    Thank you! Great instructions! Luckily I didn't need to replace the pump because I found a piece of popsicle stick stuck in the pump itself and now everything is working as it should. As a woman, I sure appreciate when people like you post videos of how to fix something. It's satisfying to be able to repair something myself. My husband has enough to worry about for work so it was nice that I could take one more thing off his plate.

      Me too. I found the pump to be gummed up with debris. Cleaned it. Reassembled. Good as new.

    I couldn't wait for my husband or anyone else to come and fix my 13 year old Maytag Neptune, so I followed your instructions and YAY! it works! I was lucky - I found an old piece of wiry metal that wedged itself between the black rubber thing and the impeller, preventing it from spinning. I thought it might not work afterwards and need a new pump, but no, it works after removing the metal. Much wringing of hands and praying before attaching the black hoses and trying it out - but success! Nothing leaks! Thank you for your very clear video, I played some spots over and over.

    Thanks! Good video.
    Hey, you DO NOT actually need the shop vac. Once you get the soaking wet clothes out, scoop out as much water as you can using a cottage cheese container or something similar. That will make the machine light enough to pivot out away from the wall and access the back panel. There's one 1/4 inch nut holding on a plate where the drain hose comes out. Remove that panel, and that will allow you to place the hose flat on the floor so you can simply drain the washer into the floor drain. (CAUTION! This only works if your laundry room DOES have a floor drain!)

    My Neptune is very loud during the draining. I can hear it throughout my entire house when it is draining. So I just bought the new pump. I do not want to buy a new washing machine as everyone I know who has bought newer machines complains about the quality. My Neptune does a fantastic job keeping the clothes clean since 1999 and been well maintained and always keep it clean and always let it air out after it is done. Looks easy enough :)

    Excellent video, thanks so much for the help. My setup had one hose clamp and one squeeze clamp - and of course, the squeeze clamp was on the front side of the rubber boot, and was a pain to get off. But other than that, this vid was perfect and extra helpful. :)

    This was a very informative video.
    I do not agree with putting anti-seize on rubber components. It’s not designed for that and can potentially cause o-ring failure. anti-seize is designed to prevent metal surfaces from bonding together it is NOT a lubricant for moving surfaces.
    Now that being said I thought it was a very good video with LOTS of useful info.

    I bought my pump from amazon, my washer took this pump -Whirlpool 25001052 Pump Assembly for Washer- was about $70. Be sure to do some checking and make sure you're getting the right part, there are some differences depending on options that your washer has.

    Very little slop and no sign of wear, but when I pulled out the shaft there was a very strange layer of stuff on a lot of the walls that are outside of the pump housing.. It's almost like a very thin layer of dried putty.
    Any idea what that might be??? And would it have affected the working of the pump? Oh, and there was also water.

      WP25001052 is the part number, that is the motor and white plastic housing. I think full price on those is about $130 but you can find them for less (around $80) by searching online.

    My first time using a front load washer. A used one . I don't have an overflow of water in the drum, but after washing and taking my clothes out, I will spin the drum and I hear water inside the drum but it's not visible. Is this normal?

    • @knucklhedbbq
      @knucklhedbbq  10 місяців тому

      Yeah, pretty typical to have a little water still in there, for that reason, most folks will leave the door slightly open to allow it to air out. If I remember correctly, at start up, the machine briefly does a very short drain cycle to pump out any excess water before starting a new cycle.

    My Maytag drain pump connector is different than what's in your video. 2 separate connectors that slide in side by side, one white wire and one black. Add to that the connectors for my replacement are on the other side of the drain pump than the original. I've got the drain pump installed, but I've been searching the internet to verify that these wire are connected properly before I light it up. Any thoughts?

    I just put a new pump assembly in and now I get a nd code.. not draining. Maybe a defective part? Everything is hooked back up correctly. I did the spin cycle and still no draining, I did a normal cycle, still no drain. I turned it off and did a restart, still nothing. I unplugged it and let it sit with no power for approx 10 min, plugged back in and still no drain. Anything else I can try? Thanks.

      Since the new pump did not fix drain problem (wife thinks it was an inlet valve or timer problem) you have to slam the door to shut it, it has mold on the door gasket that won't come off, I think it's time to get a new basic front load washing machine. Yep, I've been beaten.
      Great advice on the wet vac, btw.

    Will a faulty drain pump keep the washer from spinning?

    • @ryangarnache6777
      @ryangarnache6777 4 роки тому

      In a way, yes - but there are other things that could cause that.
      If the pump isn't working, the washer will still be full of water, and therefore won't go into it's spin cycle...
      Run a cycle and watch it closely, wait for it to go into it's drain cycle and gently lift the drain hose out of the wall drain. Is there a significant amount of water being pumped out or is it just a trickle? Does the pump sound rough/noisy? You should be able to trouble shoot it a bit further to determine if the pump is working properly or not. Also, it's not terribly difficult to remove the drain pump, if you're unable to determine good/bad through trouble shooting, you might want to just pull the pump and check it out.

  • @bjarnieinarsson3472
    @bjarnieinarsson3472 2 роки тому +1

    Aaarrggg.. you don't want to seal this pump up. If you do, it will not be able to cool itself and bearings (plastic one) will melt and wobble i.e. stop working!

  • @mikevr29

    Hi, i replaced the water pump in my Maytag Neptune and it still does not drain. I was able to test everything else in "Service Mode" the only thing that does not work in pumping the water out. when i test it it seems like no electricity is getting to it, however everything else in the circuitboard seems ok. any suggestions?

    • @ryangarnache6777
      @ryangarnache6777 6 років тому

      Mike Valverde - I'm not a service tech, but since its the only function that isn't working, I would trace the wires from the pump back to the circuit board to see if any have rubbed somewhere and worn through the insulation and grounded out. It's also possible that one of the wires came unplugged at the board... If you find a cause or a solution please post here so others might benefit! Best wishes!
