- Here is how to change the battery in an Apple TV remote control. I show you how to change the battery in first generation Apple TV remote and a second generation Apple TV remote. To remove the battery from the first generation Apple TV remote, push a paperclip into the little circle button at the bottom of the remote, and the battery door will pop open. On the second generation Apple TV remote, use a penny to turn the battery door to open it.
All this time I’ve been search for a circle shaped charger…I just got some batteries going to test it. 😂😂😂
Thank you!!!

THANKYOU so very much!!! I’ve spent an endless amount of time trying to figure out why the old remote wouldn’t open. You made it look so easy... Hoohoo :)
You’re welcome
Everyone thinks I'm an electronic genius. Little do they know I had to come here to figure this one out. Thanks, makes me look good.

You’re welcome
Thanks for the guideline ... helped me really much. I did it the same way and now with your guideline i was more of a selfconfident to press harder ... hehe
Glad it helped!
Thank you!
Thanks a lot for this. I have a first gen remote and thought you just pushed down with your finger, not realizing you had to use something to push specifically that hole. Saved me a lot of time
You’re welcome.
Thank you for the video. I just popped the battery out and brought it with me for replacement but did not pay attention to details + or -
+Anthony Lambiase You're welcome.
What does the little first gen remote go to? I found one still in the wrapper, but I don’t know what it belongs with.
It was for the original generation one Apple TV.
I have a 2016 iMac which came with this remote. Battery is still the first/original one, and still working, believe it or not. Did not use the remote often
Thank you so much!! I was trying to use a screwdriver to turn the back but it would not work. I tried out the coin method and it finally worked! Thanks for the video sir.
You’re welcome.
Thanx for the video!
It's just that when u have a new gadget the first time u use it is kind of scary ...
You're welcome.
Thank you so much it really helped, I couldn’t figure it out the right stop to turn and close the newer apple TV remote! Really helped 😁
You’re welcome.
With the new generation do you need the cover to work
I think so, but you might be able to duct tape it in place somehow.
Stupid me but Thank you, now I can change my battery.
You’re welcome.
Thanks this vid was helpful I took the battery out and I didn't know how to put it back in! I'm so dumb
Thanks. Coin worked. But one problem - the battery is stuck to the cover. Nothing we’ve done, short of throwing it in the air and letting it land on the ground, has worked to pull them apart. Any advice?
Never mind. Finally ran out of ideas and did just drop it on the floor and voila!!! They separated. Good luck fellow earthlings.
Thank you so much ur really helpful
You're welcome.
thanks for the vid!! I really wish they would just make these micro usb chargeable it would be so much more convenient

Is the old remote fully compatible with a 3rd gen Apple TV? Thanks.
I don’t know. I don’t have one, so I can’t test it.
Your the definition of a life saver
I have an apple tv model a1469 which i believe is 3rd generation. I haven't used it in awhile so, upon starting it up sometimes i'll get the main screen then it goes to message saying " Couldn't sign in incorrect id or password. I can't get it to go back to main screen to reenter id and password. I have tried holding the home button and menu button but no luck. How do i fix this problem?
I don’t know. I haven’t seen that happen. I have a new AppleTV, and the remote has to be charged up. You could try going to the update screen on the Apple TV and installing all the updates and see if that helps.
Thank you for this.
You’re welcome.
Thank you very much.
You are welcome!
My remote keeps draining my batteries. How do I stop this from happening?
I don't know. The battery should last more than a year. Maybe the replacement batteries you are using aren't very good or are old. A good new battery will last a long time.
I lost the cover off the back of my remote will it still work if I put a battery in
+JivenFr3shTitsOnSwag Maybe, if you tape it with duct tape and make sure the electrical contacts on the battery are making a connection.
Okay, Im just wondering if the back cover has some kind of connector to make the battery actually work
I bought a new battery and still don't work. What could it be?
there is no way a penny will open that remote... what else can we use? tried various screwdrivers, cannot open. any ideas?
Are you turning it counterclockwise? That is the way it opens. Otherwise I don’t know why it would not open.
Thx!
You’re welcome.
Should the battery be loose?
No
@@hoohoohoblin ok thanks
@@hoohoohoblinbecause in mine it’s loose
Thank you!!!!
You’re welcome
awesome thanks !
+Stephanie Becker You're welcome.
so easy
wooow, thanks bro!
You’re welcome.
genial thank you
My battery seems to be stuck to the round top that you take off. Can't separate with tweezers either. Hmmm. Off to the Apple Store.
I have the same issue as you. Did you get it resolved?
gigglecheeks123 mines like that
If your battery is stuck on the cover, pry it off with a thin razor or thin hard object. That's what I did. Apparently the battery is glued to the cover.
FRAUD! He never changes any battery! No, seriously, thanks for the video 😉
now you have to charge it, then if it dies for good, uh oh
we have tried every coin in our wallet and every screwdriver in our toolbox and cannot open it.... amy ideas anyone?
Had trouble at first then angled paper clip toward outside and it popped
I see 1 minute tutorial. I clic.
Wrong that is not the remote I have not either one
Use a kitchen knife
well....a little to late..already got mad and smashed mine with a hammer...think different alright...
Good news is that you can buy one cheap on eBay, and it will work with your Apple TV. Or you can download the Apple TV remote control app on your iPhone and control it from your phone.
this must have been designed by a man..... there is no way we can open this with a penny or a nickel, a quarter or amt screwdriver... can we spray WD40 on it?
THANK YOU!
You’re welcome
