When you play soccer (football) a lot, you begin to realize how difficult it can be to get a proper touch on the ball. The way he's able to do the lightest little flick, the hardest bullet, the most aggressive curving shots all on command is just unmatched. The fact he can do this all from a dead ball free kick OR in a full sprint with 3 defenders on him is out of this world. He just plays with the utmost efficiency and nearly perfect accuracy.
I've always been a huge fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, and there was a point I think you could argue he was a better "pure scorer." Maybe someone else on this Earth was better at free kicks... someone else might be slightly faster or a better dribbler... but there is absolutely nobody on this planet who can do all of these things at such a high level, so consistently, and under so much pressure. He is truly from another planet, what a treat to be able to watch him play. If there is a larger than life moment, Leo Messi WILL rise to the occasion, seemingly every single time.
edit: You asked "How is that not offsides?" at 12:35 - You see when the ball is passed to Messi there is still a defender further back towards the goal than he is, if you were to draw lines directly straight across the field. He was just so much faster and it was a great pass, he got to the ball first. This is the key to a good run, timing it perfectly so the moment when the ball is passed you are not behind the defender.

That's the thing with him. He makes really hard little things on a normal basis. Each of his runs, any top player would lose control before completing them, and the more you make the harder the next one becomes.

He just runs past players with ease. The top defenders in the world without doing any tricks or anything. His control, balance and positional awareness are paranormal.
When he gets in to the box he never misses. He doesn't just blast to beat the keeper he can just strokes it into where the space is. With either foot.
He's a freak of nature. His football IQ is ridiculous. He is as comfortable at full pace as he is standing still.
    What a player

He's underrated if anything.. Nobody talkes about how he destroyed the normal scale of scoring 1 pr. match, nobody talks about he normalized and popularized lobs or how most coaches considered dribbling more than 1 person egotistical.. Right now we're just enjoying him, but no doubt football has forever changed and his impact is beyond measure right now.. We'll be studying him for years to come and I seriously doubt we will ever see such a talent again.. You forget how many talented youngsters tried and failed do to injury, loss of confidence and earthly distractions..

the funny part is that he isn't the best at anything, he is just exceptional all around. He isn't the fastest, the tallest, the strongest, or the most durable, but he is soooooo well rounded, and put all of that in such good combination, that he exceeds everyone. Perhaps his only true super-power is his level-headedness, one of the most, if not the most calm and centered players, inside and outside the field.

Great video and reaction! The things Leo's able to do are just unbelievable! Young and long haired Messi are my favourite versions of him, just pure explosive talent and fearlessness. Surely the most agile player ever. He ran head on towards anyone at full speed. No-one in history could stop him when he played like this (although that's the case for his whole career😂).
Love to see reactions to vids like: 'the young lionel messi vs great players'; 'the young lionel messi goals, skills and assists 03-08'; there's a great series of vids titled 'Lionel Messi Ultimate Dribbling Skills' from 2004-2005 (and ones with similar names for 07-08) and each season, all the way to 2012 or so (it'd be a long series of reactions, but it's great to see how he uses his natural talent to even deadlier effect as the years go on); 'lionel messi 10 goals that were too good for his age' and 'when 20 year old leo broke every dribbling record'. Among others that have been suggested in this comment section!
There's an amazing channel called Raheem Comps that has loads of games when he was younger up until now. Mainly focusing on his early career. They're also great to watch in your spare time as well.
    All the best!

Imagine a basketball player comes into the NBA with handles so good he is breaking ankles and making people look silly with nothing but subtle, quick changes of direction EVERY SINGLE TIME he gets the ball, every game, for over a decade. No NBA player like that has ever existed. It would change the way you think about basketball, it would make people train differently to try to emulate that level. But they still wouldn't come close. That's Messi in football. It's hard to put into context what he is able to do to high level professional players, because other sports don't have a similar example.

  • @redeyegooner
    @redeyegooner 10 місяців тому +16

As well as his unmatched skill, game intelligence, vision and balance, Messi's strides are shorter than the players around him, which gives him more opportunities to touch the ball and change direction. This makes the other players look like they're playing in slow motion compared to Messi.
Maradona was also great and would be a good reaction subject. 🌍⭐

With offside its best to see it or play - its sort of the same as a down in Football in that the players have to all start behind the ball - they arent allowed to just have a player hanging in near the touchdown zone before the phase of play - in soccer the ball is always live so that phase can start anywhere

Probably one of the reasons he scores so many of these goals is like you said, aiming for the tiniest bit of space next to the keeper in the side they don’t expect him to shoot. He can hit it to perfection and the keeper doesn’t react quick enough because they’re ready to dive towards the side where there’s more space, where any other player would opt to aim for.

I highly recommend you to react to four of the most underrated Messi videos, imo:
    1. "Messi vs No Space - HD"
    2. "Messi vs No Space - New Edition - HD"
    3. "Lionel Messi - Close Control Dribbling - No Space"
    4. "Messi vs Physics".
These are 4 of the best videos imo to show you in detail some of the most unexplainable and outstanding "alien" things that Messi has been doing constantly in almost every single match during all these 18 years in a football pitch, but aren't showed so much in many highlight videos, at least compared to the goals and all that.
This is why he's without a doubt the best player ever, for me.

