LOL So don't be intimidated by the spreadsheet - my day job is in QA and I LOVE data so I can get a little overboard, but I promise I tried to only include info that you would want to see. That being said, since this was filmed, I also added a hybrid 3rd sheet option if you want both a yard and gram combo. For the skeins in/grams in column, you don't have to fill this out, but if you fill out the 'date obtained' column, in the 'totals' bar, you'll see how much yarn you got within a 30 day period. As a fellow data nerd, it was really fun to see you go through your stash numbers! I did the same a few months ago, there's nothing quite like that initial realization moment when you quantify how much yarn you actually own, it's like there's no more escaping the fact that we do, in fact, have a ton of yarn 💀

Love this! I saw the spreadsheet option and I might use it later this year. I usually need to write things down on paper (it makes it more real, somehow) so I decided to catalog my indie hand dyed yarn in my maker's notebook. I, too, have other random skeins and acrylic yarn and such that I haven't written down yet but perhaps I'll do it later. Thank you for sharing your experience cataloging your yarn!

Okay, I might have to do this spreadsheet. I used to have everything recorded on Ravelry, but I've been trying to use it less because of their accessibility issues. I have another database I was using on Airtable, but Ashley's sounds more like what I'm looking for...

That's great! I still barely remember to update ravelry when I finish projects, so Ashley's spreadsheet fit with my needs a lot better.
