One of the main things I really love about your garden is the way it rambles, and really lives in the ground. And, you know where everything is. Tidy gardens can look nice, but they can feel a bit too precious and contrived I think, not how nature works really. So as long as you can find what you need and you, and the animals, and plants, love being in your garden, that's all that matters. Hope you have an enjoyable visit to the UK, and Thanks for another lovely video 🌿💛
Personally, I’m not a fan of the straight laced, conventional garden. They feel unnatural, clinical and oppressed to me. On the other hand, I love free flow, medicinal, food filled, gardens with hidden/surprise pockets 🙏🏼
There is not to much difference between Ireland & UK as few people speak the language of Ireland, that has a link with the land, places. When the translation from the Irish to English was done much was lost. People wonder why the Irish language was not spoken when the Republic was created, the Civil Servants who were in charge prior to the Republic being created remained. They just changed the Logo, and remained the same. It is possible if visitors could learn the Irish language, they would have a more interesting time. Thank you.
So, you have finally confirmed what this abundance of plants are in my lower yard. I thought they might be Dock, but seeing your video has confirmed it. Thank you!☆
Love watching your herbal topics .I not look at weeks in a different way these days weeds do not annoy me in my garden as now as seed them all as medical plants that was put on this earth for us. .Thanks for your time of explaining it all to us . Watching from Northern Ireland Enjoy your time away
Wonderful video. I love the wild garden, it makes a change from the many people who want everything designer sterile, which is of no benefit to wildlife whatsoever.
I was thrilled to hear you mention some great herbalists of old - Culpeper, Gerard, and de Bairacli Levy. I think your garden is beautiful with its beneficial weeds! Our garden has exploded here in Oregon… lots of sunshine after a long and very wet winter. Thank you for another pleasing and informative video!
Greetings from historic Sharps Chapel Tennessee!!!😊😊. Yellow dock grows here as thick as in your lovely garden. I've just recently started studying herbal medicine for several conditions. Thank your these very informational videos!! Enjoy your trip😅😅😅.
My garden is full of docks!!! I never realised how amazing it is! I usually cut it down and try and dig them up. I'll keep a few around this year and get some dried to add to my collection. Thank you so much 😊❤
I feel badly that I pulled the one beautiful dock plant from my garden this summer, as I was unfamiliar with it. However, I did sense that it was a gift and am now grateful for finding your channel and your wisdom, passing to me the divine knowledge of this species! Thank you, you are a huge blessing and inspiration for me in living harmoniously with all life around me! I do have some burning questions I've been wanting to ask, and I feel you will have some wisdom that resonates with me--I'll be writing soon! Love to you!
I find I learn from you. More main stream ideas / gardening channels have become a little boring. When you already know how to garden, but don't have enough herb knowledge, your channel is great.
Hello. Love your videos. As an herbalist for over 25 yrs, I know about yellow dock, but I love the way you teach it. Never stop learning and your a great teacher. Have a fantastic week 🤗
I first became aware of dock on the Saskatchewan prairies at age 15 many moons ago while visiting. Nicknamed "fireweed" by local farmers for the flame red colour of the seeds I fell in love with it and shipped a large box full home only to find it growing in Quebec as well!🤣🤣 Thank you for this Terri and have a lovely visit!
Good day wonderful lady! I'm always learn something new on your channel and for that I'm very grateful ❤ hope you have a wonderful week ahead! Seems like the sunshine is coming back, fingers crossed!
I love your wild garden.❤🎉❤ It has inspired me to believe that our wild nature has a positive place in our culture. Through your videos, informative plant wisdom and good nature I am well on my way down the herbalist rabbit 🐇 hole 😂 I know that the tidy garden has its appeal but yours is a garden where children, our furry friends and magic all come together 🍀✨ !
Another excellent and informative video Terri!! I have a similar climate here on the west coast of Canada and a lot of similar plants! I was looking at all the dock I have and wondering if you had a vid about it and then this vid just appeared! Magic! Thanks again! Please give Brock and Jazz an extra pat from a big fan way over here in BC.!❤
I aspire to re-wilding my areas....it's not about being tidy...it's knowing and caring for what we have....we're all different in our gardening ways as we are as people...I love what you have created.....no comparison... 💚💚💚💚💚 I have some friends visiting Ireland in a few weeks....if I ever have the chance to go, I may not ever want to leave. Take care.
