She was a vocal powerhouse and could never truly be replaced in the group. I tear up every time I hear her on lead. She appeared to be a wonderful human being. Truly a tragic loss.
Among the Grace Thrillers' most captivating, vibrant, and gifted young vocalists was Rushell Johnson. Rushell passed away in that terrible vehicle accident back in 2001, she was the youngest member of the group. The last time i saw Rushell performing was when the Grace Thrillers was the closing act on a concert in Montego Bay. The entire Creek Street, Water Lane, and Doom Street in Montego Bay was blocked as everyone wanted to see the Grace Thrillers closing the show and that's when I last saw her. When Rushell took the mike to lead the Grace Thrillers, she was in her element and her ministry had a unique quality. She ministered masterfully that night and her voice was as usual spirit filled as she navigated hit songs such as "O the Glory of Jesus" amongst others. After that powerful performance in Montego Bay, I prayed for that girl every night as I had the chance to speak with her after her memorable performance in Montego Bay. She was so down to earth that after the show was closed, i was confident so i went and spoke with her congratulating her and telling her how good she was. Sadly, we learned of the horrific accident a few months after the concert on Love 101, and she was fighting for her life at either the KPH or the UHWI. I believe what we heard was UHWI. Regretfully, we learned that she had transitioned on Love 101 who kept us up-to-date with the unfortunate story. I attended to her funeral at the Spanish Town Church of God of Prophecy on Old Harbour Road after telling myself I could not miss this. Shirley was too overwhelmed to sing at her burial, but the Grace Thrillers (Leroy, Patricia, Dianne, Latoya & Noel) captivated the crowd with their peerless performance. That was a huge funeral. Rushell was a gospel minister of no mean order, and her voice was heavenly and strong. I shall always remember her. She had a great spirit and would inevitably take the lead alongside Patricia, Shirley, and Leroy. This powerful minister and vocalist had just begun to flourish when she passed away. Thank you for sharing this memory and may God continue to grant her a peaceful resting place.

I remember her ,i went by my hairdresser round by Horizon park and saw her, she told me to give my soul to the Lord,about a month later my hairdresser told me she as died in an accident.i could not believe it troubled me so much.may her sweet soul Rip❤

Glad I had a chance to see her in probably what was her last overseas concert in Philadelphia before her untimely death. She was truly a pure soul and fantastic singer! Compliments to you and the season Mr Salmon and a big thanks to you for refreshing our memory and updating us on ONE of our deceased Female, and Lead Singer FROM One of our Favorite and Best Gospel Group Singers from Jamaica. As a child growing up back in the days with my Stepfather and my Mother who was a Christian at that time the Grace Thrillers and the Skeeter Davis Albums was the two most playing Albums to plays on my Stepfather's Record Changer. Each time the LP is playing on the Turn Table i would take up the Empty Album with the Picture's of the Grace Thriller Singers on it and began to name them out. Looking at the singers on the Album they looked and sings as if they were Matured Adults to me at that time in the 19 80's. I did no that Jacinth was so young and Secondly i didn't even know that she had passed away. Sad to here; may her soul REST in Sweet Peace ❤❤❤❤❤😢😢😢GONE but not forgotten R. I. P my dear

Yes I remember her always coming to my mother church to perform in Spanish town. Also remember the incident that the driver was drunk ,not sure if he was ever charged but was a sad time rip Rochelle.
Miss Jascinth Rochelle Johnson she was a teacher that teach little children, she was very nice to children. She will be sadly missed my friend family and loved one.
Wow...its been over twenty years but this tragedy wont be forgotten...I knew her brother and mother. In fact my mother is a survivor from the same accident. Sadly, my brother died on the scene. In my view, it seems like nothing coukd have prevented this accident .. as a huge Leyland truck had been in front of the car but the force of that initial impact from the Isuzu with the leyland truck was too great. I went on the scene and personally witnessed what had sadly unfolded.
Such a tragic loss at a young age. 🙏🏾🙏🏾 They should put the information of her being one of the Grace Thrillers on her grave. Maybe a plaque. We do that for other singers.
Sandra sang lead a number of hits, including Lest I Forget, Forward, Crown Him Lord of All, Majesty and I think she was also lead on Living Water. She sung a bit higher up the range back then and her voice had a softer timber. Upon going solo, her voice appeared to take on a deeper and heavier tone.
Yes Mr Fray was and still my neighbour, u kno up until now his Father Mr Fray is still not been himself although for soo many years, he still worried along with his brothers too, Mr Fray the Father keep wondering if its is real real real, anyway his moods off n oon. N interesting she died tragically in June n was buried the same month June. Nowadays tragic deaths taking up to 3 or more months for burial but I guess this could be linked to an increase in the number of tragic and other suspicious deaths requiring an autopsy hence ...

