- Mahindra Scorpio Classic 2022 gets an upgraded diesel engine that is slightly lower down on power but a whopping 55kg lighter making it faster, smoother and more refined than the old Scorpio. We have tested the acceleration performance of the Scorpio Classic 2022 and also driven it over a variety of roads to test the improvements to ride and handling. Editor Sirish Chandran tests the Scorpio Classic and asks if at Rs 15.49 lakh the SUV is still relevant.

I thought the newer engine wouldn't sound as good as the 2179 cc mHawk diesel which was present in the older 2014 and 2018 models, but the acceleration test from 7:37 proved me wrong! Nice review as always!

Scorpio N, scorpio classic and xuv700 waiting period is 6months to 1 year. Majority of the people wont wait and mahindra will end up showing their cars only for window shopping

Ya but this is 3rd gen scorpio chassis,that used in thar2020& boleroneo, ScorpioN and upcoming thar5door and may even underpin upcoming all new bolero....So chassis is literally new with old shells on it.
Scorpio is same but platform is new

Review and all is good. But do hire someone to work on the audio volume level corrections/adjustments. Music is freaking loud, voice is very low, and indoor mic has a lot of disturbance.

One update @Sirish , I drove Scorpio classic the very next day at showroom , you won't believe the clutch was one of the lightest clutch that I have ever driven . Possible that the car you were driving could have wear and tear Of clutch.. Just thought to update you..

Scorpio classic needs 4x4 option to justify presence in the market.
Actually it doesn't. This one is intended for buyers in smaller towns who need a rugged machine at a lower price (including owners graduating from the Bolero, which is another capable machine in the same sense) and don't care much about modern creature comforts. The 4x4 owners/aspirants is anyways a niche community and they can always find better options, including the Scorpio-N and the Thar.

Well, this car sucks big time. Idk what kind of attraction people have over it but the driving dynamics are trash, Body roll is sooo much that you literally can't handle it. The interiors looks trash too for a 15-16 lakh car.
