@@prismatic9804 Yeah, we are a busy little company and sometimes it's months between when we can put something out. That said- we have recorded a bunch of stuff and if things go well, we should be ramping up these kinds of videos. It's really fun for our staff and a lot of people seems to be interested in seeing the people behind the computer screens.
I ran into a similar parking issue in Taiwan back in the 90s. I had a little banger Homer truck. I am from The South, so I have always had a truck. Over there though, the attitude towards trucks was quite different. I was not allowed to park in most places because trucks were considered strictly works vehicles, not passenger vehicles.
It would be perfect if it was 4 wheel drive, and if that lift was suspension instead of a body lift, I love the look of it, but it's kinda like getting a Tacoma prerunner, looks the part but can't do the good stuff! Awesome looking rig though!
I know this was captured last year, but really good to see that you guys are still having lots of fun despite all the loads of work that came in recently!
I think it was shot in November of last year because I bought it in September. I still drive it but it hasn't replaced the van. The van is a 2 minute walk and this is parked 15 minutes away.
I wish these were for sale in the USA. So many pick-ups are just not all that rugged like they use to be. I bet landscapers would be all over this thing with a dump bed and enough room for the crew.
We use the truck for truck things here in Japan. It's silly having an 8-inch lift on it because loading it isn't convenient. It's still awesome though so it's worth it.
Love these Dyna trucks! I've only ever driven the diesel ones, I had a 1998 LY211 with a 3L 2.8 litre NA diesel, and a 2003 LY230 with a 5L 3.0 litre NA diesel. I've driven my mate's LY235 with a newer 1KZ (or was it the 1KD?) turbo-diesel and I loved the torque of that engine. I wish we had the petrol versions here just so I could try them out.
Bro, that van was probably rigged to be an Overlander van. The extensions under the cabin to reach this height. It is to fit 35-inch tires. Or, alternatively, the so-called Super Single. It is a pity that this one only comes equipped with the 2.0 engine. It's probably due to being in Japan, to pay less tax. Mainly if it is equipped with the 1TR-FPE engine which is dedicated to LPG Usually they come equipped with the 2.8 D4D or the 3.0 td. Diesel .Which also equips the Hilux and the Land cruiser. In that case, you would only need to buy the transfer case and front differential from one of these (and the rest of the miscellaneous). And it would be easy to convert this one to a 4x4 with all original Toyota parts. The only problem is that you would lose some of the turning radius. 3.5 inch strait exhaust, stage2 turbo and intercooler, dpf/egr delete, and a stage1 tune. 200cv and 500n.m easy. ;-D In your case, alternatively, you can place the 4-2-1 collectors. +Supercharger ( low boost 0.3 bar its safe, 0.5 bar max) + intercoller and a tune 150hp to 170hp easy. But the best will be better torque and the consumption is reduced. Basically it is the same kit that equips the lotus elise engine. Only the engine is different, on lotus it is a 2zz. /zr
Love it. I was originally looking for a Kei Truck to add to the Kei Van I imported ('91 Subaru Sambar), but I have fallen for these 4 door, 6 passenger mid-size trucks. Fingers crossed hope to have a Toyoace soon. Great vid.
Funny I was looking for a Sambar DIAS van, after 2 years of looking I came across a 1990 Nissan Atlas 4dr, diesel, 5spd with A/C It checked off all the boxes I was looking for. Very happy with my purchase. Truck went from Japan to Seattle WA to Long Island NY
I own a single cab of this truck manual, I was emailing you 3 months ago about getting me one of these Derreck. I love driving mine everyone looks when you drive I wish I had the crew cab. I have 2 friends who own them one is a 2009 with 100K on the clock and he said to me it’s never ever broken not even once just regular maintenance. The other guy I know has a 2004 with 320k on the clock he snapped an axle because he overloads it but other than that he hasn’t broken it very very tough truck. I hear you can convert these into AWD quite easily
In Japan, I've only seen this car being used by civil engineering construction companies. That's why I never had the idea of using it as a family car. interesting!
Bummer it's only 2WD. I have that exact grill guard, installed it on my 97 Mitsubishi MiniCab Kei truck, I really like your truck's paint color. Cool ride!
Imagine getting a kei truck with a lift and then putting it in the bed of this truck. On second thought, I don't need any more emotional purchases... lol.
Very cool truck, at my house we have the 3.6L 14b non-turbo 4x2 year 2000 diesel version and it's amazing to drive, it's exactly the same as yours except that it does not have electric windows, it is quite hard and its load capacity is more than 2.5 tons, very good torque
I don't think you mentioned what year Dyna this is, but I can't believe how similar it is to my 1991 Toyota Hiace "W" cab 4x4 I imported to PA last year. Mine was a work truck too, but worked "HARD"! It's a diesel and runs great! These are so cool! Thanks for sharing this!
I'd love to be able to import a later model 4WD Hiace but the US has these stupid protectionist regulations that ensure that we can only drive inefficient, polluting, less safe 25+ year old vehicles... ostensibly to force us to drive fuel efficient, non-polluting, safe vehicles. Government - If you don't like our problems, just wait until you see our solutions.
That is as cool as you can get in terms of trucks. You bring this to any meet with raptors and trophy trucks and I bet people are gonna be like flies on shit with this thing.
That's an Isuzu, Daihatsu, Suzuki, Iveco, etc Everyone made these trucks and put their own badge. They are fantastic. I wish I could get one in Canada in left hand drive.

A 4wd version of this is exactly the truck I want. It's too bad we don't have anything like this in the US.
You can buy a 4 door Isuzu NPR and put a pickup bed on it instead of a box. Not sure about 4WD
