  • This is the culmination of the shipping season that began in January 2018. I titled this video "The Boats In My Backyard" because no scene is more than 16 miles from my home. The color grading took a slight beating after uploading this to UA-cam.
    Track Title: Emotional Piano.
    Music by AShamaluev.
    Music Link: • Video
    “Emotional Piano” - is thoughtful instrumental background music track in a cinematic style. This music track is perfect for emotional videos, films, documentaries, cinematic scenes, podcasts, UA-cam videos, Vimeo videos, websites, social networks (facebook, instagram, twitter etc), for commercial projects and more. Music very good technical and aesthetic quality.
    End Credits Music:
    Travis A. King - Nocturne

      I moved out of Toledo to Florida 3 years ago. While I don't miss Toledo, I DO miss these boats! Videos like this take me right home again ... without all the snow and ice! 😉

      They put that flag up for me that day. I was shooting the cover shot for this years "Know Your Ships" and they wanted all the flags in it.

    First shipped out on the Cason J. Callaway in 1959 as a deckhand then a couple of more seasons on the Charles Hebbard and Frank R. Denton. All this fun then went to college and ended up a university professor. Enjoyed my career but always missed the Great Lakes and the deck crew. Thanks for your fine work that is greatly appreciated now in the Arizona desert where folks don't have a feel for the Great Lakes...

    I live in Sarnia and one of the few pleasures here is going down to the bluewater bridge and watching the freight ships go by or check out the ones docked, if your nice they will let you stroll around on deck a bit. Great video this is why I love living on the Lakes.

    Many of these vessels pulled into Cleveland's harbor as well, and having been born and raised on Erie's Lakeshore, this was a very nostalgic piece. Beautifully combined with your excellent choice of music. 5 Star! I'm sharing this with friends I know will feel the same about our ships on the Great Lakes. We Love Them!

      Thank you very much. I really enjoy your videos as well. I was about half way done with this video and have to agree. I planned my shots better this year... the drone does most of the work though. It's pretty darn stable. I sometimes find it hard to belive some of the static shots are a small aircraft, hovering.

      Great videos, excellent work Dan. We promote and share them with our friends. You capture the greatest feature of our area. You videos and music selections are well done. Most take for granted what is in our backyard. We love sailing our boat from the Soo down to and around St Joseph Island and back. How about you filming our sailing races in the soo. You have captured the historical timeline of water travel throughout the St Mary's River System; canoue, sail, steam, and now. Lots of folks don't think of our area as the "Western" part of the North Channel.

    Dan Vaughtm where are the majority of these shots taken from, which allows you decent drone range and flight time?

    • @daddyrabbit835
      @daddyrabbit835  5 років тому +2

      The eastern end of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan almost exclusively around DeTour Village. I average about 3000 to 4000 feet range wise to capture the passing boats. I can go out 2 miles if I want, but rarely do. I usually get a good 25 minutes per battery.
