Hi,great video I like all old tools and the stories behind them and the people who worked with them. My father in-law and his brothers were old timber workers in th forests in Australia. They owned bullock teams and had a blacksmith shop. When they passed away my wife and I saved alot of their everyday tools and put them in our outdoor kitchen area. We have many great nights explaining to our friends what they were used for and how they used them. Thanks for sharing, I have made a few donkey's and they do put smiles on kids and adults faces Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Wishing you a speedy recovery from all the medical issues...that's a lot at one time!! FYI, the first spade like item you showed is called a "running iron". As you mentioned, they were used to change a livestock brand. They came in all sizes and shapes...some rods, some blades like yours, others shaped like parts of letters or symbols.
I love old tools too! But I was also wondering if you’d make a video about how you made those fish and lily pad and other sculptures around your anvil stand. I’d love to see that. I’m glad you’re on the mend. Sending you the best.
Welcome back, you've been missed. I also seem to be accumulating old tools, and sometimes the stories that go with them, and the stories are often more interesting than the tools.
Glad to see you back dude, love your work. can't wait to see what you have coming up! I have many many 100+ year old tools love it almost as much as your forging.
Your ribbon burner would be a great subject, and I believe you can show a blueprint as to how to build would be of interest to myself and others. I'm building my ribbon burner ( the hard way). Now believe I should have just copied something easier. I'm sick of not having my forge working....but I'm now insulating so getting closer. Your respect for tools comes from respect to working class,Me too! Thanks
