I met Bobby Farrell in Amsterdam. We were friends. Very kind hearted man. His international status did make arrogant . A very humble soul. He will be missed. May his soul rest in peace ✌ ✌ 🙏
@@biswashimendu India !!!!!! I heard there are many Rasputin type Monks stay there.... They even run the provincial Govts...... There is divine preacher just like F**k--Putin named "Asaram Bapu" and another divine powered monk like """Rus-Putin""" known as """Ram Rahim baba""" All the Indian Monks and gurus showed their divine bed habits ...... The Asharam Bapu (Guru) used to handle two or three girls per night at the age of 70+...... We should give him an award for at the age of 72+ he can handle three or even four young girls at a time but nobody appreciated his qualities but still Indian Police appreciated his deeds and sent him in a Govt Guest House which is commonly known as JAIL.......
Booby may not have contributed much vocally but he was absolutely crucial to the image of the group -making them unique in that way . He was their showman .
In the year 1976 I heard "BONEY-M" Orchestra group of 3 women & a man. All the songs were very tilting and amazing especially this DADDY COOL song impressed me a lot! Since then I use to buy all the Audio Cassettes every month out of my earnings (to hear thru my NATIONAL PANASONIC RX 5050 model CASSETTE TAPE RECORDER JAPAN MAKE SET WITH AMBIENCE SOUND SPEAKER). Now I'm 70 years old, but yet I use to enjoy all the BONEY-M singers crew's songs to enjoy my old age period as I was enjoying when I was a youth of only 19-20 years old! SO, MY CONCLUSION IS OLD IS ALWAYS GOLD. Especially BONEY M, AFTER THE "ABBA" orchestra consisting 2 men and 2 women group.... THANK YOU SO MUCH. I AM from Mysore city, KARNATAKA STATE, INDIA. MY MOTHER TONGUE IS KANNADA LANGUAGE. amogha, adhbuta, apoorva, ananya, aprathima, ascharya, apyayamana, achandrarka ajaramara, dhanyavada, namasakara.
My favorites are Ma Baker and Rasputin. My parents had a dance club in the 70th and as a child, my room was just above the dance floor. I could hear the base through the floor. The DJ knew when it was bed time for me and he played the songs I enjoyed most :) I still enjoy watching Bobby Farrell dancing. It is just great.
I still have all their LPs, and listen to the Rivers of Babylon and Gotta Go Home fairly regularly. We also play their Christmas classic at Christmas time every year. Well, I am 70, so what else would you expect?😀
I remember most of their hits, from being very young, which were in the UK charts. Boney M are memorable, even if you loved them or hated them. I still play their songs😀
Hey, I am curious as to why, on the thumbnail picture “Then and Now” of Boney M, do you have an oversized lady in swimwear??? It doesn’t seem to have any relevance to the video of one of my favourite groups way back when! 🙏🙏🙏
Rasputin was always my favorite. Remember that me and my niece performed Rivers of Babylon for my grandmothers 60th birtday in the late 70s (i was 7ish). Also remember a comercial with Bobby on Dutch television in wich he was performing in a retirement home with a less than enthousiastic public.
Wow. I absolutely loved their music when growing up. I think the biggest shocked to me was that the guys wasn't singing. I have 4 of their CD's right now and I play them quite often. After all these years I still love their music 💗
Give my song a look Alan. I am a huge Bony M fan, and used their 'Rasputin' for a parody anthem in support of Ukraine. It's called 'Vlad Putin' : ua-cam.com/video/OhigxbgNqSk/v-deo.html
I was a fan of Boney M in the 70's and early 80's. My Favourite track back then was "Sunny", "Rivers Of Babylon" and "Ma Baker". The latter two are still my favourite tracks by Boney M. Nowadays I also love "Nightflight To Venus" because of the drums (which Farian stole from Cozy Powell, but that is another story).
Frank Farian exploited Black people. He was a corrupt con man and in another time he would have been called a Slave Master, like many people in the Music Industry. Michael Jackson ran a campaign against Tommy Mottola of Sony Inc. about how he exploitted Black people.
I never heard of them until I started playing Song Pop. Of course I was born in 1970, but I know 1950’s, 1960’s and early 1970’s. Thanks to my Mom I know lots of music.
Thanks for doing this video. Most people in the United States probably don't know anything about who Boney M was. I was in the US military and stationed in Germany from 1975-1979 or I probably wouldn't know of them either.
also my granddaughter's favourite Christmas song for the past 2 years. In the car, from October to February the following year, she always asks to have the song on the CD player, on 'repeat mode', so she can sing along, now she is 5, old enough to know the lyrics by heart.
В России до сих пор очень много поклонников Boney'M. И в других бывших республиках СССР аналогичная ситуация. Boney'M это целая эпоха, это новая революционная танцевальная музыка, это заряд радости и вообще передовая диско-команда своего времени.
I love their remake of Bobby Herb's song "SUNNY". It was played in a commercial here in South Florida for Israeli Tourism. I couldnt get it out of my head for weeks.
Still play their stuff. Played at the Russian Olympics Ra Ra Rasputian. Great stuff. Unfortunately we all get old and ill, so the unkind comment section is pretty mean.
I moved to the United States in 1974 not speaking a word of English I just remember playing the hell out of the 45 daddy cool then discovered other hits still a cool band with a cool sound.
I have never heard of this group before or known of its music. Thank you for introducing me to another musical group. May the members of the group continue to thrive in every way.
Boney M would usually be mentioned together with ABBA. They had disco songs that will never go away. It's amazing only one member of the group has sadly passed on. Their version of jingle bells still rings out every Christmas..Much love from Kenya
I saw Boney M at the Palais Theatre in Melbourne about 3 years ago .. & they are performing there again in February 2023 .. I sat side of stage & OMG Can Maizee sing??!!!! .. Goosebumps!! .. Heaven🙏🏽❤️
You know why Rasputin had such a comeback? Because director Brad Michael Elmore use it in his movie Bit in such an awesome way and then multiple creators started remembering how great the song was.
American market of music it is and it was more at that time impermeable. Unless it was a really big name like Beatles, Stones and a few similar it couldn't get to US music market. There are groups, singers especially British famous all the world but unknown in the US. Same for many American artists incredibly famous in Europe and rest of the world but minors or unknown in America.
My dad was grate fan of Bonny M we used to listen together simply i loved Bonny M so much too. still remember we use cassette player those days to listen.
I started listening to them in the '90s out of curiosity about their name and it turned out that it was the only foreign music that my mum had ever liked back in her day. African Moon is probably my favourite BoneyM song these days, Ribbons of Blue and MaBaker come next... I'm a big fan myself though I'd hate to admit it!
to try and pick a favourite song by boney m would be impossible they were great and had natural talent you dont see today i loved them as a kid and still do
l love Boney M it was a big hit in the 70s for me in Australia. My favourite songs were all of them they brought back go memories and l still listen to their music. ( GOD BLESS THEM ALL 🙏)
Ma Baker is #1 and Rasputin #2 I do wish to know who was the Puerto Rican looking 'girl-singer' with two other in 'supporting choir' - not the three original female members?! She was the first to the camera at the 'Sopot Festival' (1979). Anyone knows who she was? She had a black 'glittery' top and white long skirt. I would like to know what is she doing now days; is she still singing???
Sunny, Daddy Cool, Baby do you wanna bump, Take the heat off me....too many to list ...they were amazing performers ..they gave their heart and soul 💜 🎶
Bobby lived in Lelystad (still my hometown btw)for a while, he had a white vw beatle that he allowed to be gravitied everybody knew that car. Ma baker was the 1st song I heard when on summer holiday in Sauerland Germany, I bought the LP right there and then.
Nightflight to Venus is my favourite song! Its that song that altimately got me into drumming! Id have my mom and dad play it as much as possible and I would air drum to it.
I particularly remember their song Belfast being played alot in a Cardiff docks disco-dive . The place was so decrepit that the wooden-planks on the floor used to jump up when we used to dance to it ! Happy , long-gone days !

