Sweet. I just ordered a Mt Shasta Summit, and my bed rack is about mid cab like yours, so 3 minutes is lookin pretty dang good to me. Hoping to make it to Bend to pick it up next weekend!
Hi Jason, really great channel, I originally subscribed based on my interest in roof top tents. I'm placing a Smittybilt on a 2014 Subaru Forester XT today. That combo will not fit under my garage door. I have a 2002 GMC Sierra and am very interested in moving the tent to that. Hence my question - what is the model number of the Thule rack on your F250? I would want something with a low profile like yours. I think maybe it's the Thule 500XT Xsporter Pro with Load Stops, which Rackattack indicates is a fit for the Sierra. I'll just watch your channel while waiting for the snow to melt north of Atlanta.
It is the Thule Xsporter I don't remember there being a 500XT in front that though but maybe they have changed something since I got mine year ago. Jason
I opened and set mine up yesterday in 6:59 but that was the whole thing, spring rods all the way around plus mine is the ranier extended version. Closing it takes about 10:00 and some change. I’ve got the same rack and set up as you.
I have the Mt Shasta Pioneer and it takes me about 10 min to set up and maybe 20 to take down. Mostly because my tent is really high in the air. I have mine on top of an ARE DCU shell. A also have a Gen 1 Toyota Taco with a 3 inch lift and 33 inch tires It's up in the air quite ways. If I don't do anything with the widows it only takes me about 5 minuets. Full set up with the annex and all the stakes it takes me about 40 mins. But I hardly ever set it up all the way unless I am planning on staying for multiple days.
How long does it take take you to put away your mt Shasta? Any tips would help because I usually stow mine by myself. Especially in the cold probably doesn't help since the fabric gets tighter.. thanks
It doesn't take me that long I have never timed it but maybe twice what it takes me to open it, your situation my vary based on yours is mounted. Jason
It's usually just the zipping up that I struggle with. I have a condensation mat which probably adds some thickness to the tent when folded plus my sleeping bags that I leave in there so it takes some squeezing to close up. I don't know maybe the fabric just needs to break in
Good afternoon Jason, great video as always. Have a question , what rack are you using, from other videos seems like it's thule, any specific model ? Should be universal ? I have f150 that I'd like put rtt on it.
I think so, I know Thule is adjustable to size truck, the Rainier tent is 72" wide so if that isn't longer than your bed then it should be good, or could look at their Mt Shasta which 56" wide. Jason
What about the cover after deployment? I see it just hanging there, what If I have it on a trailer and want to access storage. Seems like a blanket hanging in the wind. Is there a recommended solution?
I moved to the northwest not too long ago and found ur channel. Awesome. Do you have any beginners tips u can share. Like how to get started and where to go?
You are already doing the first step and that is to get on UA-cam and do some research, get some basic gear(don't spend too much at first) and hit some local campgrounds on fair weather days and then build your gear and confidence from there. Jason
I love most of your videos. you are one of 5 channels that I subscribe to. but these roof top tent videos are getting old. I will still keep you around though.
Thanks, simple and to the point!
Man, I really want a CVT so bad! One day. Thanks Jason for the video.
I am glad you enjoyed the video, just spent 4 days in my CVT I really enjoy it, very handy for my camping style.

The extended does add a bit more and if you put all the windows out, I figure that was decent time, all and all that is still pretty dang quick.

Its the Thule Xsporter, and I think it would work fine on your truck, I think it is fairly universal.
Jason
I've got a 2wd Silverado crew cab short bed. Would this tent fit with your same setup? Thule rack etc.
I think so, I know Thule is adjustable to size truck, the Rainier tent is 72" wide so if that isn't longer than your bed then it should be good, or could look at their Mt Shasta which 56" wide.

The cover can slide off if you need it to.

What Thule model ladder rack is that??
I would like to get a decent truck to buy one of these cascadia bed tents.
Faded Jate you can put them on anything provided you have some sort of rack even a Honda Civic
Yes, I have seen them on all kinds of vehicles you just need a decent rack to attach it to.

Sorry, your not enjoying the videos, but unfortunately I can't please everyone, I can only do what I enjoy some will like and some won't.
