Indian Runner Ducks

- Last week we added seven new runner ducklings to our flock of five. Over the past few days, they have been getting to know each other. We can hardly wait for the little ones to grow to full size so that they all can be outside of their yard, patrolling the farm for insects. Oh the adventures this dozen daffy ducks are going to have!!

From what I’ve learned their very afraid of people and cameras. Guess you slowly earn trust with food bribes. Also if their not going in the water, you may need a gradual sloping, long ramp for them to get in the pool. Saw a bunch of videos with that type of ramp & they will swim a lot. Great looking ducks & beautiful property!
Partiesbyp they already spend a lot of the day in the pools, but always hop out when I am inside their yard. Eventually they will spend their days free-ranging the yards of the farm....eating insects to their hearts content.
I have to say again your property is gorgeous...I'm jealous. Those ducks are gonna have one good life!

It ran the right duck eating the banan peel while covering the left duck while the other 2 green duck chased the brown duck away 😂

Which are the quieter ones and docile
I want ducks as pets in garden and not farming
Runners are pretty quiet and docile, also much smaller than Pekins and eat less feed
There are extra small and quiet bantam duck breeds meant specifically as garden pets
Muscovy ducks are the quietest ducks. But between those 2 I’d go with runners

They loook cute! Do they swim also in a pond?
These are meadow ducks and don't need a pond. I do have a wading pool for them to bathe in, however.
these dicks love to swim, if given the space more then some ducks in captivity, though its not needed

Yes, they waddle. But they don’t fly. They mostly just run

like 2 meters if you scare the poop out of them :D we have one which turns 90° to the "danger" and lifts off for 1-2 meters. :D:D
@@tomast9034 mine can fly up to few hundred metres before falling. Saw it once after being chased by a stray dog.

@@tomast9034 lazy 😀. I have 3 of them, one usually eats by laying on the floor, not even bothering to stand while eating.
