    Thank for this, just did my new to me 2008 Volvo XC70, and it was 98% exactly as you had it. Thank you for the nuances on how you do each of the sections, and I used the LiquiMoly 0W40 high mileage kit from FCP. Keep it up!

    I'm going to give this a go on my 2017 D4 in the next few weeks. Thanks for this, given zero experience, this video should prove very very useful, and save me some money.

    Thanks for the detailed video, although, I wish you would include the springs in the kit on the website. Watching this right before getting ready to start my work and realizing there are not new springs in my kit. I'll likely just keep the old, but I would have happily paid more for new ones... in the kit.

    Very informative video as a 15 V60 owner that needs new brakes. How do you determine the size of the rotors?

  • @ulrichvonmonchengladbach9482

    Thanks for the epic tutorial! It works

    I'd add the suggestion that you should lightly pump your brakes a few times once the car is on the ground, and go through the process of bedding the brakes.

    This looks nothing like my 300mm break package on my 2015 s60 has a totally different looking caliper. Also that spring loaded clip is different and I have no idea how to put it back in.

    is this the same for the 2021 volvo xc90 t6? except for the front caliper spring...? and any toque spec on the rotor bolt t50?

    My alignment pins need something greater than a 7mm wrench. A 10mm isn’t big enough. Any idea if there was more than one type of alignment pin used? My car is a 2017 V90 Cross Country (air suspension, if that would make any difference).

    Does this apply to a 2021 Volvo XC60 SPA platform? From what I read, the P3 platform ended in 2018, and was upgraded to the SPA platform from 2018 forward. Thank you!

    On my 2014 XC60 T6 the guide pins on the front calipers take a 9mm allen, NOT a 7 mm allen. Guess which allen wrench not of my tool sets has......

    Why did you replace the anti rattle clip with a new one? Regarding the sliders, ATE recommends leaving the sliders dry, but probably doesn't hurt.

    • @fcpeuro
      @fcpeuro  Рік тому

      Hi Glenn, the clips are mainly cosmetic, and the lube on sliders is certainly a dealers choice!

    What could cause a low pedal ie pedal is firm as normal but goes low enough that it is easy to press the accelerator and brake at the same time.
    All pads front and rear were replaced by a shop when I was trying to have others do my work - never again.

      Hi Raymond, while the parts will be a bit different, the process is still roughly the same.

    Good video until you compressed the piston into the caliper. The fluid in the piston is old and probably nasty from so many heat cycles and not a good idea to push it back up into the system. If the pads are nearly worn out it could mean that a lot of fluid is going into some expensive parts ie. antilock brake distribution block ect.. The best thing to do is open the bleeder screw and drain out the old fluid then refill the brake fluid reservoir. Other than that it was a good video. Even if you are working on an older vehicle that doesn't have antilock brakes you can ruin a master cylinder really fast. Ask me how I know.😬

    • @nickdolan199

      This procedure was done properly. There is a reason manufacturers typically have a fluid change interval for brake fluid.

    • @thatsonebadhatharry8610
      @thatsonebadhatharry8610 11 місяців тому

      @@nickdolan199 So your saying that the fluid in the calipers doesn't get bad during the brake fluid interchange intervals. And how many people actually do a fluid change when their putting their own brake pads on. It's just a cheap way to insure that you won't pollute the expensive brake system parts if the brake fluid is not changed at the recommended factory intervals.

    • @nickdolan199
      @nickdolan199 11 місяців тому +2

      @@thatsonebadhatharry8610 I'm saying the biggest detriment to break fluid is actually humidity from the air. The brake fluid is designed for the high operating temperatures of our braking systems. The area most likely to cause brake fluid contamination is at the master cylinder reservoir. Unnecessarily opening the system, draining and adding fluid during a brake change under the assumption other regular maintenance is being ignored isn't the proper way to maintain the system. It increases the likelihood of contamination and introduces the possibility of an error causing air to be introduced as well.
