Worked there the summer of 85 as the ride supervisor. And lived on the grounds that summer. Best summer I can remember. Mrs. Hughes would be ok with the Friday night kegs after we closed. This video made me buy a P3S. THANKS for taking the time.

My Grandpa belonged to a club called the 13th ward that held picnics there every summer. This was late 90's early 2000's. Eventually we started going up on our own. The park was all but deserted and you could tell even then it was on its last legs.

I saw the Cyclone through the trees on the way to the race track. It's weird how successful the race track is and how the park is abandoned.

It came down to the owner's priority. The owner invested heavily in the highly profitable speedway and gave little attention to the far less profitable park. The result was a speedway producing large crowds and a park practically abandoned. Instead of putting more assets into the park he cut his assets and followed the money.

@@randomtraveler9854 It's a shame. Even as a dirt track racing fan. This might be controversial among the dirt racing community, but I was very underwhelmed by the races the track gave.

@@heheheiamasupahflyingace3921 I don't think I was ever at the track and if I was it was when I was young. That being said the park should have been sold to someone who wanted to keep it open. Or at least leased.

@@randomtraveler9854 They tried to sell it but there were no buyers. I wonder if someone offered enough money now they would sell it.

@@alllostfootage Maybe but the problem is it's not an amusement park anymore, everything was either sold or is rotten to the point where total demolition would be the only option. And with that trailer park and creek there what alternative use could there be?
