What a mind blowing machine. Tom you have such a discerning taste for vintage cars and this one proves it. Congrats on the purchase, be hard to see this one go.
Thank you Tom, I cannot buy these cars but I appreciate the expertise and pure love you have around your cars. Always a great geek out as well - cheers mate.
He felt like the first time I drove my Ferrari 430. Not the same car but I felt just like he felt. If you are ever stress out in life all you need is a short drive in a car like this to forget about all your worries.
Thank You for sharing. What an experience, my brother and I understand you have to leave the potential clients something to chew on, that car is a unicorn! We wanted to hear more revs! We were on the edge of the couch drooling!
What a fabulous car and sold in a few days! Absolutely the right choice to repaint in correct colour. Gt40 P1008 in Linden green when presented with colour matched wheels is my dream car!
This car was actually delivered to us with 2 very special models. A 1:18 with removable wheels and fully functioning features and a very rare 1:12 model of the same period.
Beautiful GT40. The color reminds me of Ford "Gulf Stream Agua". Congratulations on your purchase. A 1960's Ford GT would go well with my 05 and 2019 for the trifecta 😊. Thanks for posting including the fascinating owner history.
An important road car converted to race spec is chassis P1049. This car was purchased by Grady Davis, an executive at Gulf Oil, in 1966. He actually had his car converted to race spec, and had it entered it into the 1967 Daytona 24 under the J.W.A.E team, formerly F.A.V., where it achieved 6th Overall, and was the highest placed Ford vehicle. It would have placed higher, but due to an error where they had left the windscreen heater switch in during conversion, someone bumped it and between that, and the headlamps and other electrical items on, the vehicle was using more amps than the alternator could produce. They thought the battery or alternator was going bad, which was replaced but still had that issue. With the lost time, they figured they could have finished as well as 4th had this not happened. This car would propel the Gulf Oil company to enter endurance racing. The car did not start out int the famous livery we all know and love today, the Daytona and Sebring car ran a dark blue/orange, but would later adapt the sky blue/orange when the Mirage M1 cars began racing).
My ears are bleeding! Tom is a class act. Hard to believe he’s related to Sr and Carl! Only kidding. That was one of the best automotive videos ive seen. Every car tells a story and Tom has such an infectious passion for the story of every car he buys. More content please!
Oh good lord the Mk1 has the prettiest lines and the 289 Hi-Po with the 8 Webbers it sounds incredible. I know the big block is where it's at but as a road car it's more than enough for me.
Love the colors you go with.....everyone always seems to want red. These unique colors such as this and the one on the Daytona you recently published are fabulous.
Hard to beleive something that beautiful and powerful is 55 years old.
...and 55 years before 1963, the Ford T was introduced.
Why? I'm 54.
The GT40 is the best car ever. No questions asked.
I like the format of this video ...a simple walk around stats and historical review then a drive.
Thanks Jeff - we're thinking of doing more of this. Really raw, pure driving, what do you think?
@@TomHartleyJnrLtd I think I need that car
The best smile I have seen in a long while when she fired up Tom. Your face lit up a treat. Bloody fantastic. You made my day with this.
Finally, a video with a start up and a test drive included. That's what we were all waiting for.
We're thinking of doing more Tom Talks like this - what do you think?

That's the most beautiful car I have ever seen. It's futuristic even today. Hard to believe it's slightly older than me.
Unreal! Felt like I was inside the cabin. I had to turn my headphones down....but not too much! And yes, I love the green.
Cannot imagine a more perfect car! Color spot on too !!
The colour really jumps out at unique. Looks almost a contemporary version of a retro look if that makes sense.

That color is Ford paint code Z Grabber Green. Used on some Boss Mustangs and a few Mach I ‘s. Looks so perfect for this GT40.
If I had to choose just one classic car to drive, perhaps this would be the one. Such an icon and so beautifully restored and adore the colour too.

Couldn't agree more!
Great video! What an awesome colour! I didn’t know each panel had the chassis number tag on it! Very interesting
If you Google "Ford Advanced Slough" Ford Co. has a fantastic historical essay on the development of this car.

Another great video. Looks a challenge to get out of!!
Then it's a good job you don't want to get out of it once you're in it!
That’s literally my dream car. Would love just to drive one. Dad was born in 66 so it’s something very close to me
The color is very similar to Aston Martin’s F1 color. Absolutely beautiful.

Great to see it being used :)

It's even better in person!
Seeing these in person is rad. They are so low and tiny. A little bit bigger than a Miata and you sit inches off the ground.

900th Like! Such a uniquely beautiful original Mk1 Ford GT40 road car!!!!
Love the colour. Nice to see one without all the racy graffiti.
One car you never need a radio in.
Tom... Stunning car absolutely gorgeous if you can buy that car add it to your collection extremely rare .😊
A unicorn car. The only GT 40 Mk1 in that color! Nice!
Green IS Gorgeous !!!!!!!!!
Arguably one of the 4 most beautiful cars in history. The other 3 are Ferrari 250 GTO, Mercedes 300 SL Gull Wing and E type Jaguar.
I would add to your list, although not a road car, the Porsche 917.
I shall consider purchasing it.
Magnificent!!!!
One word EPIC
What a car!
I love the color
Yes Tom!!!
That fuel pump is louder than my V6. Sweet.
Looks terrific and sounds great. The Peterson Auto museum has a grey one.

Legendary
Still with a 200 MPH speedometer in 1966
