  • The Way We Live is a short film that was presented at the Maine Outdoor Film Festival. Featuring whitewater kayaking in Maine, The Way We Live is a compilation of video captured by several different whitewater kayakers across the state. The film was compiled and edited by Taylor Walker solely for the Maine Outdoor Film Festival as a way to shine some light on the whitewater community of Maine. Maine is a special place, full of awesome people and majestic rivers, if you have never traveled to Maine it's worth the journey. We hope you enjoy this film!
    Big thanks to those that contributed footage to this project and a special thanks to Miles Puleio, Mitch Noddin, Mike McVey and Pat Mullin for helping with the final edit and putting in some late nights to make it all come together.
    A special thanks to Archnemesis for being the only band that didn't demand absurd amounts of money for use of their tracks in this film. Their music is awesome, look them up!

    Water the colour of tea, big water waves you can surf all day, some sendy waterfalls, rapids that look like the rinse cycle of a giant washing machine... I think I'm going to have to visit Maine before I die. When are the best flows, and how hard is it for an outsider to find people to paddle with?
    Great video! Liked and subscribed.

    Have you done the Dead River in the spring at 10,000 plus. Hit Poplar Hills Falls on the left side and see what you think next time your out. I have and it's a long ride with some keeper holes. Thanks for the film. Nice job

    Are the playspots in this video well known? Would love some beta on that wave at 1:30. Looks great like one of the best waves this side of Canada.

      kayakinrob That's the "Madison Wave" It's in Madison, ME. Look for 17,000 CFS on the Kennebec at Madison USGS gage. 17,000 is the minimum for eddy access, goes as low as 15k however. Get's really good between 19k-22k. Starts to wash above 24k, look for "Mitochondria" to come in further down river at flows higher than when Madison is good.

    • @MaineRiverLife
      @MaineRiverLife  10 років тому +1

      There are many, but to rattle off a few, the West Branch Penobscot, Penobscot Dryway, East Branch Piscataquis, Sandy Stream, Kennebec, Austin Stream, Cold Stream, Wilson Stream, East Branch Penobscot, Gulf Hagas, Webster Stream, a lot of the play shots are on the Penobscot and Kennebec closer to the ocean where they are high volume.
