Can you imagine being in the cast of Rogers and one of the actual Avengers shows up to see your show and then walks out before the intermission? Brutal.
Great to see the return of the supportive, non-wet blanket spouse in Laura Barton! Quite possibly the rarest of all characters in all of movies, because writers seem to love to pair together the protagonists with people who constantly try and tell them not to do things they need to do because it creates "conflict" when in reality it's just annoying. For that reason alone she's a great character.
I'm also extra glad they didn't go for that obvious cliché route because of how much it would have contradicted her character. She went into the relationship knowing this, agreed to keep their relationship a secret and agreed to live in and raise kids in a safehouse off the grid, as well as having been with him for many years, presumably longer than any other MCU couple. It would make no sense for her to create conflict around him doing hero stuff at this point, in the same way even Pepper (who is naturally a more stubborn person) still let go of this by the time she and Stark had been together for a while
@@WolfieXp Except Pepper never really did until Endgame, after Tony had given it up for 5 years. Super annoying to still have her getting on his case in Infinity War when he's trying to stop what looks like another invasion.
I guess it helps that MCU Clint's basically just a government agent prior to becoming an Avenger so really she's just your average military wife who's used to her husband being away on dangerous missions.

I'm glad you addressed the whole David Aja thing. He has said before that even if Fraction is credited as writer and him as the artist they both consider their run as a mutual effort. To see your work copied on screen and getting almost no credit and definitely no money is a fucking shame, and they should pay him at least for the key visual aspects clearly inspired by his work.
Tons of creators have been completely stepped over with the MCU, and it’s shameful. The whole comic industry is abysmal towards creatives. Many have said they earned more money for minor creations than they have for characters like Jubilee or Gambit.
I bet their excuse is that "visual style" is not easily itemized for a paycheck. You can put numbers to words in a book but how do you quantify the visual direction of an entire character? And they don't want to even think about that or throw out a random number. I hope Aja gets everything he deserves and more, the guy is a genius.
I find this show and it’s relationship to the Fraction/Aja run so interesting. Fraction and Aja created the definitive look, tone, and characterizations for Clint and Kate and I don’t think anyone would argue that. But that comic came out in 2013, just a year after the first Avengers film. Had Hawkeye not been introduced into the MCU until later, you know they would’ve looked at that book for inspiration. Instead we have this very different Hawkeye, pulling loosely from his Ultimate version, put into a story that in the comics revolves around a very different Clint Barton (single, self-destructive mope vs family man). I think the show does a good job considering that challenge.
I find it interesting that Ant man is the only person in the musical that wasn't in there in 2012 for the battle of new york, but he was the only one that time traveled back to new york in 2012 that wasn't originally there. @@masteryoda7207 Who's to say he didn't plan to? They didn't get the opportunity to do that because the track suit mafia showed up at Kate's apartment, then he had to get it back from Grills, then he had to go confront the mafia again.

I found it interesting that Hawkeye's daughter asked about the cut on his face, then the next scene Kate's mum didn't even mention Kate's similar injuries whilst in their office. (She could of assumed it was from the bombing at the gala, but for me she is 100% confirmed evil)
I’d be happy if Kingpin is just a post credits scene because it would confirm they’re bringing back Daredevil which is still the best show Marvel ever did and that coming back alone gets me exited. Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio are awesome and i really hope that they do bring back Daredevil.

Coulson set up a cover story for Stane's death at the end of Iron Man 1 because you can't well say "Pepper Potts murdered him extrajudiciously". So I think that cover story is still intact.
I don't think the public knows of Stane's actions in IM1, considering they covered up how he died and what happened to the reactor. So having a bell tower named after him still is not that strange.
Just saying, this show would have been way different if she saw Hulk first instead of Hawkeye... "I'll give you anything you need" "I need a Gamma Lab and rage issues"
I think the LARP scene is such a payoff from "The couple days, maybe a week of Ultron" scene where his wife talks about how the "gods" in the Avengers need him. If Tony Stark went to get the suit back from that guy we would be seeing it as a villain's origin story. But Clint understood that while this was a unremarkable annoyance for him, it was going to be one of the most memorable and important days of that guys life.
