I would just add a couple of comments. Before compressing the caliper piston the brake fluid reservoir cap should be removed and some paper put around it in case it overflows, also before the new rotor is put in place the hub mating surface should be cleaned with a wire brush, its something that often doesn't get a mention.

This video was accurate to my 2018 Xc60. Rotors are 322mm in case you’re wondering. Great video for front brake replacement. Not happy in replacing at 18k miles for a lease. But oh well. Paid at Volvo: $125 pads set $140 rotor each
For info, having just done my brakes, an XC60 2015 UK model has single piston, with an 11mm hex needed to remove the brake assembly. Thanks for the video, helped a lot.
The 18 mm bolts don't use any Loctite? How come you did not apply any grease on the caliper surface where the pads slide? I am going to try doing the brakes (First time ever) on my Volvo XC90 front & rear thx for video.
I do not. I just go by feel on the calipers and then take a breaker bar to the brake bracket bolts....usually the same force on the reinstall as it is when you unbolt.
Another amateur brake job. #1. both the caliper bolts and sliding pins have specific torque values. But you didn't use a torque wrench and likely don't know the proper torque specs. #2.typically blue Loctite should be applied to the caliper bolts. #3.Before installing the new disc the wheel hub face should be wire brushed clean and a light coating of anti seize applied. #4. the caliper should always be secured with a bungee cord or wire hanger to prevent strain on the brake hose. John, here are the torque specs for a S/V60: Front. Sliding pin bolts-28NM. Caliper bolts-200NM Rear. Sliding pin bolts-35N. Caliper bolts-110NM Regards, Peter Weissman
I have a 16’ XC60 I tried the 7mm hexagon but It’s too small. Tried the 8mm still small. There isn’t a 9mm I believe I looked everywhere. I’m stuck! Help!
New's flash ....Do not use a hammer on the rotor's to loosen them this will put dent's in your rotor and ruin them if whacked to hard with a hammer..... guess i am the only one who noticed this......
Did you miss the part where he installed a brand new rotor.... the one that he sprayed brake cleaner all over for 5 secs in this video because it was covered in packing grease, or was that just me?
All my cars are MB’s but still good info for the novice Volvo owner.
Thank you!
All my cars are Bentley's but good info for poor Mercedes owners.

Hardly any newer volvo DIY videos, very helpful.
Funny you mentioned that! I have one coming tomorrow! What year and make is yours?

Fantastic car!! Under the skin all Volvo's are the same. So glad to be of help

Pleasure! Glad it went smoothly
11mm is very odd! it was hard to find where i live!
Great video. Had to laugh when I had the same problem of the wrong pads here in the UK.
Good demo
I'm hoping that you had a jack stand holding the car up and NOT just the hydraulic jack. Any lubricant, antiseize? You from Jersey, too? What exit?
HE MEANT T-50 BIT FOR ROTOR, NOT T-15!!!!

Thanks for the video. Good work.
Thank you!
You did not talk to compressing the caliper piston or bleeding when done. Why were those steps omitted? Not required on a Volvo?
Thank you so much for making simple and easy to follow DIY videos. By the way, do you know what are the torque specs?
I do not. I just go by feel on the calipers and then take a breaker bar to the brake bracket bolts....usually the same force on the reinstall as it is when you unbolt.
thank you for your support!
Did you not open the brake master cylinder?
Great video
Presumably there are torque settings for those bolts? Don't drive it if you haven't torqued up the bolts/ nuts according to spec.
No brake grease?

Looks like some Volvos in the US use an 11mm hex. Mine did.
Try 7/16 or 11mm. It perfectly fits.
Torque specs?
I didn't see you open the cap on brake fluid, you don't use a c clamp on piston cause you could damage it
Totally agree, what kinda n00b puts a c-clamp directly on the piston?
My front calipers ain’t fastened by 7mm , but looks like 12mm
Mine was a 10 slightly loose but it came out ok. Probably an 11. 2017

Lol
you did a half way job , because you dint grease the brake pins neither used the brake compresion tool
Pity about the music.
Kill the effin music man.
The music is horrible and loud , ruined the video !
Mistake #1. Use Volvo parts. Lots of good aftermarket parts but the original is far superior.
