Hey everyone, happy International Dr. Powerslide upload day! It's totally a real holiday, just don't look it up. I just wanted to add a few comments in addition to what I said here, as I know some people might consider "buying" the game as a result of my video. I'm a bit split on recommending Motorfest to every other Horizon fan, as it's a Ubisoft game, which is probably one of, if not the worst company in the gaming industry as a whole. But, if the online-only and microtransactions don't throw you off, just keep in mind that the core moment-to-moment gameplay is still inferior to any Forza game. Cars feel way too back heavy, and as a result, oversteering one too many times usually results in you spinning way out of control. It's not horrible, but the handling model still has a lot of room for improvement. The Grand Race is also exactly how I mentioned it in the video lol. It's very chaotic (especially during the beginning parts), so if you only like serious racing, it's probably not for you. The bottom line is that Horizon 5 is a sandbox, while Motorfest is a blend between a racer and a sandbox. If you don't like being forced to drive slow(ish) cars for a while before owning supercars, I can't recommend this game to you. I'd also be remiss if I mentioned The Crew and didn't bring up #STOPKILLINGGAMES. I like Motorfest, but I don't like Ubisoft's treatment of their customers. Also, keep in mind that the game has a 60FPS cap. My PC Gamer brain was not happy. Anyways, editing this video was a lot of work. I'm going to go play a video game or something. I'll be back with the next video by the 7th! (for real this time)
FH5 is good for if you want to drive different types of cars from microcars to big trucks and also its more community focused and Motorfest is more for exploration, customisation and just cruising around, also with FH5 you won't get rammed by noobs when you're driving around minding your own business.
A few things that FH5 has that Motorfest lacks is conventional everyday cars, FH5 gets cars like the VW Santana/Passat and Nissan Tsuru wheras Motorfest adds supercars. FH5 also gives the players cars that they want every now and then. I like Motorfest and its fun but i prefer FH5 because i can experiment with different cars and make different builds.
TBH There are certain parts of this game that I love like: The varied playlists like you mentioned that have a lot of different themes and modes to fool around with. The vintage playlist is definitely one of the standouts along with Gymkana, The newer Hollywood Playlist, The Electric car playlist, the motorcycle playlist and the Concept car events, etc The superior 1st person view + hand over hand animations being varied and turning more than 900 degrees lolz. The fact that your avatar can roll down the window and have their arm out while cruising is pretty fuckin cool IMO -The variety in vehicles including monster trucks, planes, motorcycles and motocross bikes, boats, etc. This definitely makes the game stand out from FH and allowing the game to shine in that regard. The grand races are fun once you up your skills and know how to properly navigate them and despite the rammers and what not, its still fun to battle with other races until the very end. The summit races & events are fun competition. The different races plus various modifiers that they used to keep the variety up is a very good thing. Unlimited nitrous on a high speed course or a slightly technical one is fucking fun AF(It does have flaws tho & they'll be mentioned below) The World really does feel more alive and lived in & a lot of the roads are fun to drive on! and there are things that I do not like/find very annoying Like: The handling/physics in this game are NOT Better Than FH5. It is a major step up from TC2 but besides tha, The physics and handling are designed with understeer in mind during faster corners and oversteer is an issue in slower corners on many cars thanks to throttle feedback that isn't as good as it should be. The understeer and the fact that the cars being heavy/floaty is a major issue. So much so that the sweaty players decided to download a 3rd party exploit that allowed you to use wheel mode on their controllers giving them a noticeable advantage(Not an insane one mind you since you still need to have good driving skills to win but still). The built in slight delay on consoles(I Don't know if PC version has it or nah) The devs had to give the direct mode to everybody as a result and it was a step on the right direction i'll admit despite being hella twitchy. Also, the majority of popular TCM youtubers will submit pro setting tunes to most cars that mainly mitigate the understeer that they have and make them more responsive. The cars also do not feel the same in FH5 that's Cap IMO. A rally car did not feel the same as an exotic and an exotic did not feel the same as a more nimble sedan lol. Turn the assists off and you'll see for yourself Lol. The grind to get certain vehicles is too much and many races need to have their rewards upped a bit. Not an insanely high amount mind you but just enough to where the grind isnt too bad. For example, 15 to 18k races need to be upped to like 30-38k, 75k races upped to 80k and 30k races upped to like 40 to 42k respectively. Keep car prices the same and you'll have a somewhat better balance and player would be more likely to come back to these playlists instead of playing them once and then forgetting about most of them. The microtransactions also fucking suck in this game and I'm glad that FH5 doesn't have them. The updates for TCM so far are also not as good as FH5 because FH5 made some major changes and had more consistent updates/free features over the 8 month course of the games life(not all of the updates are perfect mind you but still). The lack of new content(Both PvP and Singleplayer content) for TCM so far has been somewhat lacking IMO. We only have like 3 modes for PvP and the playlists are good but get repetitive after a while. FH 5 also had 2 whole expansions that were a breath of fresh air IMO. TCM need a race creator and more PvP modes. They also need more singleplayer expansions for a decent price. Now about the summit's flaws, the fact that resets are a legit game tactic gets annoying after a while and should be nerfed by having the car starting from a dead start or prevent it from being used completely to make it a little more fair. They also need to ban exploiters and cheaters in the summit mode. They also need to remove co-op from it because solo ppl who don't have friends or partners would be put at a major disadvantage. The Traffic during certain feats like escape and slalom is wayy too high and needs to be reduced. The rubberband AI can be too much sometimes. They will pass you sometimes as if you're standing still and it gets infuriating when they do it last minute. All in All: this game is a lot of fun and it can compliment FH 5 nicely but tbh some if its flaws are very noticeable and need to be addressed ASAP! Also buy TCM when its on sale and not at full price!