What I like about Kate is that she's great at on-the-spot improvisation, but horrible at planning ahead. It's the perfect balance of hero material and room to grow.
16:33 you say it's weird that a school would leave the name Stane Tower even though he was a villain, but there are real life schools that have been named after real life villains for a hundred+ years so it's not that far fetched imo
They are using Jack's known villainy as a red herring. Kate's mother is the villain and probably is Madame Masque, as opposed to just working for her. And Kate's dad is definitely not dead. They made a point of answers "not falling out of the sky" and then the option of faking his death did. I've never read these comics but that twist seemed obvious and that's what the uncle found out and was threatening her over.
I initially thought I wouldn't watch the Marvel TV shows but as it turns out I have and I love them. Hawkeye so far is no exception and based on the opening two episodes it may be my favourite.
If you watch the Legends show on Disney+ they have an episode on Clint Barton and there’s quite a bit of the Black Widow movie in there providing some Clint/Natasha context as well as Yelena’s mission to take out the person responsible for Nat’s death. I think Yelena is going to factor in quite a bit and we will get more Nat aftermath. (And I say Good!)
I thought he was more concerned about someone putting the suit on and then having the baddies who want vengeance on ronin coming after them. He doesn’t want anyone innocent getting hurt because of what he did.
The apartment they go to, the hallway at least, is a reference to Leon: The Professional. It's either the same hallway or they made a set exactly like the hallway from the movie.
They best have made a video that's a day of pizza dog that's mostly incomprehensible dialogue and he gets his own adventure Doesn't have to be an episode. Just a neat short film that's a companion piece.
In the comics, Hawkeye did save her from the mob as part of the avengers, but they changed it to the Chitari for the show to tie it in with the universe
I feel so bad for David Aja. This is all taken from My Life As A Weapon, and Matt Fraction is a producer on the show but Aja, the artist who made all the creative and visual choices for that book, gets nothing. Genuinely upsetting
He didn't do ALL the creative work, writing is a creative art, Fraction wrote the thing, Aja didn't. I also highly doubt the visuals didn't go through Fraction before they went into the final product. Like, I get your point, and wish Aja got some kind of credit or pay for it, but your comment makes it seem like Fraction didn't do anything and got all the credit, when that isn't the case.

I remember in Endgame, Tony and Steve leave Scott behind in 2012 to get the Tesseract. I suppose all the Ant-Man memorabilia only exists because Scott wondered off to fight some aliens for a bit before warping back to 2023.
I was surprised that he kept the tattoo. I thaught Linda Cardellini would have insisted on getting it removed. Apart from that, I liked it a lot. The opening sequence was strangely moving.
That would be the worst thing Marvel can do. Like it or not, Kingpin has already been established along with Daredevil by the Netflix shows. Not using Kingpin in a story that has direct ties to him would be bonkers in the highest degree.
I think that the whole thing with the watch is that kingpin wants it or it belonged to him and all of this mess is just to set up how much power and influence he has in the criminal underworld of NYC
Regarding the in-universe retention of the name of “Stane Tower” on the university campus. The public is unaware of Obadiah Stane being Iron Monger, as his “turn” was all behind the scenes and only known about by Tony’s inner circle, probably some Stark employees that helped him assemble the suit, and SHIELD, who were also the ones to cover up his death with a fabricated story of a plane crash while on vacation. Without that insider knowledge there wouldn’t be a blatant in-universe reason to take down his name from any plaques or the like. I thought that perhaps Tony or Stark industries as a whole may have donated to the school in memory of Stane to further the cover up and to show that there wasn’t any bad blood between the former business partners, hence the plaque. However, and it’s a little hard to read, I think the plaque is dated 2006, which would put it couple years or better (depending on which MCU timeline you subscribe to) before the events of Iron Man 1 and the death of Stane. It would also likely say something more like “In Memory Of” instead of “In Honour Of” if it were in fact in regards to his death and I was simply incorrect about the date on the plaque. It may simply be that Stane himself donated to perhaps what might have been his old school before the events of Iron Man, hence the plaque. Or it’s very likely just meant to be a fun Easter Egg and people like myself are just try reading too far into it.