That's for sure, dude had crazy dance moves nearly rivaling an epileptic seizure.
*booby* lol it’s Bobby lmao
It wouldn’t have been Boney M without Bobby. Why do people want to rewrite history? In the words of a famous singer/song writer, “Let It Be”.
why was there so much lip synching going on with Boney M?I didn't realise it atthe time

Ye. Unsubscribe. Clickbait really upsets me!! 😤
It just plain click bait.
Yes was wondering the same thing. False advertising. Scandalous
Hard to pick one but Rivers of Babylon is a favourite of mine. Its just a classic song
Excellent band...memories when I was crazy to listen their songs over and over again.

My favorite of theirs is a toss-up between "By the Rivers of Babylon" and "Mary's Boy Child."
Great stuff, still listening to their music even now,40 years plus ➕ after I first heard them. These songs 🎵 will stay with me until the day I die....
Give my song a look Alan. I am a huge Bony M fan, and used their 'Rasputin' for a parody anthem in support of Ukraine. It's called 'Vlad Putin' : ua-cam.com/video/OhigxbgNqSk/v-deo.html
Those were the best times of my life! Boney M was very popular in Russia. My favorite song is " SUNNY "! ❤👏

Not really "innocent" people were brainwashed into thinking they were "innocent"
💯💯💯
Rivers of Babylon went a massive 12 weeks at no.1 in South Africa when I was a teenager 🎧
I was 8 years old, had a cassette tape. there is no day without the music of Boney M. Favorite cassette

I have always loved Boney M & especially, the gorgeous Liz Mitchell.
Nobody could dance like Bobby Ferrall.

Another vote for 'Mary's Boy Child' here.
