The United States Army 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne), also known as Night Stalkers, is a special operations force of the United States Army that provides helicopter aviation support for general purpose forces and special operations forces. Its missions have included attack, assault, and reconnaissance, and are usually conducted at night, at high speeds, low altitudes, and on short notice. The 160th SOAR is headquartered at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

Paul Howe (former Delta guy) talks about the 160th saying, that you had to have a different mind set when you requested fire support or extract from them vs the regular army pilots. He said that generally, with conventional pilots they would waive off if the fire was "too intense," for them. In contrast, the 160th guys would literally get themselves killed coming to get you. Howe explained that their attitude shifted to one of "should I risk these guys' lives for our wounded?" instead of "can we get them to come in?"
That's an amazing complement to their bravery.

@@shamwow9889 It's in his book, Leadership and Training for the FIght.

My dad was one of the original Night Stalkers as a pilot in the early 80s. I will forever have respect for this regiment.

As a TF 158 plank owner I probably knew him :)

Without a doubt, the 160th are legitimately the best rotary winged pilots in the world by a mile. My utmost respect to these pilots for what they do.

What about flight concepts.. or is it too secret to even compare to just like delta force
Andrew Le a lot of them are the 160th. Flight Concepts Division has actually been seen as a department inside the 160th. But either way they are the same

Holly shit thats bad ass dude!
This makes me very proud to have been assigned to the 160 SOAG. I worked on the airfield and saw a lot, but especially when Delta came and boarded the Lil Bird, I knew someone was in trouble. A night stalker for life.

Don't let anybody tell you otherwise: these guys (I've met them) are the real deal. Cool, calm, professionals in the best sense of the word. They are the best.
Nightstalkers don't quit death waits in the dark six guns don't miss
I miss Surviving The Cut, because of that show I was introduced to what Night Stalkere are and as a result was able to witness this amazing video
I didn't know who they were before I saw that show

Every surviving the cut is on youtube. Upmost respect to Rangers, PJs, Nightstalkers, Sappers, etc. Badass people for sure. I want to become a PJ after I get a degree in premed. Then go through med school after a few years of being a PJ to become and Orthopaedic surgeron/ Sports Medicine physician. It's far fetched but ima try

Absolute badasses. MHS never fail to put out a great vid. Been subbed to this channel since 2015 (my freshman year). Now I am a senior and proud to say that I enlisted into the Army.
Congrats I’m leaving for fort Jackson in less than two weeks
KingZD1 good luck. I'm going to Ft. Benning for OSUT in July. Going as 11x with Option 4 for Airborne. Hopefully I can volunteer for RASP during OSUT or Airborne training.
David Frost u 2, ya I’m going in as 15U which is ch47 repairer wanna get to be crewchief and fly with the pilots eventually In the guard
Good luck to all of u who are serving & May God be with u all the time and protect u!
KingZD1 yea sadly there are no guarantee that you will be a crew chief if you join as 15U. I thought of becoming a crew chief before but decided to be a grunt instead. If I were you I would have joined the Air Force as Special Mission Aviation. Those guys are crew chiefs.
They are underated! Without them there is no boots on the ground. Nice video
They are not, they wanted to be that way so you don’t see them bad bois comming. Special ops guys know them. From rangers to seals and that’s what matter for them.
Thank you NightStalkers!!!!!
Past to present, some of the best guys I've ever met.
These guys are by far the best pilots ive ever worked with. These guys were picking us up one night. There was enough light out we could just see them. We marked our position with IR strobes and they banked hard and headed right for us. Now all of us were on a knee except for our LTJG. Hey LT., you might want to take a knee. Noooo I'm fine. Ok.... The blackhawk was coming pretty hot, we were getting ready haul ass. He banked again and sat it down right next to us. Needless to say there went the JG rolling out of our line up. I practically stood up, walked 2 steps and was inside the helo. Yes the JG caught alot of shit when we got back. Good times.
When I use to hear the sound of the blades buzzing above, I would always think to myself that we own the night. Big thanks to all the guys operating out of the green zone in 2006.
I know I'm late but Canada will Always stand with you!!!🇨🇦🇺🇸

During 2016, my buddies and I took a road trip from FL to CO. We were encountering a tropical storm over MO when my 6 hour driving shift had just started around midnight. I could tell my buddies were on edge when the low-visibility, heavy rain was hitting us on I-70. I put on Descent by Bongripper and told them about the 160th SOAR regiment and what they do. Everyone became a little more calm (or at least I did). Salute to these guys for this motivational, badassery.
160th SOAR: Because even Seals need a soccer mom to get them to and from the field....

Night stalkers deserve more respect for what they do
The problem is much of what they do is classified because they are part of Special Operations. They are probably best known because of the film Black Hawk Down. I don't think people would really know about them otherwise.
Night Stalkers don’t quit!
This is beyond awesome. Well done! Thanks to all that serve, especially those that go out in the night to extinguish evil. Bravo!
Outstanding, man! Great work.

Edward Morrow Thanks Man for your service and what years did u serve?? My dad was 91-01
@@jakehixenbaugh7578 90-01 to 91-07
My dad flew in the 160th from 82 to 92 until he retired. He Actually flew Noriegas money out when we invaded Panama and the bird next to him flew Noriega out. And desert storm where he lost his best friend Mike Anderson and received a DFC and a bronze and silver star for that tragic night. My dad also served 2 tours in Vietnam where he flew Hueys and received a DFC and bronze star his 2nd tour. I remember when the 160th was soag and not soar. I remember when the 1st finger lights were invented and 1st used in the unit. It was great growing up with a dad that was bad ass. He was my hero then and always will be. I graduated from Northwest '90.
@R L if you were there from 82 to 92 then you would know Bud Anschuetz, Co c, 1st battalion.
Saw an interview of an Army Ranger Trung Nguyen, he got emotional talking about how brave SOAR pilots are and told a story of one dropping them off at the edge of a roof, and later a "Haji" shot at them, and the bullet hit the pilot in the chest through the windshield - only at that point did they choose to fly back in order to get the pilot to medical care.
My son is a Night Stalker Pilot…always worried but proud ❤😢

The guys that tier 1 elements call when they need a badass ride to kick some ass
Great video! And music you choice is fits perfectly. Great work!
I used to watch these guys fly over my barracks in Cav country at Fort Campbell. I love the little birds. I worked on Kiowa Warriors
Cool
AIR CAV! i was 4/3d ACR at Bliss in the late 80's "do more with less" every Aviator should do at least 1 tour with a CAV unit, you learn to Soldier properly there!
You did it again. Awesome video. Love the music aswell
Once a Night Stalker, always one. In and out of the military. In war time or outside of war time. It is not just a motto, it is a way of life. Surrender is not in our blood. Never give up Is etched Into our soul. Night stalkers are not made. They are born. I will always and forever be a Night Stalker, because I was born to be. “For such a time as this.”

I've watched a presentation from a german soldier, who reported about his time in Afghanistan (2010-2011).
At that time the Bundeswehr had no transport helicopters, which means they were reliant to the us and their helicopters.
I'm just sain they (the americans) flew even through sandstorms to help the german soldiers out.
I'm just SAIN!

I want to put in a packet as well. I have a few hoops to jump through but im trying to do it. I would be fine with just being a maintainer. I want to do it.
Rebel Jones im colorblind so I have to do a non-rated position. Which I love being a medic anyways so it works out well
