The new Elgato Facecam 4k has been released! Most of the points I show in this video will also stand for the 4k version. Once I get my hands on one, I will do a review. I am excited to see the image quality on this new release!
Can’t find the 4k anywhere. Have the normal facecam now and the Sony zv1f. Facecam has great background blurring, but it gets grainy in low light (noise) and is only 1080P which can limit edit capabilities. I don’t like how it will require me to open the cam link software at times. I wish I could just keep the settings in the facecam itself.
Hi, I have been using the facecam for about a year now. It’s the best purchase that I have ever made. It’s plug and play and with “some” to tinkering you can make it look great. That said, I am still looking for an entry level dslr camera. The main downside (other then the image quality because of the smaller sensor) is the Camera Hub software. I think Elgato try always too hard. It’s cool to have all the settings including background changing and blur but that that makes the software unstable. I found myself countless times having to close and re-open the software because it crashes and it doesn’t show the camera anymore. I have given up now. I have saved my settings on the camera (except for background) and I leave the Camera hub software closed.
I haven't had any issues with the software unless I update my video drives and don't reboot. Then the software crashes. I would check for firmware updates and see what happens!
I currently have three cameras setup to evaluate for a client, the Elgato face cam, The Elgato Facecam Pro, and a Sony A6000 mirrorless. I have to say that I want to be able to tell my client they don't have to spend the money on a mirrorless camera, but the difference is substantial when you take the quality of the Bokeh into account for a more high end look. The Facecam Pro is better than the Facecam, however, you are into it for $325 and you don't have the depth of field. If you don't care about DOF, then any of the above would work just fine.
The only problem i have with the facecam is the color accuracy. It seems to give my face a reddish tint. Im wondering if the facecam pro will have better color accuracy.
@@behindtheframemedia i have ceiling light is a bright daylight bulb and i have an elgato ring light thats also on daylighy. On my sony a6400 the color and lighting looks great. Its only on the facecam my skin is red and messing with the settings didnt really help much.
This was a very helpful video; thank you! I prefer the image quality of the DSLR, but the hassle and bulk of setting it up each time has me leaning toward the Facecam Pro. 🙌
I had the Elgato Facecam, and I think the Avermedia PW513 was a much better webcam, I noticed crazy color shifts on the Facecam but I decided in the end to grab a used Sony A5100 and it is better than any webcam
I'd love to see a vid of how you setup your sl2 for streaming. I'm a noob with cameras but I run the same setup. Haven't quite figured out how to improve my image quality for streaming and videos. Nice vid!
The EOS software has way too much lag and I'm using a Canon R6 for content. I'm thinking of using the Facecam and or the Insta360 Link for this reason. I'd rather have peace of mind that the craziest quality ever lol
Ayo, I didn't know you were out here making these crispy UA-cam videos as well! The Elgato Facecam does look so crispy on stream, you make a great presentation in this video.
Bruh. I bought my Canon EOS-R for $2300 for photography and I HATE using it for streaming. I just figured it would be easier than buying a whole new webcam. But tbh, it just makes me less inclined to shoot content outside the house. It's a whole chore to re-configure my camera for streaming & shooting elsewhere. I wasn't sure where to start with webcams. But this one looks nice. Elgato products have always served me well.
While ultimately this is the best webcam I've seen so far it's still not there yet. The premium phone cams, even a couple generations out, give you a better picture. I'm also an event streamer where I use primarily PTZ cams. On the rare occasions where I stream myself, I tend to set up a couple of those through a ATEM. Just because I have them.
I've ordered one of these cams. I just wasn't very impressed with the Logitech C922(?). I have a good external mic so I don't need that, which the facecam does not provide. I have a nice mirrorless camera but it's a hassle to set it up to record. Although, I'd be using it as a secondary camera to show the art that I'm working on. At least, that's the idea, lol. Nice review.
I went from a dslr to a facecam but loorddd it's so glitchy! I've tried almost everything and everytime I want to stream and play a game it just glitches and doesn't work. Any tips?
Hi bro, the facecam I have has issues with iso after cable unplug or restart, the iso displayed is extremely overexposed despite all the settings saved to the hardware and numbers are correctly displayed in the hub. I am finding I have to adjust the iso after each unplug to bring back the settings. This is the second brand new facecam exhibiting the same issue which can be replicated on multiple pcs and the software is up to date. Did you experience this issue?
wow... i was just looking into dslr / mirrorless to try and get a better vlog camera..... my osmo action has horrible white balance / brightness issues so my footage the last time i tried it was unusable. this sounds awesome. i can barely wait for the facecam pro! 4k
DSLR in the video looks way better than Facecam. Facecam looks a little bit better than typical webcam, but in that case, I think using phone as webcam would look much better and probably cheaper (Camo or Droidcam or Epocam)
I am sure it is, I can't wait to try it although 4k in a webcam isn't all that necessary. Especially when it is shrunk into a corner. Although I would love to see the sensor dfferences!
I don’t really think this is a fair comparison. 99% of users using a dslr camera as a webcam won’t use the integrated software to run into obs/whatever. With a cam link or capture card of some sort will always get a better look, more clarity, more adjustability and be more future proof. Granted the price difference is still huge, but if you’re even in the market and can consider a dslr in the first place then the webcam shouldn’t be an option
@@behindtheframemedia you couldn't have known. I keep up with all of that tech and I only started seeing it yesterday. Also maybe you can talk to elgato and ask to exchange

I got the mic wave 3 with web cam 1080 p for 210 bucks. Is that a good deal or not? Should u have splurged for 4K or Logitech brio
Even at high light setting, it got too much noise!!
@@JoonKimDMD I disagree, double check your settings and make sure the ISO didn't jump way up.