Hello Terri have a good trip, 🌞 beautiful sunset at beginning of video, very informative chat about yellow dock ,thank you so many remedies, not just for nettle stings!🤗 Hugs and Blessings 💚🌹
Recently got my AncestryDNA results back and was so surprised to find Irish my strongest blood lines it seems. Had absolutely no idea. Laughing to myself thinking this must explain why I have always loved the Irish and Ireland still on my bucket list to visit. This again another educational vid so thanks again for all you share. 😀😀
I have used yellow dock in a decoction and like it. I have not harvested it, though it grows locally here in my local meadow in Southern California and is so pretty as it changes to a deep rust red color in the Autumn. Thank you for sharing! Love your wild garden.
Thank you Terry and Lol I always look forward to your delightful and educational films. I loved Brock rolling in the dock :) and black glossy coated Jazz too. I remember my dear old Dad telling me the virtues of Dock leaves squished on nettle rash ( grows close by) and bug bites it really works . Mother Nature so worthy of our love and respect Blessings from Canada Denise xo ox
Thank you Terri! Once again another enjoyable, teachable walk in your garden. This is so timely, as I just had it confirmed through tests that I have Lyme and Babesia, a parasitic infection of my red blood cells. The first item of the healing protocol is to detox, clean the liver, kidney and lymph to prepare for treatment to rid my body of it. I have my tinctures addressing these very same systems coming in the mail but this will be a powerful go-to to have in my cabinet for continued future use. I know I have this on my property. Blessings to you, Lol, and the dogs.
I didn’t know anything about “dock”,had not even heard of it ,so thank you for this information.Don’t worry about tidying your garden,as long as it’s growing it’s fine!Have a wonderful trip👋🥰👋
I agree 100%. Thanks to you I am looking at our land with new eyes. Where I used to see weeds, I niw see an apothecary. The last thing I want is for our propery to look like it belongs in an urban subdivision. Been there dine that...no thank you.
Always educational. ❤ The only thing I knew about Dock, which may be wrong. Rub the leaf on a nettle sting and it heals it. Or at least soothes it. My mum taught me that...hoping its slightly true 😁
Terri, Thank you! I'd forgotten about Yellow Dock - and it is exactly what I need right now - the aroma being like an elixir itself is a perfect indicator. Have a lovely trip across the water.
Thanks for sharing info about dock, but also your practical approach to keeping the weeds without letting them take over in a problematic way! It is very helpful to hear how others handle this.
Hi from the West Kootenay in British Columbia, Canada. Here things are growing very quickly now too with the long days and warm temperatures. I've lived here for over forty years and I'm still amazed at how things grow in the mountain valley. Thanks for the refresher course on yellow dock (Rumex crispus). Yellow dock grows commonly here in my garden and I am always digging it out here and there. I don't use yellow dock although I'm well aware of its medicine. I've read, that is where a lot of my herb and herbal medicine knowledge comes from - reading herb and herbal medicine books that I've collected over the decades, that Yellow Dock should not be used when a person is drinking coffee or black/green tea as there are compounds (iron) in the yellow dock that combine with caffeine. Apparently, from what I have read from a least one herbal medicine source, those iron compounds combining with caffeine can cause an iron toxicity. Too much iron is just as bad as not enough iron. I use dandelion root (Taraxacum officinalis) along with burdock root (Arctium lappa) as a decoction tea for much of the year. Those two medicinal roots do pretty much the same thing as yellow dock root and from what I've read dandelion and burdock root don't have the iron issue as does yellow dock. Still good to have a refresher here, I do appreciate your words and work. I still look up a lot of the herbs/roots that I use (and grow for medicine) in my herb and herbal medicine books fairly often. Rereading all that information, hearing about it here on your videos and other herbal practitioners videos on you tube, is always a good refresher for me. - - - Yes, Huw Richards garden is something isn't it, so well kept and organized. My garden is much more like your own, sort of wild (letting nature be a big part of how things grow and look, letting those medicinal plants grow and flourish in my garden at will - cutting and digging them out when there are just too many and overgrowing other 'food' crops) and more like an ecological reserve than a manicured English/Japanese garden. I'm happy gardening my way, half wild (like myself), as I always see the beauty and worth of all these wonderful plants that grow for us. - - - Thanks again for your great videos. Have a wonderful summer. Cheers!
