  • White Oaks was once a ghost town in Lincoln County, New Mexico, United States. Located on the outskirts of the Lincoln National Forest, it became a boomtown in 1879 following the discovery of gold and coal in the nearby Jicarilla Mountains.

The first home on the right is where I used to stay when I went deer hunting when I was younger. Helped build that large metal building in the backyard. Milton Huffmyer's owned it and I guess it was passed on to his kids. Great memories cutting wood and getting the place ready for hunting season.

White oaks brings me so many memories with my father hunting deer as a young boy. I’d like to take my wife back after 35-40 years later. Thank you for this video great footage.👌🏼

My wife, Anne, And I almost visited White Oaks in the late 1990's. Instead of turning North out of Carrizozo we went South to the Alamogordo area. Twenty five years later she has passed away and I am too debilitated to return to New Mexico. I do miss driving in that State.
This is a reminder to do what you want to do while you are young. Wait too long and you will loose the ability to do very much due to age.

Thankyou for this, my great grand Aunt Mary Magdalena Purcell who is of Samoan Descendant, married an American Captain John Lee and they both settled there with the children in White Oaks, NM back in the late 1800s. It's nice to know where they lived and what it looks like from a bird's eye view! 🥰🥰
