Well this is one of the most helpful art videos I've ever watched. Just bought this comic grey set and this is the first time I tried to do anything with them, working on a 1924 portrait of my dapper grandfather as you worked. Thank you EVER so much.
Thank you so much for this! Now I know why my sketch turned out awful the fist time I tried them- I started backwards and used the darkest tones first and because I had zero experience with using alcohol markers, had no idea how to blend them properly! I came across these because I just happened to stumble onto some competitor Copics, specifically the cool grey tones, at my super tiny rural Ross store- they were only $3.99/pck! I have only tried two sketches so far but they work beautifully! Now that I have a better understanding as to how to implement properly, I will look forward to doing more!
This is really lovely. I love all your tutorials. The only thing that puts me off buying and trying out these copic markers is since they are fugitive inks and so aren’t lightfast, any original work would fade over time. I have Windsor & Newton pigment markers though, that I want to try using this method. Thanks again for posting 😊
Yes I totally get that! They are on the pricey side, too, for something that will eventually fade. I wouldn’t paint grand finished paintings with them. They are awfully fun, though!
This was really helpful for me as I'm going to start drawing with copic markers for the first time. My markers are yet to be delivered, and they are very costly so just ordered the grey pack.😅thanks.
can you make more videos about copics? or maybe another black & white portrait/drawing? believe it or not there aren't many realistic portrait tutorials about copic
@NaomiC Art go to EmilyOlsonArt.com she has full tutorials there. I usually just use her UA-cam videos, but if you are making a painting for a holiday or Christmas gift, I recommend going on the site.

Wow this is great ,thank you very much. Your explanations are very thorough and easy to fallow. How long did this take you to complete?
So glad you enjoyed! I think this one took about an hour?
Great work. Amazed. Does anybody know other brand alcohol graphic pen as Copics? .0.7 is incredible.
I'd love to know where you got the reference image from!
Did you ink your sketch?? Beautiful picture
super
Thank you. Can you make another version?

I would definitely consider it!
@@EmilyOlsonArt thank you
Looks amazing Emily. Can I ask where you get your references from? (-: Marion
Thank you Marion! Some of my photos are from Unsplash/Pixabay, and many are my own photos. This one is my own-the model is a friend.
Would love to see this as a full tutorial :)

Very pretty, I really want to get into markers but they are so pricey.😭
How do you pick out what details to put with pencil it looks as tho you use minimal lines
Yes, great question! I try to only use darker marks in areas of contrast and shadow, or where details are important.
"Cah-pick"
Just when I thought I've heard it all lol
Your web site is about watercolor. I found this video because I am interested in markers