That's right. As far as I know one should not use the same pots to brew the Dock root as for black tea because the tannins thst discolour the pot can interact with the Dock. Enjoy your garden this week xx
Last year I picked some reddish seed heads on the road side and looked up to know the plant name. It reminds me of burdock I've grown whose taproot is an amazing medicinal food as well.
I'm so happy you did this video. I have dock in my yard and the only information I could find for use is to grind the seeds for bread. I know nothing happens in nature without a purpose. Now I know what the purpose of dock is and how to keep in under control. Thank you so much!
haven't noticed any vids on seaberries - they should be able to be grown in ireland with no problems, as we have them west coast, northern states, east coast, as well as canada, while German and Russian seaberries proliferate across the Old World. Seaberries are massively healthy and nutritious in so many ways of processing and storing.
I didn't realise you could eat them until recently. So I tried a young leaf and it wasn't bad, a little cabbage-like, but milder. Since then the leaves are more tough, but I understand it can be cooked like greens too. Interesting regarding the root - have plenty to harvest! Cheers!
I don't think dock will grow where I live in the subtropics, but I'll check it out, what an incredible plant! Happy belated Strawberry Moon Terri, & safe journey too!🐝🐛🐞
I was in the Tennessee mountains last week. I bought yellow root from an Indian store. The smell so good. Have you heard of them?? I enjoy learning from you. Thank you so much!
hi,Terri.....thank you for the video..first I didn,t understand what Dock is,but than I have a look inside your book.....now I know it..................take care of you when you are in england............Blessings anfd Greetings from Daggy,Kiel,Germany...........love☘☘☘
Great timing, just found a stash of a few plants yesterday on a walk. A little closer to the road than preferred, but, it is what it is, perhaps I'll just gather a handful of seeds for planting next year. Have a nice trip & visit Cheers
I love dock and have used it for a number of skin conditions. I once gave some crushed leaves to my niece and it healed her cold sore. Sadly my current garden doesn’t have any which is a comment on the poor soil I suppose. Thanks again for a great video.
Hi my Lovely, thank you for the great informative video, I never knew yellow dock was so useful. You said in an older video you sometimes use old nettles to make plant feed, would yellow dock also be good for this? Could you make a video in the future showing the process you follow to make the feed. Also there is a book called "Wild Drinks and Cocktails" by Emily Han, its handcrafted squashes, shrubs, switchels, tonics and infusions all using herbs/honey ect.... I thought of you when I saw it, some really good ideas to incorporate the medicinal plants from the garden. Wishing you a really super week xx
This is fantastic thanks Terri! I have quite a bit of dock in the garden and knew there had to be a use for it. I have chopped and dropped the leaves often onto the beds and am delighted to hear of the benefits. And as a nutritional/ herbal remedy I am very excited to know this too. Love your videos ❤
Well darlin, your garden might not be "pristine" as some would have their gardens. But, from this artist's point of view, it is wonderfully inviting to the soul that would like to "wander" about and explore the hidden beauties. After-all "all souls that wander are not lost!!" Some are artists that enjoy the beauty that is looked for :) Enjoy your day.
I love the wild nature of your garden. My vegetable garden and yard have been overrun by yellow dock and bitter dock for a while now, and I can only make so much yellow dock tincture. lol I've been using them as chop and drop because I simply don't have time to dig them all out.
Terri 💚 have a safe trip to England. I have never used yellow dock but read about it Of the benefits.funny you mentioned tidey gardens I usually have one but I will let my beneficial weeds grow I use for med's and teas cooking I use them cut them back for later usage.they come back like peak a boo iam back 😊
This is news to me thank you. I will look out for it on my walks at new location. We are moving from high dry cold windy barren plains to more abundance. Not like the green isle but better. Bless all of you Brock and Dock😊
Hello Terri and Lol: Nice weather! Nothing wrong to allow nature to be nature! Your garden is amazing, makes me smile and in a good mood! today we are marking the trail to the lake because there are many plants that are growing freely that my sis is identifying. My sis is learning about plants.... And I have that plant at home!!! Blessings and more blessings and have a good and safe trip to England!
