Where did you learn so much about bottles and history of stuff, and how did you get started in digging for bottles and artifacts? Your channel is very interesting. Thanks for posting. 😊
All those crown ovals, near a saloon, makes me think it had an opioid derivative in it, Of which was popular with local stoners of that period. Ty for taking us along
Hi 👋 Tom and hi 👋 jake 😊another good bottle hunt 😊I always amazed that people lived hear and the bottles are the only evidence of their existence 😊have a good weekend 😀 Andrew south wales uk 👌 👍 👏 😀 🇬🇧
Well. It was worth waiting for. Those green liquor type bottles. Those are a beautiful color. Another great day. Hope you guys are doing well. Take care. Can't wait for the next one.😊
Nice dig. I think you were quite correct in thinking people were drinking the extracts as a alternate alcoholic beverage. I know in Canada sometime in the mid 1900's that extracts (vanilla in particular) were no longer allowed to use alcohol as a base product. Nice to see that Bradon Empire beer bottle. As beer bottles were reused it is possible it made its way south of the border around prohibition time. I've no doubt that if you continue digging in northern North Dakota you'll come across more.
Awesome bottles Tom. Pretty good haul out of to pits. Looks cold up there. Thank you for the awesome videos. Always looking forward to your video. Never know what you will find. Stay warm. ❤❤
You are correct about the extract. Vanilla extract and Jamaica Ginger was often drank as an alcoholic beverage. I've seen many pumpkin seed and coffin flasks with Jamaica Ginger labels.
Those English machines got real nice color. I recently was given a similar bottle but in turquoise and more shaped like a square sauce. Likewise machine made but the whittle on it is so crazy that you can only see the seams at the top.
Funniest thing. I was watching a cop show the other night. The chic was pulled over for being all over the road..she was trashed. Her drink of choice was vanilla extract..the car was loaded with empty bottles, every kind, every size..some still unopened..I was shocked and had to laugh. I had just watched your episode of all the extract bottles..they weren't baking..lol
❤️ the channel! Wondering if you have any beginner how to videos or advice? Just got probing rod and have a farm that I want to scope out. Thank you in advance
So what do you do with all these? Do you have a shop or a booth at an antiques mall, or sell them online? Are you also a collector searching for your own rare pieces?
How many pairs of gloves would you estimate you go through in a year? Love your vids. They remind me of my childhood. Love and hugs from me in New Mexico USA.
I'm having a little difficulty with the Sanborn maps... Some clearly show outbuildings labeled 'privy' or other names.. but most do not. Should i just assume Any smaller structure in the 'back' area of a property is a privy? Also, i have seen the circles that indicate 'air shafts', either wooden or brick framed. Are these some kind of indoor privy, or something else? Thanks in advance, whoever is reading this.
@@ritahall8653. Seriously, I'm a retired heavy equipment operator. Digging in many areas across the U.S. The ground varies from hard, soft, wet, dry, sticky, sandy, etc, etc... The prettiest ground that I ever dug was about 20 feet deep in central Florida. It was a sticky, gummy clay that was a beautiful turquoise color. In north central Indiana, I dug pure sand. The Florida Keys, hard coral rock. Georgia, areas of red
It seems like alot of drug and alcohol abuse from privy to privy from site to site and every state you go to. How did people function back then hopped up on opium and coke and alcohol. What book or books have you published? I would love to know way more on this hobby.

Hi there! I love watching you dig through the dirt, uncovering one thing after another. I wonder, though, what do you do with all of it? Thanks!
Boy that hard packed soil is rough on the bottles & on your hands, you may have to give those hands a few days ready!Great work guys!
HaHa! Seriously? Not all of us men are wimps.
My favorite pass time is watching men work!

Noticed the plate from Trenton, NJ.
My grandfather used to have a bar in Trenton. “Stouty’s”
Thirties, I think.

Hi Tom👋 Great video.
Just found your site. Very interesting. Looks like you dug up a dump from the old days.😊
Thanks for policing your page also. These damn instagram scammers.
Interesting digs!
Love your videos❤ I am having trouble getting ahold of old maps. Any suggestions?
My husband use to mark property lines for a private logging company & he said he got the maps at the county accessors office!Good luck!

Hello Sir Digsalot..excellent vids... God Bless...Can I ask you a question? Can you make money digging and selling old bottles?

I can now identify a crown oval …….great video …thank you

Do you use a T bar?
What do you do with all those bottles you dig ?
Tom, when you have chance, you should tell people about the books you have written.
Somebody realllllly liked Extract and Beer 😮
Someone went to the outhouse to drink 😂
That would of been a site a brood of inebriated chickens along the river bank 😂

Ha!! my homemade vanilla is pure alcohol, made from vodka. Lol
I do believe that you two need some warmer weather
A little cool weather doesn't bother us men.
I do believe the 2nd pit was connected to a drug store or a doctors office.
Hmmm.... that's what he said.
What do you do with all this history?? Musuems??:)
I think I see some undigested seeds
You need wrist supports!!!!
HaHa! Say there. Evidently you have a limp wrist. The majority of real men don't need wrist support.
Or do you do it for the thrill of the finds?
I why was that ground so hard
Because it's not soft.
