- Here are clips of 4 iconic Enduro World Series trails from my recent trip to Blue Derby, Tasmania. All of these trails are in the Black Stump area of the trail network.
The EWS has been in Derby twice and on both occasions the trail of the year was awarded to the round. In 2017 Detonate took the crown and 2019 Kumma-Gutza came in first spot. The riders vote for their favourite stage. This says a lot about the quality of these iconic MTB trails.
Out of 4 Kumma-Gutza was probably my favourite. It has some great technical sections but also flow and high speed. This would have been closely followed by Trouty. Riding down those massive granite rock slabs with views of Derby in the distance was pretty special. Even the climb up to Trouty (which takes about 40mins to an hour) was beautiful.
I found Detonate and Shearpin kind of hard so enjoyed them less. I probably just suck.
I'd love to go back and actually scope some lines. Apart from Kumma-Gutza (which I rode twice) I only did one lap of each trail.
Hope you enjoy and get a chance to ride the trails yourself one day.
0:38 Kumma-Gutza
6:02 Trouty
10:29 Detonate
15:17 Shearpin

I have a feeling the gopro effect comes well into play here. Sick riding & vid 👍🏼
There are steep bits for sure!
was thinking the same but still sick nonetheless!
Subbed. Love the broad range of content you have here. Especially Blue Derby Trails. About to head down there soon. Thanks for showing some of the trails.
Awesome - you will love it. I can't wait to go back!
Awesome vid!
Missing some Aussie trails after watching this, nice riding 👌
They sound like I9 hubs
Spot on. I9 hydra.
I wonder if the audio could be any louder
How many days would you need to do derby and maydena? (Planning my trip)
I think you need 2-3 days for Derby and 3-4 for Maydena. You could do less at Maydena but you probably won't feel comfortable enough on the trails after 1 run down so I'd recommend the extra day.
@@saintberry sweet! Thanks mate
Nice I loved it! I live in australia and watching these make me want to ride at Blue Derby so bad! Also do you think for these type of trails you shoud use tubeless tires or tires with tubes?
It's so much fun there. Hopefully the borders open up soon. I would always recommend a tubeless setup. And for a trip to Derby it might even be a good idea to get some inserts. The extra weight is better than having a broken rim or flat tyre end your MTB holiday.
Ok thanks for the help 👍🏻 Hopefully the borders will open up soon too and it will be before snake season! 🐍
@@Lucas-hk6gn I heard there are a lot of tiger snakes down there. I never saw any at Derby but did see some at Maydena. Luckily never on the trails. Make sure you can bunny hop I guess haha. Riding in summer in Australia hey... I almost ran into a black snake sunning itself in a berm on the flow trail at Thredbo last year!
Tubes if you burb tubless Hard to reseat 2.6 2.8 tyres without tube No prickles just big Boondies
Hot as fffff mate