Hello, my goodness me terri, I panicked 😅when I saw you with the strimmer,,I know you have a lovely abundance of all the yummy wild weeds,I'm still nurturing mine to keep more, more, very annoying that a lot of my nieghbours scaffolding is in my garden, should be down by Tuesday, then im OK and can sort myself out,,its very very warm here this morning 🌄.im looking up my book s about the beautiful docks,I have not received my 2nd weed book yet from my son,he gave me the first one last birthday so hopefully July i will get no 2.he is away from England at the mo studying so I may get it wee bit late. I do have a little handful of weed books and herbs,xx xxxxx😊.im scroll ing back through your films to find products with docks to make xxhave a wonderful Sunday and a wonderful time visiting your mum in law too.take care, thankyou from my and my girls xxxxx
I have forgotten about yellow dock. I was happy to hear about it's many benefits. Thank you for sharing this very benificial herb and would like to see you make something with it this fall.🙌 Enjoy your visit and time with your mother in law. ❤
Amazingly warm and sunny Spain like this last while. When will the daily rain showers begin again I wonder? Would be lovely go wild swimming but the water is still probably freezing. The bath will have to do lol, with some essential oil of course or some kind of weed? Probably come out yellow if I bathed in yellow dock?
Hi Terri, just been in my garden debating either to cut the dock or leave it as it is producing seeds, now I know! Can the leaves be eaten or used as a tea for digestive aid as with dandelion leaves? Terri I love your garden!!! You encourage me to have patience with mine and not to fret if its not quite as up to scratch as I would like it to be, I always seem to be one step behind but I love it all the same and eat continually from my input as do the wild life. When I watch Huw Richards, I love what he does but watching does make me feel a bit down hearted about my efforts and my haphazard results. You and your lovely garden encourage the enjoyment and usefulness of the abundance that springs into life and to respect mothers natures grand idea of beauty and to let plants flourish that in turn feeds the wild life and us. Those wild flowers and plants, the bees and insects recognise them, the colours, the smells, the same cant be said of commercially produced flowers. Love what you do, have a good trip and thanks x
Thanku Terrie silly question is this the same dock we find near stinging nettles Really enjoy your videos I'm so hooked 😊💚 and love your beautiful little doggies and puss cats .have a lovely trip to England .I'm in Kent Much love and God bless .🙏💚helen
Thank you. More of your very useful information on another plant, I never really knew much about. I will search for in around my yard. We have plenty of different types of "weeds" growing here. Time to collect, for a Time when in need to Heal with the Weeds. 🙂
I was not familiar with yellow dock. I have a similar problem with bind weed, oh my, wish it were medicine as it is out of control this year. Thank you Terri! ☀️🐝🐞
Had a wing ding fight with my son when I caught him ripping out all my weeds!😮 "WHY YOU RIPPING OUT ALL MY FOOD"? "Don't you see how it has me able to get out of bed & do some functioning"? He said it's not food! I said your right, it's food, nutrition & medicine, get educated in it or leave it ALONE!😂💪 He argued but left the rest! Thank GOD i caught him before he hit my only patch of bleeding heart!😂😂😂
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Was in pow exp. Ex would go out & rip out stiff I was nurturing while I slept! Grape vines chopped to the ground in early spring growth, etc! Watching the Grape vine weep felt like my life blood leaking! BUT GOD! I thought the vine was done for. But it bounced back!❤️ Alot of things he took out didn't! Hard when you leave it, but the children carry it on! Would happen rarely so not up in your face need to deal with kinda thing! Was more like a weird maybe once a year all the sudden kinda thing! Random & rare made it harder to address what was really going on! That was 20 yrs ago. Eldest son recognizes & works hard to not repeat ❤️💪But if & when it happens it is like as a,child when our home burned down! Or young teen homeless living on the streets! Stepping back & looking & dealing with big picture there can be much growth in the healing! And then you can go help other's, just as 1 plant pollinate another! Was that son's close friend who taught me alot about weeds & their nutrition etc

Your garden is perfect! I'd rather have a garden full of herbs and flowers and useful weeds all over the place rather than a uniformed weedless one 😊❤

Wow! What great information. Thank you, Terri. Have fun in London and hurry home safely.