Ant man was there in 2012 in Endgame. Maybe it's an Easter egg about how someone saw him, but they didn't know he was time traveling. They could explore it in a sequel or series.
That opening scene when the Chitari attack New York gave me a panic attack (in a good way) it showed how it felt to just be living your life and then bam aliens show up. You wouldn’t know what to do and to have your house crashing down around you is terrible
So that guy emphasizing "clint barton" twice while talking about Renner still being in the MCU sure sounds like him admitting Kate will get the Hawkeye title, though I think most people expected that anyway.
I saw a post somewhere about ant man being in the musical being a reference to when he is in New York in 2012 in endgame, like maybe there’s a conspiracy theory in cannon that he was really there because someone saw him (but like the endgame 2012 isn’t the actual past I guess? Idk I hate their time travel explanation)
You know how Val has a photo of Clint in the Ronin suit? I think that will play into the story later on. So it wouldn’t only be Yelena going after Clint to kill him, but also the rest of the rest of the criminal underworld.
The suit has to be like fireproof or something, maybe it's made of cool Avengers/Stark tech or whatever. Otherwise it's just silly that it hasn't been destroyed yet. It was in the middle of that fire.
It's pretty good so far! It's not falling in to a lot of the same traps that most other new Marvel things do. Which is nice. Things feel earned and are properly established, characters have motivation and can actually grow. I'd give it a solid 7-8/10
This is probably a nitpick, but its really gotten stuck in my bonnet. When Hawkeye jumped off the building in Avengers, I swear that was quite a bit of time into the Battle of New York. How did no one in that house notice that there was an alien invasion?
In another video someone suggested that the long time passing in Avengers was what it felt like to the Avengers and the incredibly compressed time in Hawkeye is what it felt like to the average citizen.
@@Rob-lw8to I'm not necessarily saying I buy it, but I thought it was an interesting rationalization. Maybe the fight just got stuck in traffic for a while and didn't make it to the Bishop's neighbourhood until then.

@@masteryoda7207 Who's to say he didn't plan to? They didn't get the opportunity to do that because the track suit mafia showed up at Kate's apartment, then he had to get it back from Grills, then he had to go confront the mafia again.
I love how in the world of Marvel, two people who could easily be olympic gold medalists in several disciplines are considered incompetent 😂
I almost completely forgot about the Ronin sleeve tattoo until episode 2 and I couldn't stop laughing when I saw it again
It’s so weird for Hawkeye to have that
That hearing loss montage was fantastic. Actually got a good laugh as someone with minor hearing loss myself, lol.
Always remember, If you're playing live music, be smart and wear your ear plugs.
I found it interesting that Hawkeye's daughter asked about the cut on his face, then the next scene Kate's mum didn't even mention Kate's similar injuries whilst in their office. (She could of assumed it was from the bombing at the gala, but for me she is 100% confirmed evil)
im just very excited to see tony dalton, love him in better call saul, he has that same you love to hate him energy
The fact that Marvel didn't allow Hulu to use Bullseye on Hit-Monkey gives me hope that they are planning on continuing Daredevil's story in the MCU.
@@Magnet_Chaos That would be nice, but all the rumors suggests that the daredevil canon is being reset...but the actual actors are coming back. I'm very intrigued because I've never seen that done before.
@@BlueSparkzVideos reset canon with the same actors has been done with the Halloween franchise twice. I hope they don't reset the Daredevil canon though. They're more likely just going to keep it vague and allude to things without saying much
Coulson set up a cover story for Stane's death at the end of Iron Man 1 because you can't well say "Pepper Potts murdered him extrajudiciously". So I think that cover story is still intact.
I don't think the public knows of Stane's actions in IM1, considering they covered up how he died and what happened to the reactor. So having a bell tower named after him still is not that strange.
Kate's apartment in the show is Clint's apartment from the comic.
I was slightly disappointed to see it burn because it was such a visually satisfying callback.
King pin spelt backwards is mephisto!
Just saying, this show would have been way different if she saw Hulk first instead of Hawkeye...
"I'll give you anything you need"
"I need a Gamma Lab and rage issues"
I think the LARP scene is such a payoff from "The couple days, maybe a week of Ultron" scene where his wife talks about how the "gods" in the Avengers need him.
