You are by far the BEST person to analyze Cradle Of Filth! Thanks for the videos and dont stop please! The one song i would love for you to analyze is 'Thank God For The Suffering' thank you again from one Filthling to another!
Thank you so much for the great words and for your support! That's a great idea, I love the lyrics though I haven't listened to that song in years. It's time to hear it again :)
Absolutely facts!
Great video! I really liked the song and its lyrics and it was exciting to see you react to it and analyze it on the spot!
@Museumofrapture Thank you!! I always thought spontaneous reactions were rather shallow, so I preferred to write analyses first. But now I decided to finally try this format (alternate it with the old), and it's really fun!
I can not wait for more videos
@@DurtinTracey Thank you!!
Another great video. I hope someday you will do a Cradle albums worst to best opinion list.
Thank you very much! Now that's a good idea! I haven't thought about that before (neither about making such a video nor about how to order their albums - so tough to choose!)
@@dr.metalhead5452 Very tough indeed. Cruelty (remistressed) is my personal fav, although I like the creepiness of the original the newer version is as it was intended to be so I'm forever addicted to that album. Their new album drops pretty soon, very excited!
Nice, a fresh new video on the first day of the year! What a treat🔥
Thank you for watching!
Love this! You are absolutely my favourite UA-camr. This song really grew on me. Can't wait for more from C.O.F, and you! Happy New Year! ❤
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words, that's lovely to hear! Have a fantastic 2025!
I love that you're checking out their newer stuff. I personally didn't really like these last singles, like She Is a Fire and Demon Prince Regent, Existence is Futile was definetely a step back from Cryptoriana, but as a fan I'm still excited to listen to their new material. Dani himself said this is their Cold Lake, so they're definetely taking more risks I assume. Even though their music is formulaic, they've been referencing their own songs for a while now, like riffs or titles in the lyrics, and its nice to catch them when you're that familiar with their sound, like Enshrined in Crematoria intro sounds like Black Goddess Rises, Wester Vespertine sounds like Dusk and her Embrace, The Night at Catafalque Manor sounds like Beneath the Howling Stars and so on, Anyway, hope you check the other albums, keep the reactions coming, cheers!
That's true, those are great observations! It definitely feels good when you start seeing patterns and recognizing references, it makes you feel like they're somehow addressed to you. I have to admit I've only listened to their newer stuff selectively and most of them not regularly so I rely on you guys to suggest which of their more recent songs (especially the last 3 of albums) I should react to :D Thank you for watching!
@dr.metalhead5452 then I'd definitely suggest The Night At Catafalque Manor, considering you're familiar with Beneath The Howling Stars, it won't take much for you to see the parallels, but it's a great song on its own.
@@Rafael-kr6zv Awesome, thank you for the recommendation!
The thing I have loved most about Cradle is their willingness to experiment. While I hope the whole album doesn't sound this mainstream, I can appreciate it for what it is and respect that they continue to evolve. This song isn't topping my personal ranks but it'll find itself on my playlist.
Excellent analysis as well. I always enjoy the dark romantic element of Cradle. It's like the Hero's Journey archetype. Timeless.
Well put, I completely agree with everything you said! While I appreciate the novelty and musical creativity, I wouldn't want Cradle of Filth to turn into a different kind of band. But they had some slower riffs and melodic catchy choruses on their previous albums as well, so I assume it's one of those cases where the first single is the most mainstream of the album.
Thank for watching and for the lovely words!
@dr.metalhead5452 Yes. The one example that jumps to my mind is Godspeed's The Death of Love. A fine song in its own right.
Speaking of Godspeed, I would love an analysis of Midnight Shadows and/or Darkness Incarnate. I really enjoy your historical analysis. Thank you.
I wasnt a fan of how calm the song is but over the listens it has grown on me a bit. But their last album had a better first single with Crawling King Chaos.
This song is definitely a variation of Saffron's Curse, and the ending is a variation of From The Cradle to Enslave. Of course, the atmosphere of Midian is there, but the songs on Midiam are much better than the ones here.
Malignant Perfection seems more polite to me - musically weak in the part: "Free the demons...." - such moments repel me, they are too sweet musically and take away from the atmosphere of the song.
I suggest everyone listen to the two above-mentioned songs and honestly answer which one is better. This power metal in Cradle of Filth turns me off... the rest is great. For me: Saffron's Curse, - 10/10 vs Malignant Perfection -6/10.
🤘
That's very true, they played on nostalgia (ours and, I assume, their own) with these musical references. Which is great, but of course it doesn't compare in terms of quality to the originals because they were more complex musically (all those layers of sound in the Midian album!). And even though I do like this catchy chorus (as I mentioned in the video), I wouldn't by no means want them to turn into THAT kind of band for good XD I assume they wanted to lead with their most mainstream song from the album and more brutal ones will follow.
I like it. I appreciate the Midian vibes in the music. I would've liked to hear a little more of his signature shrill screams. But, overall, a good song. I didn't know they released new music recently. Thanks for doing this video.
You're right, that's a great observation! Thank you for watching!
I like the first time reaction. Would love if you could create another video, it can be a short one, in which you gather your thoughts and tell coherent story of the song.
Next song for analysis Dusk... and her embrace :)
Thank you so much! That's a good idea, thanks for the suggestion! "Dusk" is definitely one of the all-time fan favourites!
Dani filth is the best lyricist in metal.
Nobody writes better than Dani.
Metal Shakespeare.
@@dcmastermindfirst9418 I completely agree 🖤
@dr.metalhead5452 Listen to everything.
The guy is freak vocally.
For me this song represents a new version of Cradle of Filth or something like a new music path. It's clear that old spirit is still there, but the bands looks like moving away on very different music perspectives over its creative artistic ground.
I'm a fan of this song; mostly because I love the more 'romantic' stuff. Existence is Futile is still my favourite CoF though...
Awesome! People usually go for their older songs, but I too love the themes on this album! What's your favourite song from it? I'm not sure which one I should analyse.
Not sure I could pick just one, @@dr.metalhead5452. I'd say it's a toss up between Us, Dark, Invincible, and Suffer Our Dominion. The message in the latter is pretty clear - and I'd still love your take on it - but I'm more curious as to the message hidden in Us, Dark, Invincible.
P.s. Listening to both back to back, Suffer Our Dominion wins, imo...
muy buena reaación pero te hace mucho estudir el destiempo
I cant tell if i love the song or find it meh :p
Haha it's often like that XD Sometimes it takes a few more times listening to a song to decide. Thanks for watching!
I want to like new cradle of filth. but its just missing something for me. My COF suggestions for you to dive deeper into are.
Of dark blood and ucking , Babalon AD, All hope in eclipse, lustmord and wargasm. or anything you havnt done on cruelty and the beast.
Great suggestions, thank you, I love those songs! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!
I just find their new stuff boring for the most part.
Existence is futile was absolutely not boring.
You just need taste.
Not a good song.
Thanks for watching! I liked it, but I have to listen to it a few more times to decide how much xD
