Rod Stewart is so relaxed and confident! I love all the songwriting details too!
Rod is a good interview. He listens, is courteous and respectfull and answers the questions honestly.
His memoir is great. Honest, politely told. Great read; you feel like you know him, not just what he wanted you to know.
👍
The Faces were the best “ blood n guts “ rock n roll band ever …..Rods vocals were so raw ……saw them in 73 , what a night.
Rod is the man!!!!!! He looks great!!!!! His music is just wonderful, love him.... ❤️❤️❤️🎶🎶🎶.....
"It only lasted 3 seconds, but left a 'large stain' the rest of my life."
Then he musingly looks at the camera & smiles.
Smooth, Rod. 😂⚡🔥
Speaking about the 60s & 70s like it was yesterday.
You & Dan are both legends.
Thanks for all the years, gentlemen.
He has aged like fine wine. ❤
no...like a good bottle of wine that has gone off
What a great story about Maggie May! I loved that song. I had the album and listened to it over and over!
Maggie May is one of my favorite Rod Stewart songs! I still enjoy it now too
@Roderick_David_Stewart Ronnie Lane was supposed to have contributed some help on that song.
He was one of my favorites, and the world seems to miss his contributions....
What a great song! It always brings back great memories for me.
Maggie May was the first song ( of my choosing) that I ever played on a jukebox. 1971 at Century Lanes bowling alley in Hampton Va. I was 9 and it was 5 songs for a quarter. Next thing I know, here I am
I fell in love with Rod because of Maggie Mae and i still love him!!
Maggie Mae brings back my feeling of falling in love with my husband 53 years ago. Just heard it the other day on the radio in the car ❤
Same for me, on our wedding night 53 years ago, as we were driving to the hotel after our wedding reception, we needed to fill the gas tank and my husband was pumping the gas it was pouring out, as I watched my groom in the rain in his tux and Maggie May was playing on the car radio it always has a place in my heart Maggie May, till this day when I hear it, I remember that night and that wonderful feeling
Forever Young Sir Rod Stewart! So Talented! Love You Sir Rod Stewart!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
He's simply the greatest .Love Sir Rod 💙
I have always and will forever love you Sir Rod❤❤❤❤
I love this...two older guys still kickin' it in their fields doing a great interview, even for stories that have been told before. It's so good.🎉
Except, one of these guys fabricated a story and created a lie to alter the outcome of a presidential election, for which he was fired.
Dan Rather is a despicable human being.
Dan Rather, ever the professional, always brings out the best in people!
Rod is wonderful in concert. A true showman. Sounds great in person. Hot Legs is still in my mind. Love him!
Whoo hoo !!! ❤❤❤ love this awesome Guy!!!
Thank you Dan and Rod🎉.
@Roderick_David_StewartThanks so much for the great music!
Maggie Mae is still my favorite Rod Stewart song. I named my dog and car after this song back in the 70’s!! I got to see Rod in concert twice! Incredible shows! Love to you Rod!
LOL when he said "we all looked like Dusty Springfield" was too funny
Love these Dan Rather interviews, these artists really open up with him.
Sir Rod, I've been a fan since day one ( I was 9). Though I love your classics, I do enjoy Soul Train, the cd with the London Philharmonic, and most especially the American Classics. Many thanks for your wonderful concerts as well...
I saw Stewart in concert when Jeff Beck reunited after 15 years. 3 hour concert that was hit after hit. He played them all. It was the Forever Young tour.
Amazing story about your show in Brazil, about 1993/1994 !! You’re really a wonderful person 🤗 Maria
thankyou 🙏
thankyou 🙏
I think Rod's got something to say to us.
Sir Rod you have a very sympathetic appearance! i think you’re really a wonderful person! So calm & friendly! I adore you!❤️ Maria
thankyou 🤗
thankyou Sir Rod🙏
thankyou
Even the stones made a disco album around the same time,Grateful Dead too, just sayin👊
@dogfase515 Very true! McCartney recorded Goodnight Tonight, Elton recorded a couple of disco tinged tunes as well. It was a trend. Do Ya Think I’m Sexy is a well written song. I remember reading a Playboy interview with Randy Newman where the interviewer asked him who he liked as songwriters. He said that he thought Rod was really under appreciated as a songwriter. He said he admired Rod’s ability to tell a full story, beginning middle and end, in a short time frame!
They all did and most of the tunes are killer.
Queen did too
@@GeoffreyGibson-yh3cv Well noted!!!
And Pink Floyd's "The Wall" incorporated a disco beat. You can include an influence without selling out.
friend of mine who is a doorman met him ,he was rude and a bully when he was not let in ahead of others
I love him.
I was a little kid when Maggie may came out but I had older sister who loved him so I always remember Maggie may
Great interview/ conversation🇦🇺🦘🐨
The question still remains: didn't Ray Jackson also play mandolin on "Mandolin Wind"?
