i just bought this game,really love those features that i have never seen in other games like faking death,faking surrender,taunting with a friend.I was looking for a co op game which i could play with my brother at home and i am lucky to find this game.Great game,must buy.
This game was awesome! So sad the 3rd one took out all the morality choices, and co-op specific things like sniping at same time and mock surrenders....hopefully the 4th one brings it back
play co-op with your friends, invite them over or take the system to their house and play split screen all night 😎 it was way more fun playing video games back in the the day

I was thinking of getting this game so I played the demo (which took 3 hrs to download) anyways after playing the demo I REALLY wanted to get it Should I still get it after this review?
@Curevicc .44 and .357 Mag are calibers, not handguns. They're popular with recreational shooters and hunters. 9mm Luger, .40 S&W and .45 ACP are popular handgun rounds for military and law enforcement. The .44 Mag is rarely, if ever, used in combat.

By the time the demo came out, the game is pretty much done and/or already in packaging and shipping stage.
I see what they mean about the secondary. They had a much wider selection of secondaries in the first but here they give you a whole lot more of customization.
you can use 2 assault rifles but you have to use your special weapon slot. in weapons customization screen choose your primary and press A. Then choose your second assault rifle and hit X to equip to special slot.
Just for fun or if you run out of ammo or something. You can have to assault rifles it just gets placed in your special weapon slot where your sniper rifle or rpg goes. You can put any primary weapon in your special weapons slot.

Yes it has.You can make different choices which are effecting the story,there are collectibles to collect and weapon parts.This is a great game,you should get it!
Not sure if people still play, but if you havvent played this game, you must. Its hands down the best in the series and you can find it cheap now. Dont bother with the third one.
@damon3011 That's serious overkill right there. Two assault rifles aren't necessary, it's better to have the pistol and sniper in its place. It's also more practical and realistic to carry three firearm types with different uses than one firearm type with a single use.
@SimonLaRocca what ign left out the game is like 6 or 7 hours long but there is alot of replay value and the you can use two assault weapons if you look at 1:43 you can see a slot that says special u switch your sniper rifle with a assault rifle but there are only three pistols but the desert eagle is good and there is a mode called extraction thats similar to gears of war horde mode but the weapons you get are not customizable like the campaign but its still fun
I bet they only gave you a larger gun as a primary and a pistol as a secondary so that it focuses more on making your own ideal weapon, the huge amount of customisation wasn't put in his game for no reason.
the game reviewer says you cant have a assault rifle as a secondary... but i dont think hes taken into account that you can set an assault rifle in the special slot (as opposed to a sniper rifle or rocket launcher). it makes sense, one gun front, one gun back and a sidearm on your leg... can hardly slam a AK47 into a pistol holster now can you! would like to have seen more pistol variety tho
This guy obviously doesn't know that you CAN use two machine guns, just select your primary, then select any other gun for you special to replace the sniper
The Wii does have some very fun and good hardcore games, Scarface, Godfather, Okami, Resident Evil 4, Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros Brawl and Madworld. Madworld is a good game, and what I ment before is the only way you cannot like Madworld is if you're a small child or can't handle mature content. The Wii doesn't only sell for motion controls, I bought mine because I like the genre of games when I get bored of my 360. I agree they've done better but it's good console.
I reckon if this was released back in 2006, it would've made more sense for a game with this standard. Today its just outdated, but back then it would've been understandble.
Did you play the game already or are you judging by the demo? And you'd be very surprised with how many guns can shoot bullets right through a vest. A vest can typically only stop weaker guns and at best, just slow down (lessening the impact) high-powered gun fire.
Only reason Wii does less is because it focuses so much on movement sensitive games that all the available memory is gone and they have to resort to the best graphics they can, which suck.
@EddieChute That's completely opinionated. IGN wasn't the only source to give ODST and MW2 very high ratings--the majority of all rating sources gave those two exceptional scores.
@TheMegaPrimus Ok, he didn't pay attention to the two assault rifles ability in "special", but in my opinion he is one of my favourite editors. and the pistols are weak, I very frequently have to unload a full clip to down an enemy. There are also other glitches that I agree, and 8.5 is a good score.