If Tony Stark went to get the suit back from that guy we would be seeing it as a villain's origin story. But Clint understood that while this was a unremarkable annoyance for him, it was going to be one of the most memorable and important days of that guys life.
At the beginning when Kate is firing at the bell she calls one of her friends Greer which is the name of Tigra in the comics.
What I like about Kate is that she's great at on-the-spot improvisation, but horrible at planning ahead. It's the perfect balance of hero material and room to grow.
I too am excited to see Ben Affleck's return as Daredevil, thanks Mr.Sunday Content!
16:33 you say it's weird that a school would leave the name Stane Tower even though he was a villain, but there are real life schools that have been named after real life villains for a hundred+ years so it's not that far fetched imo
A school near where I live in the uk was named after a slave trader and it only just got renamed a couple months ago 😂
So glad Collings got 2 episode worth of footage to edit with. Always look forward to the shots he chooses
1:15 thats some brutal editing well done
I thought he was more concerned about someone putting the suit on and then having the baddies who want vengeance on ronin coming after them. He doesn’t want anyone innocent getting hurt because of what he did.
Yup. Poor Grills.
@18:36 "She's an anti-hero" [cuts to Aunt May]
I see what you did there.
Echo wants the watch to give to Kingpin for Christmas 💯
Kinda wish that Clint larping costume was based on the classic suit , the purple archer suit
The apartment they go to, the hallway at least, is a reference to Leon: The Professional. It's either the same hallway or they made a set exactly like the hallway from the movie.
The apartment is almost a perfect replica of Clint's apartment in the Fraction/Aja run, though. I guess there's no reason it can't be both.
@@eastvandb ahh okay, I recognized the hallway but couldn't be sure if the apartment was a reference to the movie or the comic run.
@@wmascolin
I don't have a strong hit on the hallway, so maybe they're doing a bit of everything.
11:20 Nathaniel “Pietro” Barton was named in honor of nat and pietro. After the accords, he retired and had a new born son.
Good thing she saw him being a badass hero, I mean a few days earlier he was doing Loki's bidding.
18:36 "auntie hero" Collings humor on point
They best have made a video that's a day of pizza dog that's mostly incomprehensible dialogue and he gets his own adventure Doesn't have to be an episode. Just a neat short film that's a companion piece.
Stick him in the Pet Avengers with Alligator Loki and Throg.
Yeah the bit where he can’t quiet pin where he lost his hearing was funny😂😂
In the comics, Hawkeye did save her from the mob as part of the avengers, but they changed it to the Chitari for the show to tie it in with the universe
Thank u I was going to say that Per New Rockstars…. You calling Voss a liar lol 😂🏹🎯
@@doomstadt2371 Fraction has admitted that he changed his writing style for Hawkeye, letting Aja make a majority of the creative choices because Fraction loved his art so much and was blown away with each issue
Are we not gonna talk about how a firefighter stole from a fire victim's house and posted himself wearing the stolen item on social media?
Is this something firefighters do? They steal from the burned houses they're supposed to be rescuing?
That and the larping scene were so awful.
I doubt it has never happened before.
I have no idea but probably. I know there’s some clean up crews for things like water/flood damage that will take some stuff and just claim it was water damaged
Maybe he’s with The Vulture’s crew
Fuck the fire department
Dropping by unannounced just to fry your apartment
If they can't find a fire they’re like "Why don't we start them?"
I'm tired of arson
Fuck the fire department
Seems like a long time since Loki! I love tuning into your guys reviews.
My favorite thing about Hawkeye is the strong father figures it portrays.
18:36 Very nice aunty hero joke snuck in there. The editing on these is always amazing!
Nothing like some hot fresh Mr Sunday content for Thanksgiving. We are truly blessed.
I don't know M8, tastes kinda store bought this time..... 😂
Linda Cardellini the actor, not Hawkeyes in universe wife
"I am solid, you can quote me on that" I damn near died!
The flashback of Hawkeye saving her is a adapted from a comic after the Matt fraction run.
I found it interesting in Civil War that the two dads (Clint and Scott) were against the Sokovia Accords.