"...it was played by the mandolin player in Lindisfarne..."
Three minutes in and still waiting to hear them talk about Maggie May....
That’s 3 minutes of your life flushed down the toilet! 🤣
right? @@markwalker112
Great name.
Rod is a class act.
the resemblance to Richard Hammond is striking !
Who is that? Whoever it is, he looks like Rod, not vice versa.
I love his hair too
My name is Maggie. For several years after this song came out, whenever I told someone my name, they blurted out “oh, Maggie May!”
Thats my name ❤
Rod the bod!
I never cared for "Do you think I'm Sexy" but I'm still a fan of Hot Rod!
GREAT JOB ALL...THANX 4 MAKING Tee with LIONS NAMED LEO the music worldwide.
LOVE YOU ALL...!!!....MUCH LOVE.!!
Maggie May and Every Picture tells a story number 1 UK and USA single and album
Of course, Rod Stewart is a milestone in music. Never been my favorite singer, and I always thought he looked dorky on stage. However, I think he seems like a great guy based on this video.
I named my car Maggie. Now when I press the automatic start, I can say, “Wake up Maggie.” Ha ha
I love Rod and his songs, but he could have said the name of the song and the singer : "Da ya think I´m sexy" is "Taj Mahal", by Jorge Benjor.
He didn't mention that Bobby Womack's "If You Want My Love, Put Something Down on It" was another 'inspiration' for "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy".
So central to early Jeff Beck (Truth)-Faces were great- I was around for all of it- but I prefer Maggie May by The Pogues.
That song do you think I sexy was fun great song 😊I loved it and young hearts or young Turks song too
Yeah - it's a great song of Rod & the Faces!
But don't forget MARTIN QUITTENTON, the COMPOSER of this fantastic music!
He was a gifted songwriter and guitar player. Rod made the lyrics, Martin the music!
The Rolling Stones album Some Girls is a disco record. He wasn't the only "sell out"...
Hell, even KISS jumped onto the bandwagon with their hit "I was made for loving you" back in the day and Gene Simmons admitted to ripping off the tempo to a Donna Summers tune!
@@nayooropeza2211 it ended up their biggest hit. Gene HATES the song...loves the money no doubt...
I don't see why it's "selling out" to sing a song that reflects the culture and taste of the audience at the time that the artist is performing it. "Do ya think I'm Sexy" was a fun song, and to see Rod shake his little tushy at the audience when he sang it in concert was great fun too. Lighten up, everyone.
@@likespurple2261 because disco sucked to it's very core.
What a pity that the subject matter of Maggie May only gets a cursory mention right at the end of the interview in this video . Rod Stewarts’ best work was at the beginning of his career , not the Do You Think I’m Sexy phase . I’d like to know his motivation for Maggie May & You Wear It Well , In a Broken Dream ( Python Lee Jackson ) & his life generally in detail , when he was hungry & strapped for cash , his journey with The Faces , his expectations at that time . He was utterly brilliant , so dig deep & find the soul of this artist at his origin . Not some fluff stuff that skates around the periphery !!
Wake up Maggie I think I got something to say to you lol ❤😊
Rod, you’re the man BUT you could have thrown Carmine Appice a bone on ‘Do Ya think….’ He has a writing credit on it with you as well. Just saying…..
Rod the Knob
Maggie May? He didn't speak about it until 4:44 and no mention of, as Rod called him 'the bloke from Lindisfarne who played the mandolin. ' Without that no big hit
Dan Rather is still alive. He's 92.
Rolling Sones did "Miss You" Eagles did "One of these nights". Those are essentially disco...what anybody likes or dislikes is purely subjective. As for Rolling Stone.....never mind...
Cut across shorty! Cut across
He should have mentioned that Queen had the first enormous concert in Brazil -Rock in Rio. Rod and Freddie were friends- which has nothing to do with the story - just an interesting aside.
Why? It’s irrelevant to the interview.
Dan Rather hasn't a clue who Rod Stewart is, he just asks a list of questions.
Not true. Everyone knows who he is and Dan was probably a fan back in the day.
indeed...just a patronising arse licker
It seems a bit awkward with Dan Rather addressing these subjects, but humorous though.
Abba & the bee gees were big so why not hop on the band wagon, but his sailing was a better direction
Ask how they screwed the mandolin player on maggie may…
That woman needs to be found
Kiss sells out, the Rolling Stones cash in. There's a big difference.
Rod is like 90 and Maggie May died 25 years ago
Never ever gives a credit to the co-composer the late Martin Quittenton...!

Rods voice is always rock and roll to me. But that song is corny and he kinda sold out on that one honestly. Stick to your guns!!
Banned from watching his concert as I am un-jabbed.
But you were wise and that’s what counts.👏🏻
Go away. No one cares
