I recently discovered on line that a biopic about the Bee Gees is due to be made. No doubt much shall be mentioned about their recording of the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. It brought them back into the public eye. In the early to mid 70s they had been regarded as has beens.

These days every other film is a sequel, prequel, remake or T.V spin off. In short, successful films get reboots. In 1983 Saturday Night Fever had a sequel, Staying Alive. Apparently, it did pretty well at the box office, but many people said they found it disappointing. I have often wondered if a second sequel could be made. Perhaps we could discover why Father Frank junior left the Catholic Church. These days people may wonder if he had been misbehaving with choirboys!? It would be interesting to discover what became of the late Bobby Cs fatherless offspring. Did Joey and Double J ever forgive Gus? How well did Gus get on with his old friends after he was discharged from hospital?

I think it *could've" worked, or atleast been better than the plot of "Staying Alive".

@@mikesmoviereviews ..Back then, I remember reading that one of the original, darker ideas (for "Staying Alive"), was that Tony became a junkie/drug addict battling between the drugs and trying to be a professional dancer. That would have been an interesting storyline.

I once read in a John Travolta biography that there had been talk of a second Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. In this potential sequel Tony had made it in showbiz, but he had become a has been. Many stars find it devastating when their careers go downhill then disappear. It makes you wonder if they would have been happier in the long run if they had never made it. Many ex stars go broke when their showbiz work stops coming in.

Sorry, for some reason my mobile had typed SOUNDTRACK when I had meant to type SEQUEL. However, people say things happen for a reason. Some of the subjects I had mentioned in my previous message would sound very interesting on a movie soundtrack album, especially if it had some dialogue from the film on it.

I wonder why Tony’s brother left the priesthood, this is never fully explained.

I always suspected perhaps he envied Tony's freedom?

To me it seemed like he was never into it and did it for his mom, essentially living out her dreams and that is never a good thing and usually comes to a quick end as it did here.

Go ahead and read the lyrics to the song greased lightning
How they got away with that I’ll never know

Greased lightening is from the film Grease not Saturday Night Fever.
