American veteran here, I am heart broken with the war. It is a net loss on both sides unless you're in the business end of this tragedy. Every war now ends at the negotiating table and I really wish it would go there quickly. That said, I had an apartment that I put up on couch surfing in Phnom Penh and for some reason it was all Russians that came to stay and to the person I found them all to be wonderful. This was some years ago and the thought that they might have gotten sucked into this horror show brings me to tears. I doubt any that I met would have gone unless they were conscripted. That brick art is awesome! Only in Russia will one find such things. I even noticed that third brick you showed with the two people watching TV had a poster of Viktor Tsoi. Keno is awesome and Kukushka is one of my favorite songs of all time! I'd love to learn to sing it in Russian! (I wish I spoke Russian like you). Yes, my dearest friend could likely teach it to me, we just have not gotten around to that. We always talk about us and important things feeding love into our friendship bordering on relationship. Russians can be very close in friendship and they are like Velcro, can't ask for better than that. They genuinely care about their friends and family domestic or foreign.
As for how most Russians treat Westerners: Don't get me started, we will be here all day! Suffice it to say that Russians don't assume much. If one is genuine and honest on good behavior the way Russians treat one from the west or whatever is a very humbling experience. I have always considered myself kind-hearted and everything and behave accordingly as I also happen to be an empath. That said and true though when I met my first Russians and ultimately my best friend I was still humbled! The amazing part of it all is how incredibly kind-hearted most Russians can be in spite of some of the rather unpleasant rule/leadership under which they have lived and do live at least by western standards if not others. (Really not much different from the US leadership) Also, most Russians are very gracious and appreciative people you will ever meet! Give them even the smallest thing including just a mere compliment and it is a big deal to them! I have experienced it many times over and have even seen it on your channel and others! Many Russians while quite shy still also do not hesitate to help visitors to their country if they can. Russians as with many other peoples view others a individuals, separate from their perspective governments/leadership. Americans are practically the only people that tend to view others (Russians in this case) as part of the leadership/government, working directly for said leadership. I'm still to this day shocked at how many Americans think all Russians work for Putin or hate Americans and others or love the terrible things their leadership does or even work for FSB (Americans still call it KGB and also think there is but one Kremlin). Americans do not understand anything much on the whole, least of which the fact that "Kremlin" means fortress and there are many in Russia, some turned into parks or museums and what have you.
Bottom line before I go on forever is this: The media and group think is all lies and propaganda. The best and truest friend one can have is someone from Russia. As mentioned before, when I met my best friend 8 years ago, I realized that I had never had true friend until then! I have very warm feelings even about my Russian acquaintances! Know this though (you probably do already) that Russians are quite shy and one must let them go at their own pace to get to know you. Many people here in the sates think Russians are not loving or friendly or affectionate, etc. It is opposite, once they get to know you you may be overwhelmed how loving or affectionate and friendly they can be. The secret is to be open-minded and honest with them. Learn some of their ways.
One of my problems is that I would likely go around wanting to hug them if I visited. (Don't try to do that at first, but that will come with time). One of the problems that would happen if my best friend and I ever had the chance to physically meet up would set a new world record for longest hug and such. We may have to be surgically separated! What also blows my mind is that her whole family knows me as well now! Like I have said, to Russians there is little separation between family and close friends. It is almost one in the same at a point.
I will never understand the fear of Russians by Americans. It comes from leadership, media and too many movies. In fact, Russians see James Bond movies as comedies, seriously, really. I have had this discussion with a number of Russians.

I don't blame Americans for their negative views about Russia because they just believe what they are told. The American Government may change more often but they are the ones with the 800 military bases worldwide and the weapons sales. They control the world and anyone who steps out of line gets in trouble.
Have you thought about perhaps meeting your friend? I get the feeling that it would be a good idea for you!

There is a very big and fundamental difference from the US government and Russia. In Russia, most people respect and really vote for their leader. They are proud of their government, while in the US it's the complete opposite. It is not correct to put the Russian and US governments on the same shelf. And you are saying in vain that the Russians are suffering a lot, but despite their suffering, they have retained some moral qualities. This is not in spite of, but thanks to. It's all interconnected. I remember people in the US under other governments and in other times. Everything was different. The political, social situation greatly influences the moral state of society. When you give a high appraisal to the moral qualities of Russians, you are simultaneously evaluating their political and social situation. Let's be honest - most people on this planet and most countries in the world would be happy to elect Mr. Putin as president (including the United States)

Sam -- This video proves unequivocally how absolutely evil all Russians are in Vladimir:
    1. The bus driver refused to open the bus doors to allow Sam on the bus.
    2. The street vendors spat in his food when he bought a hot dog.
    3. Children gave one finger salutes as he passed.
    4. Sam was always followed by Russian Security Police, the FSB.
    5. Shop keepers refused to serve him.
    6. We saw irrefutable evidence that children were being arrested in the park for playing ball.
    7. We just about managed to see a westerner being racked (as in mediaeval torture) in a corner of the restaurant for criticising Russian food.
    8. This justifies Olena Zelenska's call to invade Russia and "replace" every Russian with a Ukrainian. Russia will be then be called "Greater Zelenska!" The Russian language would be forbidden on pain of 10 year's imprisonment in Siberia. Russian children would be trained to sweep floors and break blocks of granite at the quarry.

      @MrDavidc 11 місяців тому +2

Here's an extract from her diary, in case it's of interest-written in1913 "I have had exceptional opportunities of studying the Russian people, for until the Revolution began, I lived with the Nobility, then the Intelligentsia and went about the villages freely amongst the peasantry. I have seen them in peaceful times, during war-time and Revolution and shared their joys and sorrows. At this time, Russian people were deeply religious, emotional, stubbornly conservative, improvident and fatalistic, ‘What has to be, has to be’ answers every crisis. In misfortune, they sit patiently until help arrives, or allowing themselves to be led like lambs to the slaughter. They are thoroughly peaceful and are generally more warm and kind than any other nationality. During my time there, I hardly ever heard an unkind word about another human being.
There were many beggars in Russia, for there were no poor houses, but no beggar was ever refused alms, for two reasons. Russians are compassionate and like to give. They are also superstitious and if refused help, the beggar might curse them. They always refer to criminals as unfortunates and en route to Siberia, peasants regularly place bread outside, on their window sills for any ‘unfortunates’ who may be passing by or escaping.
There is an indescribable charm about the people. Their music is haunting and heart searching, their poetry nearest to man and nature and their human charity nearest to God.
The Russian soul is filled with a human Christian charity, which is warmer in kind, intense in degree and expressed with a greater simplicity than is to be met with in any other nation. Every Russian has tolerance for human frailty. They admire and aim at possessing ‘Shirokaya’ nature- a broad and generous nature".@@SamsRussianAdventures
