When I trained in a boxing gym I actually preferred the uppercut bag over the heavy bag. Its shape allowed you to land more of a variety of punches. A funny story of how I got a nickname because of the uppercut bag. I learned to pick one spot on the bag and hammer it repeatedly with hooks and uppercuts until a glove shaped pocket formed. Accurately hitting that dent made a loud popping noise like you would hear when hitting focus mits. One of the coaches watched me and was like "Aw look at killa here!" From that point on every time I came into the gym when he was there he yelled out "IT'S KILLAAAAAAA!"
I been to the gym one time. You're a great coach. These videos must be for guys who do home training. Me being who I am, I need to be there learning hands on. Great videos
It's good also if you don't have a trainer or if your coach at the gym doesn't focus on you enough. Our coach is usually doing mitt work with his sons or people getting ready for fights. Which is understandable, but the rest of us are missing out on training. I've learned more about boxing from UA-cam than the coach at my gym.
@@SantaWithGuns Isn't that sad? There's just not enough master trainers teaching HOW TO TRAIN boxers. The good ones are too busy and too expensive and the bad ones just take your money and stick you on a bag till you wear yourself out ave leave. :/
Tom Yankello is also Top Notch. Teddy Atlas right? I don't know if he still trains people though. I'd tend to doubt it. Fran Sands is another. The pandemic drove a lot of this too. I think people should still exercise extreme caution in ANY gyms now that Fall is here. Trainers should probably only do 1 on 1 and for an hour per person to have adequate time for all their students. Lots of sweating and heavy breathing does not bode well for many. There is no cure. There is no safe vaccine. There is no bs "herd immunity"(takes several generations to achieve and ya ain't even got it for the regular flu 😂). COVID is also 15x MORE contagious than the flu. I'm harping because I care. Please keep yourself and your fighters healthy and well Coach. :)
Your a very technical I like the fact that you truly know the basics. I was wondering where your located and would like possibly train there I have some experience
Nice Vid. Upper cut bag is something no gym should be without IMO. Helps work the head movement too, as you demonstrated. Keep going with the vids! Would love to see one about how you approach the double-end bag. I've seen a couple different ways to work it, would be interested on your take on it. FYI I share your vids a lot. Keep it up!
From a martial arts perspective (taekwondo and kickboxing), he should've turned pro, he throws his punches from his hips instead of shoulders like you see a lot of boxers do, it would be extremely difficult to read his punches since his movement is so clean.
ON EVERYTHING I LOVE......AND ASK ALL THE TRAINERS IN THE GYM WHAT I DO TO THIS BAG. *Im punching this ENTIRE BAG up in the AIR until the chain was FULLY EXTENDED IN THE AIR with BOTH HANDS. And when I THROW HOOKS it slames against the side frames like the SPEED BAG with BOTH HANDS. *I have EXTREME POWER..
Hello Coach Anthony. I have quite interesting question about defense. Could you tell me what form of defense in your opinion is better, peekaboo or philly shell? Which one gives you better protection, better conditions to deliver nice counters, which is better when you want to tire your opponent? I tried to figure it out, but they both have some pros and cons. Maybe it is worth to use them bot, and mix it, like sometimes Maywether does? But then new questions appears: how to choose a good one for particular situation? I think it would be a great topic for one of your videos, but I would be really glad if you could answer me ( shortly ) what you think about it and which one is better for an amateur? I know that philly is rather for experienced guys but it comes to me so naturally and easily that I am confused.
Hey coach! Question. Do you think an "iron gym" pull up bar is stable enough to hang the uppercut bag from in a doorway? Looking to work on my hands a little at home outside the gym but don't have the space in the apartment to hang from a beam.
1 thing that work for me (im no pro but i do box on the regular) was to get my hand back to my face as fast as possible. The repetition of step jab while trying to get my hand back in a defensive position gave my jab a fast snap.
Quick question. How do you snap your punches with such ease? I’ve been working on perfecting it but still can’t figure out the jab and straight right. If you help it would be much appreciate.💯
coach. i was recently in an out of ring conflict recently. a guy used my long hair to his advantage and i had skme difficulty beforing ending the fight. ik its an odd question but any advice?

Yet more evidence my trainer dropped the ball. I had to figure what you're showing here, out on my own. Using it to practice uppercuts and hooks but NOTHING on the defensive or footwork side ever even mentioned :/ No big deal and I'm not mad at them, but I'm going forward with tremendous caution about trainers from this point forward. If you could do a video about HOW to find a good boxing coach or how to know if you're with the wrong one, that would be great for A LOT of newbies. I think INEXPERIENCED trainers tend to be the most demanding of respect and yeah, no honey, no. 😂😂
Realest boxing coach out there! keep the videos coming and spread that knowledge. thank you coach

I appreciate this. There's a boxing section in my gym and I never used it in fear of looking stupid but I'll try this out. Thanks!
That's nice. I really prefer the Double-end bag & the uppercut bag
I use the uppercut bag everyday. Great Job Coach!
I just bought one and im loving it prolly more than i should

Great video Coach I just got one of these to add to my home gym!
Beautiful... Just ordered mine today from amazon. I'm sure I'll come back to this video for review 😁
Looking forward to buy one of this. I got burn out using the traditional heavy bag.
Very useful! Thanks
This bag and the black and blue one behind it are my favorites to work on in the gym, then the maze bag
I'm curious why didn't you turn pro. You got those hands

Maybe he doesn’t have the cardio 😂✌🏽
There’s a lot more to going pro than having hands
Watched this video and immediately went to Amazon and ordered one. Great videos, Coach!!
Coach, keep doing what you do. Keep 🥊. Good and informative.

Best Coach ever. THX for the vid
I always wonder what was the biggest difference between the "wrecking ball" aka Uppercut bag. I guess its the weight!
I don’t see boxers using BOB
(Body opponent).
Why?
Good for uppercut & hook.
Love ya coach A
I really like that rack you hung this on. Where did you get it. I'm looking for a bag. I like that wrecking ball... Thanks great video

Is it possible to see the footwork for this bag please 👍🥊
Hey coach! Question. Do you think an "iron gym" pull up bar is stable enough to hang the uppercut bag from in a doorway?

Coach, this is also a wrecking ball bag, correct? What size?
The rack that all of the bags are hanging from, where can i get one of those?
You always have that nice pop off your punches. Technique, gloves, bag or all three?
Can you recommend a stand that will hold that big that allows you lots of movement? Thanks.

My gym has the uppercut bag too low. People are always uppercutting themselves frequently.
Yeah this bag has to be at head level so u can practice headshots
Awesome
Put electrical tape around the chain not to tight . Just enough to get rid of all the chain noise.
Smooth

Sacate la gorra!

No body shots
You can rnd kick through and shoot under turn to face also.
Its a head hunter bag. The bigger ones for the body.
