This is a plant to be avoided at all costs, something you may have all seen on the woodland floor but never known what it is or how dangerous it can be
Ooh, and it looks so innocuous! Those serrated leaves and the dainty flowers make it even more innocent looking. There's a clue in the name tho..... Mercury is poisonous. Thanks for that. x
Thankyou for your comment sis mo, ad you day it looks pretty innocous but its something worth k owing about i think , hope your doing ok my friend atb jj

Not sure if I covered this in my UK foraging videos last year. I definitely should have done. Nice explanation about the plant mate. Hope you are doing fine.
I just thought it was an interesting llant to cover due to the fact it grows everywhere and if your picking wild garlic etc you don't want to be inadvertently picking some of this up as well...doing well over here my friend thankyou hope you are as well atb jj
I just drove out and picked a load of wild garlic plus a stem of dogs mercury, I then decided not to eat the garlic as I got paranoid. Can I ask does garlic sometimes have serated leaves? Or are they smooth and large and coming out at ground level....? I've got a bucket full and just want to be sure! And is it really that harmful if I pick them along a main road? Wish I could send a pic of what I have to be sure. Thanks for your lovely videos!
Wild garlic..which is unmistakable from its smell when tolled or crushed leaves always had long smoth flat elongated leaves , would never take frim near a near if im honest
Excellent Justin and thank you like I said I am using your videos for home schooling my youngest. He loves your videos by the way and is looking forward to meeting you when all this is over. Atvb Stuart
And I look forward to meeting you both when this is all over too my friend aswell...hope these videos are helping in some way ..as always thanks for watching atb jj
@@JJ_OUTDOORS I only tried it once, soon realised it wasn't mint, but seriously though, thanks for the video because I never bothered to look it up and I certainly didn't know it was poisonous. 👍
@@geraldinegregory.1803 I ate 1 raw leaf. glad to know I won't die, I also thought it mint. my plant identifier app actually continuously identified it as basil...... whoops
@@JJ_OUTDOORS thank you. I'll be really cautious when picking wild garlic. I'll avoid Lord's And Ladies, and Dogs Mercury. Today I foraged wild comfrey, pineapple weed, and honesty seeds.
There's loads up the mountain where I go. I did not know they were poisonous. Cheers for the heads up matey, I've sent a load to the Ex wife, I've told her to follow the directions for making stingy nettle soup. She hasn't got back to me... Obviously Joking guy's.... Very informative and very useful, thank you JJ..
I was just being careful in this video too enthasis the point of this plant causing problems...i don't think its an irritant tbh but best to be avoided nonetheless
Thanks for the tip jj, I'm really new to foraging and generally wouldn't eat anything I've double checked. Thanks for sharing 👍

I ate 1 raw leaf of this by accident. so far so good