Hello there Terri, happy Sunday to you, xxx
thank you Terry for another wonderful video. have a pleasant trip and we look forward to seeing you next week 🌻
also, your garden doesnt appear untidy to me, it looks natural and well cared for ♥️
I was in the Tennessee mountains last week.
Have a nice trip & visit
Cheers
I love dock and have used it for a number of skin conditions. I once gave some crushed leaves to my niece and it healed her cold sore. Sadly my current garden doesn’t have any which is a comment on the poor soil I suppose. Thanks again for a great video.
Thank you for the lovely opening, so peaceful 😊 I love your garden, wild and beautiful.
Thank you! 😊 Xx
Thanks as always for your generous knowledge. Your garden looks wonderful. Have a lovely trip.
Thank you Terri for this video. The weather has been great, though we are hoping for rain up here in the north east of Ireland. Safe trip xx
Thanks Maxine - I'm safely home again and we've just had rain, so everywhere feeling refreshed. xx
I just want to THANK YOU...
For being So Detailed , about
This plants Benefits, and what parts are Needed to Use , for those Benefits ! ❤
Glad it was helpful! Xx
☀️🌿Good morning Terri
Love learning from you! 🌿☀️
Morning to you Barbara. Delighted to hear that xx
I’d been wanting to make an iron tonic for my daughter… and this came up. Thankyou!
I love the wild nature of your garden. My vegetable garden and yard have been overrun by yellow dock and bitter dock for a while now, and I can only make so much yellow dock tincture. lol I've been using them as chop and drop because I simply don't have time to dig them all out.
I just found your channel, Very interesting, I need a long weekend to enjoy your videos. 💚
Terri 💚 have a safe trip to England. I have never used yellow dock but read about it
Of the benefits.funny you mentioned tidey gardens I usually have one but I will let my beneficial weeds grow I use for med's and teas cooking I use them cut them back for later usage.they come back like peak a boo iam back 😊
This is news to me thank you. I will look out for it on my walks at new location. We are moving from high dry cold windy barren plains to more abundance. Not like the green isle but better. Bless all of you Brock and Dock😊

Thank you for you invaluable knowledge, truly appreciated. Safe travels to England ☺️
❤❤❤ thank you Terri. Perfect timing for me.

Great clip, many thanx...Nature...never ceases to amaze me with all it's Healing Gifts. Have a great time in London...TTFN.
Thank you, this I definitely will try to heal from previous (commercial) medication damage.
You can make a tea with the leaves and add them to stews but I would use the younger leaves xx
Thank you once again for your wisdom. We have an abundant supply of dock, which I will now deseed and then use the roots late summer. ❤😊❤
Sounds great! Xx
Thanku Terrie silly question is this the same dock we find near stinging nettles
Really enjoy your videos I'm so hooked 😊💚 and love your beautiful little doggies and puss cats .have a lovely trip to England .I'm in Kent
Much love and God bless .🙏💚helen
Yes , they do tend to be found close to Nettle. xx
Thank you. More of your very useful information on another plant, I never really knew much about. I will search for in around my yard. We have plenty of different types of "weeds" growing here. Time to collect, for a Time when in need to Heal with the Weeds. 🙂
Glad it was helpful! Xx
Can you consume yellow dock in salads, soups etc.?
I was not familiar with yellow dock. I have a similar problem with bind weed, oh my, wish it were medicine as it is out
of control this year. Thank you Terri! ☀️🐝🐞
It does have medicinal properties, very mild though so not really used any more. Xx
Hi Terri thanks for information enjoy your time away Love to you xxx
Thank you so much for this info, in such a charming way. Have a great day!
Thank you! You too! xx
have a good trip and thanks
Thanks! 😃 Xx
Yellow dock is supposed to be so good for the liver, but I am allergic to it.
Aaarrgghhh! What a nightmare. I hope he didn't do too much damage, 🤗
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden 🙄😂🤣 Only lost a few before I caught him! Thank GOD!👌
Thank you 💗
You’re welcome 😊 xx
Thankyou you have helped so much❤😊
Bless you
