligence and humour. From Sydney, Australia.
Heheheh thank you!!
This was great! Will you do more lawyer movies and make this a whole series?! This was such a fun interesting video!!
5:01 Leeja, you are not ugly! but your reaction really sent me 😆😆😆
Students can be cruel.
thank you for watching!!!!!!
Definitely a labor of love
Wouldn't Wyndham, since she's hired this team, probably try to fire them if her alibi was released without her consenting to her team to do so, especially since she believes it would pose a risk to her business?
Probably! Clients get to do whatever they want
I am an ugly person from California, but it only applies in the rest of the world. As soon as I step foot in my home state I'm an instant 10. ;)
Cali 2 but an Idaho 10 lmao
Leeja, you just gain a fandom from me. Love your videos!
Something about you reminds me of Leslie Knope of Parks and Rec. Or, more accurately, the actress who plays her.
THANK YOU yeah I can see it
I would love to see you react to The Trial of the Chicago 7 movie that just came out!
Ooo i was thinking of doing that one!!!!
I did it
ua-cam.com/video/9HD9p1rdAmU/v-deo.html
MAAM PLEASE DO THIS I looooove Aaron Sorkin and his politico-legal projects
Edit: you did it and I love it
I have to say I'm not to thrilled about the homophobia and pretty aggressive bi-erasure (Lack of acknowledgement that bisexuality exists and some individuals identify as such) in this movie. Like it's a kind of sweet, naïve homophobia and Elle looks just adorable when she talks about it, but it's pretty cringe.
Oh totally! god I feel like there are so many early 2000s movies like that.
Omg fascinating idea on the book review!!! Also I have not heard of All Rise I’ll have to look into it!
@@LeejaMiller it's such a great show! The characters are all very well fleshed out and there are some great storylines. They even covered the impact of the coronavirus on the legal system in their last episode before they had to halt production.
I like that the first half of the movie is somewhat plausible. It only falls apart once they start the internship and the trial.
Which, honestly is kind of understand for a fiction movie if this type.
"All those opposed to chafing, please say 'aye.'" *Iconic.*
This isn't a movie or TV show but have you considered the Legally Blonde musical? There's a professionally filmed recording of it on youtube, though it's 360p iirc, and imo they changed enough in relation to the law part to make it worth a reaction(for example, and spoiler alert obviously, in the court scene instead of telling the story about her sorority sister, everyone straight-up GOES to the bathroom where the alleged shower took place)
best blonde joke ive seen:
"The man is very excited by this prospect of sitting next such a beautiful woman but is displeased when she turns onto her side, facing away from him to fall asleep. And then you can ask me a question and if I can't answer it I'll give you $500!"
This causes the woman to sit straight up and pay attention. "Wait, what is the answer to the question?" The woman hands the man $5."
good shit lol
I live in Los Angeles, and a lot of blondes out here aren't that pretty like the ones in the movie. You wanted someone from CA to comment. Well, here it is.
Ooo very interesting development, good to know thank you
You are smashing! Great content!
Omg thank you!!
“My roots are fresh!” 😂
What would Chutney be charged with besides for killing her dad? She confessed she was really trying to kill Brooke, and she tried to frame Brooke for the crime.
Attempted murder perhaps? Or Intent to kill?
She should be charged solely on that perm.
Came here for law vs legally blonde content, stayed because Leeja has the same eyebrows as me, so now I am emotionally invested.
Glad to find you, you’re fun! Thanks for reviewing Bussy’s review!
#DumpHim.... you needed your "Dump Him" shirt :)
I love this film.

While a good lawyer knows the law, a great lawyer knows the judge.
You should consider reviewing some of the absolute bs cases mulder brings in in the X Files. If you’ve never seen any of them it normally ends in stuff like someone being arrested by the fbi as an immortal shapeshifter who can climb through vents
Omg I LOVE that
I would love to see your reaction to the Casey Anthony trial and the royal F-up of the prosecution.

I can tell you’re legit because even during funny moments you remain poker faced as if listening intently 😭
You're my new fav lawyer!
We drink wine at our small law firm, too.
I would have thought that someone at some point might have realized that about perms BEFORE that point, also, judges can't just summarily dismiss cases and set prisoners free - -aren't there supposed to be motions etc.?
from all of my friends, i allways give the best legal advise. Whenever someone has a question, i tell them to go talk to a lawyer.
