    Wade, you are awesome! I have a Masdavallia Redwing. When I got it about 1 month ago give or take....I split it into 2 plants as it was screaming help!!!! I put one in my bathroom, and one in my living room on the mantle out of direct light. They look healthy, no blooms yet, but not dead yet either so thats a good think. I have been keeping the bathtub full in that bathroom out of direct sunlight. My phals are in there too but with some light. I do mist them both (not the phals) daily. Can you please give me some advise for caring for my Masdavallias properly? I just ordered my first flask of Onc. Sweet Sugar Dancing Ladies! Very excited to try my hand at that! I caught the orchid bug last July and now have over 40 orchids and having a blast! I need a greenhouse!!!!!! Believe me...I will be getting one built soon for sure! Blessings and Thanks, Angela

      Masdevallias need good air movement and good quality water. Also, strive for a 10 - 15 degree (F) temperature drop at night. The proper light will show an indistinct shadow when you pass your hand in front of them. Here's a video on them: ua-cam.com/video/e0rq-b3mpyI/v-deo.html

    Hi Wade, another super update.
    May I ask your advice on repotting Aerangis citrata. Mine is in a small pot with very large bark and is doing well, growing lots of new roots now that it has finished flowering. It is doing well with my weekly watering regime. It is too big for the pot though so I want to repot it.
    I see lots of aerangis mounted and potted in sphag so am tempted to pot it in sphag, only it is doing so well in the large bark! What would you suggest? Many thanks.

      If it's doing well in the large bark I would just move it to a larger pot and continue with large bark.

      +Wade's Orchids Thanks, Wade. That makes sense. It just seems wrong with those skinny roots :/

    Hi There! love your orchids. Question: do you have the Aerides Houlletiana???

    • @wadesorchids7219

      +Matty T Sorry, but I don't have that one. I have Aerides lawrenceae as small plants a couple years from blooming. That's about as close as I can get.

    What do you mean by "hit has an am"?

    • @wadesorchids7219
      @wadesorchids7219  7 років тому

      An "AM" is short for an Award of Merit by the American Orchid Society. This is sometime expressed on a pot label by AM/AOS. The award is based on a point scale and generally means that the flowers were rated very highly when compared to others of the same type.