The reason Messi seems to aim for the very accute angle next to the keeper is because he waits until the goalkeeper is off balanced.. The keeper needs to shift all his weight onto onside before he dives. Therefore he can only really go in one direction. Messi has mastered the art of timing. And he litterally rolls the ball past the keeper who has no way of countering. Messi might be the greatest footballer of all time.. His trophy cabinet is one of the greatest..
    I love your videos btw.

Man you got me craving a modelo at 7 in the morning, great video man 🔥. Also about offsides if you look closely on the side lines there’s always a referee running along side the defense line making sure there’s no offsides. An example let’s say “+” is team A and “|“is team B and the “•” being the ball if there’s a player on team A across the defenders being team B as shown below and the player on A attends to pass the ball to the player that’s over the defense line than that will be considered offsides. I hope this makes some sense lmao.

Aiming in the smaller gaps does have its reasons. When the play is very fast and/or striking distance is close, the goalkeeper has a limited amount of time to prepare, thus sometimes less precise shot can be more accurate due to better timing.

Nice videos! definitely enjoying the content! Reason why they didn't "call that" was whats known as an "advantage". It's the rule that gives the referee the opportunity to play on with the game if the team has an opportunity to score or create a chance, without blowing for foul. The referee blows the whistle for the foul at his own discretion if it gives the player a better chance to score.

Its all about the angle and force u kick the ball, the energy all goes into the rotation, and as soon as the ball hits something it will accelerate, which is why it looks like the ball speeds up so fast after they touch it with their head. If nothing touches the ball it will curve.

12:40 its not off side because there is still a defender in front of him doesnt matter left or right just in front. look at 12:36 and stop it there, youll see that when the ball was passed number 12 was in front of messi.
The moment the ball is passed if you are in front of all the defenders its off side so you cant just stand at the other goal and wait. So what you want to do is start your run in an on side position (defenders in front) so you can get past the defenders when the ball reaches you.(btw not sides theres no plural)

Offside: the moment the pass happens, see which attackers are ahead of the last defender. If one of those attackers receives the pass, it's offside. If the play wasn't offside it's because there was a defender closer to the goal than Messi when the pass happened. He could have sprinted past the defender and received the pass and it still wouldn't be offside. What matters is where he was when his teammate passed the ball, not when he received it.

Offside Rule: The attacking player (the most forward man in the team) must be level with or in front of the LAST defender - he cannot be behind the defender. This rule is designed to stop goal hanging.
How do they establish that he was level or in front of the defender? When the ball is passed to the attacking player, the moment the passer makes contact with the ball for the pass, that’s when the linesman (the guy who runs along the side of the pitch boundary with a little flag) checks to see if the attacker is behind the defender or not.
If the flag goes up, it means the attacker was already behind the defender at the moment the passer kicked the ball to him and so it’s offside

    RE OFFSIDES.
Imagine a line across the field across in the same orientation as the center line. This imaginary line will always stay glued to the defender closest to their goalkeeper (the last one). There are a couple things that determine if a player is offside or not.
    1. If the attacking player is across the line (between last defender and keeper) BEFORE an attackers teammate kicks the ball for a pass, than an offside will be called on the attacker receiving the pass when that attacker plays the ball (any sort of touch).
    - EXCEPTION: If the attacker who is offside in this case is reasonably far away from the ball, they can choose to not play the ball. They also can not make an indication that they are going to play the ball and then not play it. Essentially if the attacker stands still, than an offside wont be called as it wouldn't have made a difference in the flow of the game whether the attacker is onside or offside.
-EXCEPTION TO THE EXCEPTION: If the attacker is far away from where the ball is kicked to (by the attackers team) and starts running towards it, indicating an intent to play the ball, an offside will be called even if the ball isn't played by the attacker. The defense will react differently to the attacker going for the ball vs not going for it, thus influencing the flow of the game.
    2. If the attacking player is behind the line (on side) and a pass is made, the attacker can run past the last defender to receive the pass and play the ball.
Those are about the only 2 things you need to know to understand it. These rules also apply to throw in's. Substitute passing for throwing.
The thing to remember in football is that passes aren't always directly to someone. It can be similar to how a quarterback will throw the ball with the intention of having the receiver run to a certain spot to catch it.
Also football fans if I messed any of that up let me know. It's been 10 years since I played lol.

"Tackle him, or stab him or something" 😂 thats a definite foul... Now its time to react to Cristiano Ronaldo clips and then tell us who you prefer, messi for me personally. But plenty of people disagree :)
EDIT: Thats the big debate, who is the GOAT. Messi or Ronaldo. Hopefully we get the drunk texan's input 😌

There is no debate. Ronaldo is a spontaneous crazy individualistic genius, but he needs a team to play exactly as he needs; Messi is a more constructive player, much less individualistic than Ronaldo. As a Portuguese, I believe Ronaldo is more of a genius and a complete problem solver on a good day, but Messi is more consistent as a team player (which helps when the team is not playing at its best). You cannot really compare the two styles of play.

@@starmovies4580 Let's agree to disagree. I believe Messi is better working very very tight with the team colleagues, whereas Ronaldo needs them to work for him.

@12.30 the keeper can't see the ball from the wall, only after the ball passes it, so he has less time to react, that's why he doesn't move, it's because he thinks it's not going in.

12:40 messi was not offside because the defender in the white was still further back then him, if messi received the ball when he was past that defender he would then be offside

amazing to think that Messi was born with a growth hormone deficiency. He basically stopped growing about age 8. His family was financing a HGH treatment the cost of which was then taken over by Barca when he went to their academy age 13. Huge talent, a lot of luck too