Very interesting and important points covered throughout the video , well explained ! 👏❤. Motorfest is definitely not boring at all , really cool graphics and car models that grab my attention.
Great video man! I legit thought I was watching a youtuber with 250k-500k subs until I went to comments. Amazing quality, keep it up! I also like the thing when you show a progress bar when there's a pause or a clip. Creative.
I love Motorfest and TC2 they are like Horizon but instead of getting everything for free u grind insane amounts to get what u want instead + vanities are cool asf
I will tell you the truth of this game. It's BORING after you complete all. 17 Playlist is not enough, the map doesn't have enough rhings to do to be an open world, not all the cars have good customization, those 600+ cars are recycled model cars in it's mayority, the playlist look good but become generic when replay with another car, the pvp it's as good as bad because you only have 2 modes and the summits that are also boring replays of the playlist with a generic ambientation. This was also a DLC for The Crew 2, the handling it's good but it's to hard for an arcade game. The game it's full of Bugs and it's also online only. All of this for 70 dollars.
And with Forza, you have at least one new car to unlock each week meanwhile you need to wait ages for one car to drop in Motorfest, it does get boring after you complete playlists.
Yo great video man! Keep it up! Just curious, have you checked back on NFS Unbound yet? It just got an update based on NFS Underground. Including drag races, a new drift handling model, new cars, a lot of bug fixes and quality of life changes. At the moment it's been given a lot of praise. Maybe you can check it out? Because I'm loving it so much right now! P.S. Keep up the great content! ❤
You completely lost me when you said all cars in Horizon handle the same, that's objectively false, this video comes off as you seeing things as being better in motorfest when they aren't because it feels somewhat new and different and you've gotten a bit jaded with Horizon after five games. The car list in motorfest is bloated with made up "special edition" versions of cars to pad out the roster, it's grindy as hell and the physics model while good and an improvement over the crew 2 still isn't as good as Horizon with cars still feeling like they're made out of lead especially when jumping them. The map in motorfest is good but the idea the roads are better for racing than Horizon is laughable, the highways are terrible for trying to max out the faster cars as tight turns and traffic will ensure you crash before you've hit your nice new Chiron SS's top speed. Horizon has a lot more to do in terms of different modes both online and offline, you could spend hundreds of hours in event lab alone, motorfest has only two online game modes, the playlists are quite good though. It's a good game, I've enjoyed playing it but Horizon is still top dog.
Fair critique, and I can see where a lot of your points come from. I have gotten a bit tired of Horizon's problems over the past few years, and Motorfest in many ways, feels like they are addressing them. Cars in Horizon feel very similar to one another, though they may not drive that way. This is probably subjective, but older cars to me felt more like how I would expect them to drive in Motorfest. I still feel that the special editions of cars are an interesting way of adding character and style to each vehicle. Ubisoft loves to pad out numbers, but I'm not sure if adding these cars was done specifically with that intent. I'm also not a fan of Horizon 5's map, as while the handling model is good, there are often too many curves for me to be able to drive fast, especially compared to the previous entries. There's no punishment for taking your McLaren Senna out onto the dirt, and given how sharp many of the game's curves are (combined with the breakable guard rails), it sometimes even feels encouraged. I will concede that Horizon has a better online mode, however. I still think that there needs to be something done about the number of rammers in every lobby, but overall it's much better than Motorfest. I think both games are good, but I enjoyed Motorfest a bit more than Horizon 5.
