The production on this album is ace. So much space between the instruments and the vocals on top of it all. Reminds me of Nigel Godrich and his great Radiohead albums.
This song sends shivers down my spine. It is AMAZING!! It's so different from anything else and I can't stop playing it. Wow! It's like going on a journey and each time I hear it, it takes me to a new place. It has mystery and layers. It's haunting!
An Irish friend I met recently showed me this album, 4 weeks ago. I had listened to this band ages ago as my then bf had showed me this but I wasn’t obviously into this kind of music back then. I spent days listening to this band last 3 weeks and I absolutely love the songs now. Funny how I have always loved how Irish language sound when Irish people speak :) Thanks for the album and thanks to the friend from the festival last month who showed me this ☺️
Go raibh maith agaibh as seo a chairde. Is scéal tábhachtach é do dhaoine. Thank you for this friends. It's an important story for people to know about. Maith sibh.
Thank you for the confidence and ability to use the Irish language in music of this genre....all without the usual shame and disdain of young Irish in the desperation to sound American/British and cover the embarrassment of being Irish.
Brilliant. Defiant. Disgusting that the Church of England didnae allow the Irish language on a woman's gravestone. Jist a few years ago! Great piece of work lads.
What I really like about the song are the upcoming guitars during each part of the song, as they seem to intensify they never really come through. Making it very powerful and energetic almost ‘firestarter’ alike. Also the meaning of the song about a mother who passed away and their children wanting to put the titelsong phrase on their mothers tombstone, being not allowed to, and going to court over it to pursue Irish language on a tombstone in England is really heart touching, and Fontaines DC dedicating a song to this even more so!
Never has Resistance Music been more important than now, Free Palestine 🇵🇸 love getting to know this band! ☘️ take care of yourselves boys, do it YOUR WAY it’s 2024 ! Your Way or no way, keep your wits about yas! 👏 🎉
This is am amazing track. I first heard it on Irish radio a couple of weeks ago and it stopped me in my tracks. l love the choral singing and the whole sound and feeling of this song. Now checking out the album and it's superb so far. What a fascinating band. They clearly like to experiment, as it sounds like almost a different band from their earlier songs.
I am so glad the family won the court case for this inscription on the mother's grave. I belon th to the Church of England, but their stance on this was ridiculous
This song is timeless and this complete album also. When this planet stops with turning than there's one thing that haven't stopped and that is this song from the Fontaines DC
'a millenia it took For our paths to cross.. Some bafflin element Blocked our full meeting.. Now, again, a millenia.. Perhaps If ever I fear never.. Such is the fate.. And to fight and distort fate May have consequence Upon others Innocent Which I could not bear Upon my conscience And so farewell and be well Live life hard And determined Stretch for stars Burn your hands Bandage them Stretch again..'
Tom’s drums are incredibly amazing on every track of this album
Nowt new that tho 👌👍
Drummers never get enough love. Tom is always amazing 👌
He's totally underated
Agreed. He worked with some great ones at BIMM. Really feel Dave Hingerty’s spirit in this one.

This is a ridiculously good opening track
I know! I was knocked out when I heard this. It's incredible!

amazing work lads!
Powerful and beautiful.
Amazing story about the will of the family this song is about, as well as this proper tribute. 💚
Saw them last month in Stockholm, brilliant gig, brilliant band.

That’s interesting
No it was just one shitty provincial Midlands council that made that decision not the whole of England and it was completely destroyed in the courts.
My tattooist turned me on to the DC. Unbelievable band. Haunting track
This literally caught me off guard and gave me full body shivers when the changeup happened

This was their opening song in Primavera Sound, and it was the first time I hear it. I will never forget the feeling this song gave me.

Scrumptious
words to try to describe feelings..
Nothing else, you just have to listen to it again
'a millenia it took
For our paths to cross..
Some bafflin element
Blocked our full meeting..
Now, again, a millenia..
Perhaps
If ever
I fear never..
Such is the fate..
And to fight and distort fate
May have consequence
Upon others
Innocent
Which I could not bear
Upon my conscience
And so farewell and be well
Live life hard
And determined
Stretch for stars
Burn your hands
Bandage them
Stretch again..'
Love that they're embracing their Irishness with the use of Gaelic.
