to be fair Carrol's slugging percentage is massively influenced by his ability to leg doubles and triples where bigger/slower guys get stuck to singles. the fact that he can do that and still pace 30+ hrs is kind of amazing.
Shout out to Prince Fielder who may have been the fastest big guy ever. 4.78 seconds home to 1st at 275lbs (Corbin Carroll is 4.07 home to 1st at 165 lbs)
There's also Elly De La Cruz taking baseball by storm right now, while Eury Perez is silently putting up GOAT-like numbers. Elly is barely at drinking age, and Eury isn't even. Yeah, the future is now in baseball.
this dude is just a mets fan and needs something to distract him from the fact that they’re the laughing stock of baseball. talking about alvarez over elly is blasphemous, at least mention both if you wanna be a homer
As a D-backs fan, I spend 50% of my time loving watching Carroll overperform and clearly enjoy himself, and 50% of my time wondering how the D-backs are going to muck this up.
Thanks SRS! Can y'all do a vid of how good the Rangers are, how the Angels are NOT wasting Trout and Ohtani this year or maybe how the Orioles are stunning the AL East? Thanks guys!
The NL right now is LOADED with incredible rookies. Carroll, Alvarez, Elly, Eury Perez, Jordan Walker is on a 14 game hit streak, Luis Matos is playing pretty well to start his career, AJ Smith-Shawver of the Braves has been really good, and that's not to mention James Outman who was amazing in his first 35 games or so.
45 y/o here. Stopped watching baseball during the steroid era…. Started watching the game again this year and it is a lot of fun. Thanks a lot to you young guys channels I’m able to catch up in a great way. Keep it up!! Also - Pudge Rodriguez was my favorite all around catcher back in the day and also always in the conversation about best all time. Would love a comparison between the young Mets Phenom and him.
I quit watching when the Reds owner acted like us fans have no choice. I honestly haven't had a passion for the game except for 2004 Red Sox / Yankees series and I honestly don't know if I can get excited about the sport anymore. I have been a die hard Bengals fan and I have been so turned off by baseball team owners looking cheap while Bengals are finally getting in the mix and paying players to make sure they are on track to win
You didn't mention Zach Neto. He was drafted last year and is already in the big leagues and has proven he belongs there. We've all seen the clips of him making insane plays.
@tonyantonio2 why does everything nice we get break? Neto? injured. O'Hoppe? Injured. Oh Rendon is actually looking good and is doing better than normal, making his obscene contract be somewhat worth it? Injured!
I think we are in the peak of catchers right now. There are so many really good catchers right now like Logan O’Hoppe (from the small sample size) adley rutchman, Alvarez, Sean Murphy, Tyler Stephenson, Henry Davis, and a few more. There have been better catchers like buster posey and joe Maur are better than most of these guys but I don’t know if there ever been this many really good catchers at the same time. Correct me if I’m wrong though
I’m wondering if these young teams thriving earlier than expected this year has anything to do with the fact that the rookies have been playing with the new rules in the minors for the past couple of years, giving them an edge over the veterans who are adjusting still. Just a thought?
David Wright very quickly became my favorite Met when he came up. I got his jersey not too long into his career but it was still a little while after then that I realized that he was younger than me. Only by about a year and a half but it was very surreal and very frustrating.
Josh Jung also on a tear 2.0 WAR, on course for a 30+ homer season with an OPS + of 125..not bad for his first full season. he's not as young as the other two but damned if he ain't staking a claim for himself.
So many great young players emerging, its an exciting time...have to actually credit MLB for once for implementing the rules changes to speed up the games to get young people interested
3:00 usually I would agree with you but I feel like this is a little misleading saying he’s “clobbering the ball” when in reality he just is the best at stretching singles into doubles and doubles into triples. Like don’t get me wrong he is hitting the ball phenomenally but he also isn’t your stereotypical slugger that gets his bases through power, it’s mostly through speed
I knew the new rules would help young players out more but I didn’t expect to this level. All the best teams are full of youth. That’s why the Mets suck so bad and will the next couple years, old age
not taking anything away from Carrol but to say he possesses the same "power" as other hitters based solely on slugging is a bit disingenuous. Again, his speed more than his bat is getting the extra bases in question. nothing wrong with that, but it kind of illustrates an issue with the statistic of slugging as a metric of "power"
On the contrary, you’re a genius. I bet there’s more than one random person scrolling through SpongeBob meme videos that is going to click this video and inadvertently get sucked into the realm of baseball.
Corbin Carroll Francisco Alvarez James Outman Oswald Peraza Eury Perez Elly De La Cruz Luis Matos Jordan Walker Casey Schmitt Gunnar Henderson Lebron James Patrick Bailey
Fransisco's height is listed as 5'10" and depending on your source, you might even see him listed at 5"11" lmfao dude is like 5'6 1/2". I think he might be shorter than Altuvé
He isn’t even 5 10 let’s be honest he’s 5 8 maybe 5 9. What’s up with baseball players being listed taller than they are, it’s happening more and more and it’s getting ridiculous. Vlad jr listed at 6 2 and is visibly 3 inches shorter than his 6 3 dad when they stand next to each other. Alex Bergman listed 6 0 Jared kelenic at 6 1. It’s such a joke but you could make a video about it

