Johnny Logan performed live for a outdoor, live, singalong TV program in Halden, a border town between Norway and Sweden. He sang "You Raise Me Up", the Secret Garden hit song, composed by Rolf Løvland and with lyrics by Brendan Graham, and many in the audience had tears in their eyes..

This song was written for Johnny Logan. The composer is a Norwegian Eurovision winner and it was supposed to be a Eurovision song. However, dear Johnny found the song so nice that he found it too good for Eurovision, and as you know, when it comes to music, Eurovision is not what you want to be famous for, so they let an Irish boy band sing it first. Today it is one of the most played songs in the world, but NOBODY sings it like Johnny Logan - it IS his song.

This song has already been covered by many singers but I still could not find one that I like until I found this video.
The thing is; this isn't actually a cover, like so many others. Johnny Logan was supposed to sing the original version of this song, but he turned it down at the time. So I guess you can say that this is really a pre-original version. ;) At least that is what he said himself at a concert in Denmark on december 6th, 2014, which I was attending with my mother.

Well then, in that case, Johnny Logan lied to an entire audience. Though I'm not sure why he would do that, and according to him, what he said isn't widely known. And about the irishman thing. sure Johnny wasn't born in Ireland, but both his parents are irish, and they moved back to Ireland when he was three years old, so he's irish enough.

This is the first version of 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘙𝘢𝘪𝘴𝘦 𝘔𝘦 𝘜𝘱 to bring tears to my eyes. Other versions, while powerful in both voice and music, don't exude the same passion Johnny does. Thanks to a tidbit of trivia someone posted in a comment on a Secret Garden version of this song, I discovered that Johnny is indeed the original artist who recorded 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘙𝘢𝘪𝘴𝘦 𝘔𝘦 𝘜𝘱, but was removed from the project because the music label refused to publish the song if he was singing it. I understand there is more history behind the song itself with questions as to who originally composed the music, but as far as artists singing/recording the song, 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻𝗻𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻! I think this is the version I'm going to send my mum off with. Cheers, Johnny. ❤