No that's not Rushell....she has lead vocals on the albums: I Will be with You and songs: O the Glory of Jesus and I pledge Allegiance to the Lamb. She shared lead with Shirley, Patricia and Leroy on many other albums including: Can't even walk, Merry Christmas, Traditional Gospel Classics, and a few on Why. She also Deejay on the remix of giving me a sunlight Jesus. Once you hear a deep powerful alto like and sultry voice on any of those albums; that voice is most likely than not Russell's. But, She is most famous for her lead on "O the Glory of Jesus".

I'm completely baffled that there are no videos of their hit songs and many live performances and I'm positive some of their song videos used to be in heavy rotation on TV back in the day. Yes I remember her always coming to my mother church to perform in Spanish town. Also remember the incident that the driver was drunk ,not sure if he was ever charged but was a sad time rip Rochelle.

Miss Jascinth Rochelle Johnson she was a teacher that teach little children, she was very nice to children. She will be sadly missed my friend family and loved one.

Wow...its been over twenty years but this tragedy wont be forgotten...I knew her brother and mother. In fact my mother is a survivor from the same accident. Sadly, my brother died on the scene. In my view, it seems like nothing coukd have prevented this accident .. as a huge Leyland truck had been in front of the car but the force of that initial impact from the Isuzu with the leyland truck was too great. I went on the scene and personally witnessed what had sadly unfolded.

I didn't know that Sandra brooks was a part of the grace thrillers....I think George banton use to be a part of the grace thrillers too.
Sandra sang lead a number of hits, including Lest I Forget, Forward, Crown Him Lord of All, Majesty and I think she was also lead on Living Water. She sung a bit higher up the range back then and her voice had a softer timber. Upon going solo, her voice appeared to take on a deeper and heavier tone.

Yes Mr Fray was and still my neighbour, u kno up until now his Father Mr Fray is still not been himself although for soo many years, he still worried along with his brothers too, Mr Fray the Father keep wondering if its is real real real, anyway his moods off n oon. Rip ship to both of them who pass oon in that accident. 😢😢😢

This is quite interesting - just recently I remembered about her n wondered about a good Christian dying in that way (@ the time). May she continue to rest in peace. ... N interesting she died tragically in June n was buried the same month June. Nowadays tragic deaths taking up to 3 or more months for burial but I guess this could be linked to an increase in the number of tragic and other suspicious deaths requiring an autopsy hence ...

I met her the sunday and asked her to continue a Sunday school class for kids which I kept at my home and she gladly accepted, ( thats Morgans Lene opposite Homstead. No that's not Rushell....she has lead vocals on the albums: I Will be with You and songs: O the Glory of Jesus and I pledge Allegiance to the Lamb. She shared lead with Shirley, Patricia and Leroy on many other albums including: Can't even walk, Merry Christmas, Traditional Gospel Classics, and a few on Why. She also Deejay on the remix of giving me a sunlight Jesus. Once you hear a deep powerful alto like and sultry voice on any of those albums; that voice is most likely than not Russell's. But, She is most famous for her lead on "O the Glory of Jesus".

@@JamaicanChapterplease do. There's like no information on the Grace Thrillers anywhere on the internet. The little info that's there is more geared towards the new generation. I'm completely baffled that there are no videos of their hit songs and many live performances and I'm positive some of their song videos used to be in heavy rotation on TV back in the day. The legacy needs to be kept alive.
