This is an absolute blessing all the way around. Thank you Floret crew for helping us all. I cannot wait to see the "proof" that everyone sends in to you all of their labor. Amazing...keep up the great work and I cannot wait to get started. Sky truly is the limit, it is up to how far we can climb. Appreciate it all, love from the Midwest!
💚💚💚We ordered the complete Floret’s Collection and this first succession we had an 83% germination rate overall with planting 100 Dahlia seeds, 250 Zinnia seeds and 300 Celosia seeds! First time sowing in a greenhouse and we have almost 600 seedlings to start hardening off over the next few weeks in Zone 7b! 💚💚💚
I just got my seeds from you today. I am so excited to grow these beautiful treasures. Thank you
Thanks Erin, great refresher!
Thanks for touching on the hardening off process. I tried to kill my sweet little veggie plants with too much sun and heat. I got to excited with high 60’s in western WA for a couple of days. Need to slow my roll.😆
I am so happy that you did this Q & A!! I was sick and didn't start my seeds indoors, and thought I missed my chance. I was very sad about this. I love your knowledge, thank you for sharing it 😊, Audri
What a great video. Simple but well explained. Love it.
Wow!!! Such valuable info in one video!! Thanks Erin!!
Thank you for all the information.
This is very helpful. Thank you
I always had problems with Poppies. I'm in a 4b so it does get pretty cold. The last few years I've been wintersowing them in milk jugs and it works great. I have probably 30 Iceland poppies germinated in one container right now. I just have to carefully separate them. It's a no fail way for home gardeners.
I did three last year, six this year and I’m going to do at least 25 next year. Way easier and less care.
So helpful thank you. 💕
"Don't kill em with kindness!" Sadly, I've done that in the past - too much water. Learned my lesson :) Many thanks for all the wonderful videos! Inspiring, encouraging and so informative!! Sending 💗~~~ to the farm from here in Michigan - where things are finally waking up!! 🌱
Thank you!
I just started my dahlias (Bee's Choice and Petite Florets) and Zinnias (Alpen Glow and Precious Metals) yesterday. *SO EXCITED* 😂
Awesome!!
Thanks a lot for all the info!! Love your work❤!! I want to know how you manage to protect them, once they are out at the field, from pests. Could you give some basics ? (Sorry for my english)
Do sugar ants eat seedling leaves? Something in my greenhouse is, I sprayed with organic pyrethian(spelling?) and put out cotton balls with cinnamon oil on them. Lol any ideas? Always a pleasure to watch your videos 😊
Thanks so much for this. Question about watering….what do you think about trays with water wicking mats?
When I bump them up to a larger pot, do I use container soil or seed starter soil?
Thank you for the great video! I’m just wondering if I can still plant my leggy seedlings? I think I saw somewhere that you could plant them so that a lot of the leggy stem is in the soil? Is that true? Or how would you plant them?
I haven’t figured out how to use my greenhouse for seed starting-
either too hot or too cold.
Thank you ,just wondering when you pot up your seedlings do switch to potting soil rather than the seed starting soil ?
When we bump them up, we still use seed starting mix.
@@TeamFloret Great point, I was wondering the same thing.
I am having trouble growing bacopa and angelonia inside. They came pelleted and some pellets seem to have more than one seed in them. Is that possible? And any suggestions on the seeds? Did they need to be statified?
Please advise what to do about Earwigs !! I think we might have a surplus in my garden!
We haven't had a problem with earwigs bothering our plants. If you can see that they're harming your plants, it might be good to ask your local garden center for an organic product that would help!
What if you only have a window to grow with, the laggy stem, will it still grow a nice plant once planted in my raised garden.
I tried growing Delphinium with the winter sowing method twice but no success! Any tips or tricks you can share for growing delphinium from seeds? Thanks!
Do you use the same fertilize for all your plants
Thank you for the video! I was surprised that you still have to harden off the plants even from the propagation house. Could you explain more about this? I would have thought the greenhouse has enough light that seedlings are ready in that sense. Do you use fans for circulation in the propagation house? The constant shifting of the seeds indoors and out is a process I'm trying to avoid/minimize when growing on a large scale.
It’s not just light. Wind outside is much stronger than anything a greenhouse fan can produce, and the plastic does diffuse the light a bit. The greenhouse also should create shelter from the lowest of overnight temperatures as well.
@@NicolesGardenNS that makes a lot of sense, thank you for the information! So even on a large scale operation, it's necessary to carry trays in and out to get them ready- very good to know! I was going to build out a propagation house over the summer to avoid this next season 😅
Hi, can you please talk about the pests that can effect zinnia, dahlia and celosia and how you treat them at floret, i have been suffering with tunnel makers, thrips and something that's eating the leaves!!
Pests are a tricky one, since every area experiences its own issues. I'd check with your local garden center and see if they have advice!
What size trays are you using for sweet peas? Thanks so much!
We use pots that are 3½ in (9 cm) wide and deep.
@@TeamFloret thank you!
All of my zinnias and some dahlias are drying out super fast.. should they be off the heating Matt already?
They should only be around 70 degrees, so if it's warmer than that, taking them off the heat mats might be a good idea.
My geraniums got to a certain size, then just stopped growing ! 🤔 Not a size that they were too big for the cell, they were well within the cells perimeter , just stopped growing . And they’ve been that size for awhile, what am I doing wrong ?🧐 Thank you for your time !❤️
They might need more space. Bumping them up or planting them out (if it's warm enough) might help!
On my Snapdragons, oh no, I think I cut back to true leaves. Darn will the be OK? I think I should have waited for another set of leaves.
I'd wait and see if they grow more leaves. They might recover just fine!
fertilizing seedlings?
I like using Neptune's harvest which can be diluted into the water when you are watering! It can be smelly though
Do the Rolly Polly bugs harm seedlings or plants?
We haven't noticed that they are a problem.