Echo probably wants that Avengers watch as a gift to her adoptive father; Wilson “Kingpin” Fisk.
Or it could be a nanite suit belonging to Tony.
@@ArlanKels Or it’s a tiny little glass cage that has a miniature John Krazinski inside.
Im loving Hawkeye so much. And these videos never cease to crack me up, great work
More likely, they've made Echo the big boss (or so it initially seems) to avoid having any Kingpin whatsoever.
I fucking hope not
Clearly you’re wrong. Kingpin is in the thumbnail inside a red circle. That means he’s in the show.
That would be the worst thing Marvel can do. Like it or not, Kingpin has already been established along with Daredevil by the Netflix shows. Not using Kingpin in a story that has direct ties to him would be bonkers in the highest degree.
nah, unlikely. Echo is getting her own show so shes definitely not a big bad
Kingpin will debut in Hawkeye the week before Matt is in No Way Home.
Compensation for Aja, Fraction, and the rest of that invaluable creative team!!!!
There has to be something significant about the watch. It's the one thing the Tracksuit Mafia was specifically looking for at the auction.
I think that the whole thing with the watch is that kingpin wants it or it belonged to him and all of this mess is just to set up how much power and influence he has in the criminal underworld of NYC
14:41 The picture that Val showed to Yelena was Clint wearing the Ronin suit meaning maybe some people know the Ronin’s identity or at least Val.
I agree that the retractable sword bothered me far more than I should’ve let it lol
Same. I felt vindicated that James brought it up.
12:47 I thought the watch was one of the watches from endgame?
Clint just wanting to go home and being tired of everyone's shit was such a mood
"Aunty Hero" lol. Perfect Aunt May insert.
1:14 GD, the editing team is always on point!
I mean, Florence Pugh is in the official cast list so it’s pretty safe to assume she’s showing up at some point…
Ant man was there in 2012 in Endgame. Maybe it's an Easter egg about how someone saw him, but they didn't know he was time traveling. They could explore it in a sequel or series.
In the "All New Hawkeye" run, Kate was rescued by Hawkeye from an attack when she was younger.
17:25 when they edit Echo turning back around, got me rolling lmfao
Very much looking forward to seeing more of Echo.
Peter Parker: With great power comes great responsibility. Do I want this power? Do I deserve to wield it?
Kate Bishop: LEEEEEEEROY JENKINS!
I don't think Obadiah Stane's villainy was actually made public. Shield covered up the whole thing so it looked like he died on a random holiday.
I’m glad you added the big sandwich Hawkeye clip twice because I actually didn’t get it until the second time
i didn't get it until i read your comment
That opening scene when the Chitari attack New York gave me a panic attack (in a good way) it showed how it felt to just be living your life and then bam aliens show up. You wouldn’t know what to do and to have your house crashing down around you is terrible
6:16 nice transition
Throwing in aunt may by anti hero was a brilliant bit of editing 👌👌
Wouldn’t it be really funny if the watch is really important and at the end of the series we see Fisk go finally my favour watch.
I like the artistic choices they made so far, like the funny little side comments in the show by characters.
The suit has to be like fireproof or something, maybe it's made of cool Avengers/Stark tech or whatever. Otherwise it's just silly that it hasn't been destroyed yet. It was in the middle of that fire.
Jack isn’t played by Paul F Tompkins, it was Tony Dalton, the guys from better call saul
It's pretty good so far!
It's not falling in to a lot of the same traps that most other new Marvel things do. Which is nice.
Things feel earned and are properly established, characters have motivation and can actually grow.
I'd give it a solid 7-8/10
What traps are you referring to?
He's written so well in this. I love it
This is probably a nitpick, but its really gotten stuck in my bonnet.
@@eastvandb I get where you're coming from but I have to disagree. I mean a lot happened in that time sequentially.
@@Rob-lw8to
I'm not necessarily saying I buy it, but I thought it was an interesting rationalization.
Maybe the fight just got stuck in traffic for a while and didn't make it to the Bishop's neighbourhood until then.
Things in Avengers happen at the same time. It feels longer because it cuts between what each character is doing
@@exzyyd392
Now that you mention it, I think the video I refer to above also made that point. It makes sense.