@@nobeardthepirate9172Prince! A real bimble. Big and nimble😂
Doubles are doubles 🤷♂️
Nah. /
i mean hes also hit 15+ home runs. sure there’s a few singles he legs out for doubles, but he also hits the living shit out of baseballs
There's also Elly De La Cruz taking baseball by storm right now, while Eury Perez is silently putting up GOAT-like numbers. Elly is barely at drinking age, and Eury isn't even.
Yeah, the future is now in baseball.
Entirely forgot about Jordan Walker who has better projected numbers than Vlad in the year he finished second in the MVP race
De La Cruz is an alien
Elly getting a single off a line drive to first base has to be one of the craziest things I’ve seen in baseball in a long time
he also hit the cycle yesterday!

Yankees front office: "Josh Donaldson at-bats will continue until morale improves"

There not the same with risp as of lately lol
@@ryanbonaccorso1474 No, but they're still leading the West!
Baseball getting much better and funnier, baseball on the raise and can't wait for the future

2:32 fun fact goku is 5'10"
With all this young talent, the incredible WBC and this College World Series... 2023 is looking like one of baseball's best seasons ever
the best thing about baseball it the unexpected
Yeah, padres shut down in the ASG.
Except the Braves being awesome, we expected that.
Elly just hit for the cycle in his first month in the MLB
Francisco Alveraz is a 50 + HR guy and should be a 280 hitter. The kid is a monster
You didn't mention Zach Neto. He was drafted last year and is already in the big leagues and has proven he belongs there. We've all seen the clips of him making insane plays.
sucks he got injured... he's so great
@tonyantonio2 why does everything nice we get break? Neto? injured. O'Hoppe? Injured. Oh Rendon is actually looking good and is doing better than normal, making his obscene contract be somewhat worth it? Injured!
Urshela injured.
Let’s go Mets man it’s been a hard season to watch but I’m so happy for Álvarez
I’m not a D-Backs fan, but as long as Corbin Carroll wins ROTY, I’m happy.
Not really a Corbin Carroll fan but me too.
As a Mets fan, our rookies are the only reason I’m watching. Alvarez especially is gonna be special I think
Corbin scoring from 1st on routine ground ball up the middle today was straight up evil
Definitely need to mention Elly here. Dude is an absolute machine. All 3 of these guys are making baseball very excited to watch rn.

That’s actually a pretty good thought I think it may honestly
That is actually a great theory
Hey could you do a video of how fun the Texas rangers are this season

IK THE MUSIC ON ALAVAREZ SECTION AT THE START, IT DO BE THE BATMAN INTRO

First you doomed and cursed the Mets, now you’re going to curse the entire of MLB in vengeance? That’s cold….. I
thanks for mentioning Juan Soto positively!
The Reds are in first place. Enough said!
So many great young players emerging, its an exciting time...have to actually credit MLB for once for implementing the rules changes to speed up the games to get young people interested
That extension looks like the steal of the century if you ignore the peanuts Ohtani has been paid so far.

Adley vs Alvarez debates are gonna be awesome
what debate? it’s adley every single time
@@TheRealKizzle Rn obviously but I think Alvarez could be better then him in a couple years
That Corbin Carrol is a worker.. You can tell he works his ass off. They got a winner down in Arizona.
…Thanks to the power of science
Great video per usual
Wander Franco is just as young as any of these players.....and is established.
Oof, I just HAD to stumble across this comment now.
I wanted the sonic music

LA Noire reference sent me ahaha, good to know that game still has fans (me included)
Corbin Carroll doesn't need elite arm strength when he could cover literally the entire outfield by himself.
Seeing 25k people inside Great American Ballpark on a rainy weekday evening is nothing short of a miracle
Gunnar Henderson in the AL started off real slow but has been going ham in the past month
Should I get his jersey or adley
It’s the fact that they try , when you see them leg out an infield hit it makes you feel like they doing that they are getting paid for
Nice thumbnail, surely it won't flop
On the contrary, you’re a genius. I bet there’s more than one random person scrolling through SpongeBob meme videos that is going to click this video and inadvertently get sucked into the realm of baseball.
No mention of Zach Neto? Hes been ballin
What about Bryce Elder?
Alvarez looking like Johnny Bench
Love the batman music in the background hahaha
Corbin Carroll is a like a rich man’s Riley Greene.
Alvarez 😂
The lack of Joey Wiemer disgusts me.
Corbin Carroll fun fact: He went to the same high school as Bill Gates (not the same graduating class, of course).
O lord that kids gonna be sick
THATS THE 2004 BATMAN SONG
Carrol’s speed is giving me Ichiro vibes….
LETS GO #7 for ROTY!!!
