What preset did Fred Mandel use on a Jupiter 8 to get the synth guitar solo?
Michael Langley Wasn't a Roland at all. Oberheim OB-X.
It definitely sounds to me that he was using the unison setting in the Jupiter, couple that with maybe both VCO's on sawtooth, slightly detuned, filter cutting quite heavily the sound, lots of resonance, sharp but noticeable attack in the filter envelope and sustain all the way open, "gate style" setting on the amplitude envelope (all sustain, nothing else), and lots of play with the LFO trigger button and the bender, of course modulating the VCO. Set it far enough so you can do the whole octave bend downwards at the end.
@@gasolineandwine It is Jupiter,I saw one of Queen rare live shows where they were actually performing without playing,music was playing from PA and Freddy was lip synced,I swear.On stage John played on Jupiter 8 the intro and the bridge.

Meanwhile, sometimes I found "instrumental cover" for a song on your channel, which gived me flashbacks around General-MIDI based karaoke "things". Horrible flashback. As when I was young, AND went to a "karaoke bar" they all runs the exact same .rmi (only legends know, what is that extension) "covers" and using a projector mostly, to give readable lyrics. The lyrics are animated, timed, but the "song" is just a revenge to my ears.
