- Summer's end beckons the start of the Catasetum season, a family of plants that go dormant during winter. Habenaris are in bloom which also go dormant during winter. These are both good for growing in homes where the winter's heat causes humidity to plummet.

Loved this video. I am encouraged to see that they are hybridizing Catasetums to smaller sizes. I have been wanting one but live in a small apartment with limited space for my orchids. Always looking for miniature plants. Thanks.

Oh, what timing for this video! I bought a tiny “lady of the night” last year and just now, as of a few days ago, it’s got its first spike coming in! I’m so excited! I agree with you though... it’s a MUST HAVE for any comprehensive collection.

Hey! I have just a small question. Would you happen to have any culture in Bletilla orchids? I'm not sure what to do to induce dormancy besides keeping it a little drier, but i cant exactly freeze the plant since I keep it indoors. Should I put it outside and let the cold handle the dormancy, or will it go dormant indoors of it gets cold enough? (For reference, the room can go from 45 to 60 in the winter, but it's never below 50 for long periods of time)

Where did you get the Hab. Erich's Pink Thing? It looks absolutely identical to Hab. erichmichelii, so I'm just curious.

The wire for hangers to used in other video are they galvanised wire ? Is the rust have in wire bad for plant ??
Hamim CHOWDHURY yes, it was galvanized wire. 12 gauge is best although I have used 14 gauge. If the wire is of good quality, it shouldn’t rust but you’ll be glad to know that I have never seen any problems if some rust does form.
