Did not expect this on the first afternoon hunt! Holy cow... Kansas is a state that allows the use of hunting over bait. Where we were at this was a strategy to try and get the deer into your set up. There is no shortage of food in Kansas for the deer. Every dirt road you drive down is littered with standing corn, soy beans, milo not to mention the natural brows they can eat. Food is everywhere. It seems sitting over a corn pile isn't much different that sitting over a planted food plot or potentially a mineral lick if you hunt out west. Simply another way to try and get a mature animal into your zone during shooting hours. We try and keep an open mind out trying our new strategies to hunt and we hope you do as well. Due to some fall rain there was standing corn everywhere still which evidently impacts how the deer travel in this zone which potentially can make it more difficult for mature bucks to be seen during the daylight hours. Can't wait to share the this one with you and the entire time we're in Kansas. We've got a lot to learn about whitetail hunting...looking forward to the experience.
We can't use bait in Missouri where i live so my experience might be a little different since we have to rely on getting between their bedding and feeding zones then setting up on their main travel corridors to catch bucks cruising for does. Whitetails tend to have a schedule and bucks have zones they patrol so its a matter of using cameras in the months prior to be in the right place at the right time by finding out their schedule. but the rut does make then change their schedule some. To answer your questions: 1. I would not count on a deer dropping so just aim for the heart and let it fly. If it does duck you will probably hit it above the heart or spine it. Either way it will die pretty fast. 2. As for pissing outside its more of a deterrent for does then bucks. The does are real twitchy and will split if they wind you but the bucks in rut usually are only thinking with their dicks so they wont run if they are on a doe at the time and smell you (probably). But still not a great idea. If there are no does or less of them then your buck chances goes way down. But maybe the whitetail here in eastern Missouri are different then those people that say it doesn't matter at all. i don't know.

What a way to start! Congrats E, that thing is a monster. Not allowed to use bait in Nebraska anymore but it was helpful when we could. Casey , you need a "P Jug" you can't get in and out of a blind or down from your tree every time all that Mountain Ops runs out of you. Whitetail are crazy Can't wait to see what's next.
In my opinion, if you split the vitals horizontally into thirds and aim for the bottom third, you will always have a lethal shot regardless if they duck or not. Btw, it made me feel really good about being a Whitetail hunter when you guys mentioned that y’all have an appreciation for us sitting in a stand all day. Being big game hunters and all, I look up to you and watching you guys do all this big game hunting, it makes Whitetails look easy.

New, fancy, acrylic replaceable blades are great, but taking out an old skool straight blade pig sticker off your GrandPas is a nostalgic tribute to the men (or women) that you remember fondly... Aim middle lung like Eric, B mac. I've had whitetail jump the string .I've had them duck the string . I've found it best just to shoot when they are the calmest. I'm just glad to see Eric get so jacked up after the shot! Next year will be my first to hunt elk , I appreciate all the help you guys give on different tactics on different game . Welcome Eric to the world of whitetail hunting. That feeling can not be explained. I've seen grown men cry. Yup... Stealth is the key to whitetails, but when you shoot and recover a buck like that... Feel free to do whatever you want! LOL!! Congrats!! 😃 As far as compensation goes, you got to be familiar with the body language. I had a deer completely jump my string at 27 yards. It's belly hit the ground and it sprung up. I now know how to read them. But generally, i shoot lower 1/3 of body. Then it's either a heart or lung hit if it dips. I never pee on stand. But I'm a scent control freak. One day I was about 100 yards from my stand and peed. Got to my stand and watched a buck just turn itself inside out as soon as it hit that spot. Different locations, different deer... They're all different. I know people who do. I believe the less scent the better after that experience.

I'm from south central Pennsylvania and I'll be honest getting into watching elk and mule deer hunts was tough for me but I absolutely love you guys channel. Love the whitetail hunts too. Hope to see more of them in the future but definitely keep the elk and mule deer coming too!
The whitetail hunts are very different for us but so much fun. Most new things are fun...particularly when you've not done much of it before. Grass is always greener kind of thing. We look forward to doing more whitetail hunting for sure.

I saw just the deer at first on the thumb nail and saw all the kickers and mass and just a deer with all types of character and just thought that had Eric’s deer written all over it😂😂 my archery dream whitetail right now is honestly just a doe but I haven’t had a chance yet and In NC the season just went out Tuesday so I have to wait till next year

Dig the whitetail stuff in the Midwest. Pee outside the blind, it’s totally fine. Great deer! A tad over exposed during the recovery, but you’ll have that with all the headlamps
Just depends on what yardage their at . 20 yards no . 35 yards and their attention is in my area absolutely. 40 yards almost always . They hear a bow and their are ducking ! You guys are awesome . An elk hunt is a dream of mine so I’m using your guy’s channel to learn what I can for when I make that dream come true . I’ve got an Oklahoma stud whitetail with yalls name on it !

I saw just the deer at first on the thumb nail and saw all the kickers and mass and just a deer with all types of character and just thought that had Eric’s deer written all over it😂😂 my archery dream whitetail right now is honestly just a doe but I haven’t had a chance yet and In NC the season just went out Tuesday so I have to wait till next year

Dig the whitetail stuff in the Midwest. Pee outside the blind, it’s totally fine. Great deer! A tad over exposed during the recovery, but you’ll have that with all the headlamps

Just depends on what yardage their at . 20 yards no . 35 yards and their attention is in my area absolutely. 40 yards almost always . They hear a bow and their are ducking ! You guys are awesome . An elk hunt is a dream of mine so I’m using your guy’s channel to learn what I can for when I make that dream come true . I’ve got an Oklahoma stud whitetail with yalls name on it !