I'd recommend you play the first game. I don't own 40th day, but I don't think the events are in order. Like in the first, they both join the Army and become mercenaries later on. If they go through that in this game, you don't need to play the first at all.
The only problem I had with this game was the change of voice acting and the use of the same scenery over and over at the end. Other than that, I loved it.
8.5 because of "Timid A.I." and "weak Pistols" sounds a bit harsh. IGN didn't blink when you did not have a Deagle (a pistol that is not weak) at low levels.

Possible Spoilers: I disagree about the story. IMO, the game doesn't do a very good job at providing you details about what's going on. I was left clueless about alot of things thinking they would be explained at the end and they weren't. I would have actually preferred if they had continued the plot of the first game in dealing with corruption of government and military and brought back more old characters. Because they didn't I considered 40th day to be a different game then an actual sequel.
I wasn't talking about this game, I pointing out that GoW didn't invent the mechanic. In fact there's very little in Gears of War which is innovative, it's just got really demanding graphics. Not that GoW is a bad game by any stretch of the imagination but it most certainly didn't invent the wheel. It's just the first game a bunch of the new generation of gamers played of it's type.
The game has excellent graphics... The environments are very atmospheric. Though the texture work in them are kinda dull, but the character models kick ass too. I think 8.5 is the perfect score for this game. I actually prefer this game over Gears of War 2, no joke. Though obviously I recognize gears 2 as a more technically impressive and progressive game.
Get this. Bioshock looses it's charm after you beat it for the first time and it's pretty short too. This game, while not the longest can be played again, and again, and again. The multilayer is also pretty awesome.

Why does everyone criticize this game for being too short, call of duty had a short campaign and yet no one really complained about it. you have to consider other aspects of the game such as multiplayer and upgrading gun and co-op, not just say it sucks because it's too sort. But then again I haven't actually played the game yet so I'm not to sure if there is anything else that might be wrong with the game. so far from what I hear it doesn't sound too bad, just a little glitchy.
What's with all the negative reviews? If Gear Of War gets a 9 rating then this clearly should be a 9 raings as well. I thought this game was tons of fun. It's a shooting game, what more do you people want, it's a great shooting game? I give this an 8.7/10
Uhm you can switch between an assualt rifle and smg havent tryed with another assualt rifle. But then you loss your sniper. all you have to do is go to the weapon that u want and press square or x.
@roms3 It's not that long, but I really recommend playing with a friend as playing by yourself isn't as interesting. It's still an awesome game though.

They ruined Army of Two with Devil's Cartel. The best part of Army of Two wasn't the story, the graphics...Hell, probably not even the gameplay. The main appeal was Salem and Rios. A game about two bros that would do anything for eachother, kick ass, and make a witty comment to eachother afterwards. Unless they bring Salem and Rios as the mains in any future game, I will not be purchasing.

just completed it with a friend. i really enjoyed it, took over 20 hours to finish and some levels you have to work as a team to get through it

the customization's isn't as good as the second one aswell feels like some other team made it instead of the original developers.

@MegaBiggy1234 it has a survival mode called extraction, you unlocking by completing the campaign. although there is very few people online.

I don't see the problem. Pistols make perfect sense as a side arm. In fact, side arm by definition implies a pistol.
You can use any other gun except secondaries as a special weapon.

You can actually set you special weapon to another assault rifle if you want.
The moment I heard him say "You only get pistols-" I knew it'd be a - on their little chart.

Very nice. Me and my friend had a lot of fun with the first...but this one looks like a big improvement.
8.5 is a damn good score. I thought it was going to get a 6.5 or a 7. The game is really fun and I hope they make another sequel.
