    A year later, Mash Hopping is the new rage now that Thiolized Yeasts exist! Mash hopping creates free ions of MEH2 (or something) that the yeasts grab and biotransform! I'm personally a huge fan of the new research/innovation being done in the brewing world! PROST!

    Scott janish mentions in his book the reason to mash hop is to reduce oxidation. There is a certain oil in certain varieties like nugget that have oxidative protection when used in the mash. He mentions it also when he was on the brulosophy podcast

    Great video Pete and very nice explanation, speaking about the FWH and by personal opinion I found bolder bitterness in the beer but it’s just me maybe I’m biased by the fact that had liked more the final beers using this ‘method’ . Prost ! 🍻🍻🙌🏼

    This video came just in time! I’m brewing the Crowd Pleaser pale ale from your previous video and was a little concerned about the dry hopping phase and when to do it. Pretty much answered my question. My mind is at ease! ‘Preciate that! 🍻

    Great video mate, Really insightful! Love the channel but I have one suggestion, when you mention a temperature could you put a little text pop up with the equivalent in celsius? Would make things much more accessible for non-American subs! Cheers and keep up the great work

    Great video! Dude, my buddy lives in SoCal and brought me some Lost Winds Tropiclemente and a few other Fantastic beers! Since this is on hops wondering if you have had their Tropiclemente and any insight to how they get that intense passion fruit tropical flavor in their beers?

    Hey there, following from mexico, just to let you know I took inspiration in your west coast pseudo lagger and crowd pleaser pale ale to brew 2 batches, 1st was done with us05 instead of lutra, but pure pilsen + carapils + mosaic, amazing spring brew! the pale ale i had to change mosaic for cascade (already had it) us05 again and victory for color, hop schedules just like yours and it came out great too, drinking one pint of that brew atm! prost! cheers! salud! campai! campei! chin chin! skal!

      You know I actually have not. I’ve used whole cone and pellet and cryo hops, but never oils. I’ll have to see if I can maybe do a side by side test.

    Good video peter. Regarding first wort hops, I have heard claims that FWH provide smoother bitterness. Do you find any truth to this? I get the concept that you can use less hops with FWH and achieve the same bitterness due to extended contact time but I don't know if there is any science to support idea of a smoother bitterness.
    Off topic, yay or nay on Bananza for a Dunkelweizen?

    • @ProstwithPeter
      @ProstwithPeter  3 роки тому +1

      I have heard something similar, but I’m thinking it may be a myth. Maybe brulosophy has done something on it? Maybe I could try a side by side with balanced IBUs. And yay! You should maybe do a side by side if possible, if not still try it.

    This has nothing to do with your video, but have you ever seen the bitter beer face commercials? You have a lot of knowledge on hop utilization. I would need to re read the hop book to be able to regurgitate as much knowledge as you just did.
