Su-25 Aircraft Safely Lands After Being HIT by Ukrainian MANPADS

- Russian Sukhoi Su-25 aircraft safely lands after being hit by Ukrainian MANPADS - The Russian Ministry of Defence released footage early on March 14, 2022, demonstrating once again how tough the Sukhoi Su-25 Frogfoot can be. The clip illustrates the plane taxiing with considerable damage to the rear right hand side of the fuselage allegedly caused by a MANPADS or Man Portable Air Defence System.
In regard to the case, it can be seen that the incident demonstrates two crucial aspects one is the threat posed by MANPADS operated by the Ukrainian forces to all Russian aircraft operating at medium and low altitudes, and the second one is the damage tolerance of the Su-25.

Really a flying tank
More like drones fire
Not really
@@dominien6487 It's Highly armored though.
@@e.sstudios1015 not as much as you would think, its mainly a redundant aircraft with a small area around the pilot armored
@@dominien6487 no. The engines are armoured as well and also there was some old photage of test shooting this aircraft with a cannon and on that photage you could see it withstanding its shots, also some system that stops leaks within ~30 secs. It's a heavily armoured aircraft designed to be extremely survivable
It's basically a jet version of the IL-2
Yep
the il-40 looks more like the il-2 doe
Impressive that it was able to make it back safely, but I assume that it will be out of the fight for a while.
Maybe a month or 4, depending how far the shrapnel is

Wow that's a durable plane.
S25 is a tank with flying wings , build from zero to take a hit or 2
No the nissle exploded near it it would be a different story if it was a direct hit
@@elitewavez4768 That's how missiles work smartass, they have a proximity fuse to explose next to the target. The missile is virtually incapable of scoring a direct hit on a target because once it gets close enough it explodes.
@@elitewavez4768 all missiles are ment to expldoe near, not direct
@@elitewavez4768 the missiles that your saying is anti nuke is missiles that instead blowing when near to the nuke, it rams it, but no anti Air missiles have been built to ram planes, because that's thats less effective, the missiles today are like the flak cannon proximity fuse shell from ww2 they explode when near to a plane
@elite wavez You realize anti air missles aren't designed to make contact with a plane right? They're supposed to explode just before contact and throwing a lot of shrapnel at the plane.
Wow even 😳 engine completely damaged impressive.
Ukrainian forces: "it's time to go."
Frogfoot: "maybe another day."
Another feature that was not mentioned here, is that the SU25 has the ability to go supersonic. The A10 cannot go that fast.
True. Then again, the Warthog was designed around an armor penetrating gun. I don't think they're really that similar except for their attack roles.
no Su25 it's a subsonic plane not supersonic
Really
SU-25 cant go super sonic with it going 560mph as Super sonic or "Mach" is over 720mph+ but yes A-10 is slower than SU-25
It cant even if it did it would be with no load
An absolute beast. Packs a massive punch too. 🔥🔥
Something that any "Modern and advanced" aircraft can't do
Maybe "modern" aircraft won't get hit in the first place.
Name one that can fly beyond hypersonic speed...
@@stc2828 like what? Rain?
@@AchwaqKhalid modern aircraft usually cant fly that fast because they dont need to and its more efficient to fly slower, this also extends their range and allows for greater efficiency and performance in the tasks they perform
Just because modern aircraft may not be as resilient (which is arguable honestly) or as fast, doesnt make them worse, they are not made to do the same things that older cold war era stuff was made to do, they are made to fill entirely new roles that largely were not present at the time that these older aircraft were being designed
I wonder if the F-35 will be taken down by not a golden BB, but some duck birdshot. You know, a pellet enters the engine and the sensors shut down the computers, and auto-eject the pilot. Or heaven forbid a shot scratches the stealth coating and the plane has to be rotated back to the states for depo maintenance and it's claimed as a class A incident.
Nice to see an oldie's still got it 😉

It happened occasionally in Afghanistan war of 1980s, there was a firewall between the engines to prevent the other engine got a fire!
I didn't know there was a firewall, that explains a lot of how the other engine still had thrust to get back.
So, seems Su25 in Warthunder is tough as IRL.
that's what we call a bison instead of frog
Its 30 sec repair don't worry
Tough cold war attack aircraft. I love it in DCS (simulator). If you're playing a cold war scenario this thing is pretty neat eventhough it has WW2 like avionics...

Thankfully the Su25 have modernized versions. Even some can be armed with radar pods and long range AAM's
Nice!
bro the fact that the voiceover says "suck-hoi SU25" and "ahh 10" lmao
This frogfoot IS a tank still better Than a lot of 21st century aircraft
I has more combat record than a10 .. the a10 only flew in countries without any air defence..
DCASA and AH are only supposed to come in once the stealth fighter/bombers have neutralized the air defenses. The DCASA are designed to take small arms fire and manpads and get the pilot back to the forward base so they can climb into another aircraft for another loitering rotation to support the battle.
In this type of airplanes pilots wear even double underpants for safety reasons.
Disqualify is succesfull enough. After that su25 was shot. It had to return and make emergency landing and it has serious body damage. it needs a month to be repaired. And other jets in the area escapes. it is a victory for the one who used the manpad.
Yea but they didn't know it's successful or not because that plan didn't crashed after the attack
Same thing with A10
Not really, dark, cz if the pilot surived uninjured, then he can just get a new plane and be back to bombing targets the next day. So now, it's not a victory for the manpads user, this is a victory for the pilot.
it will probably be used for parts
@@KondorDCS Battle and War different words. It doesnt matter who will win the war at the end. There was a battle between pilot and manpad. And manpad was victorious because pilot couldnt success on his mission and manpad was succesful.
Tomorrow will be new battle. Pilot will be more experienced and more cautious. And manpad man will create a new ambush and new tactics.
If any plane goes to base without completing his mission it is an unsuccesful pilot.
Even if the pilot has been dead and plane was crashed a new pilot and new plane would fly there tomorrow. So manpad was victories untill next battle.

I'd like to see an SU-25 survive a Starstreak - the sheer kinetic energy these Mach 3+ weapons carry tears anything they hit to pieces.
Yeah, i think the SU 25 will not survive that. Starstreak missile has solid penetrator since it is a KE-Missile, it will rip off the engine and fuselage. But... that happens only IF the starstreak hits, which will be harder than most missiles because it requires direct hit, not just proximity explosion like most AA missiles are.
This plane survived because MANPADS are weak. But you dont need starstreak, had it been an ADATS missile, we won't have this news.
@@stateservant Yep, Starstreak is not the easiest weapon to aim - that's why the British are deploying more non-MANPAD RADAR-guided variants. But if one does hit you - you're in trouble! It's great against many targets - if you can guess where the engine on a boat is - it'll punch through most hulls and destroy the block. We should be creating a "marinised" version with RADAR guidance for marine point-defence.
Keeping liberating Ukraine from the American backed coup d'etat in Feburary 2014 and the resulting 8 years of war crimes and violations of the Minsk agreement and deaths of over 14,000+ Russian speaking Ukrainians in the Donbass region from war crimes and violations of the Minsk agreement...
Thank you Russia for standing up for innocent civilians in the Donbass...✌❤
You're making a small mistake: the Su-25 is called "Grach" by NATO and the Su-25T is called "Frogfoot".
And we can see the two types in the video.
If that was the British starstreak that Frog would be dead.
For first time Su 25 in ussr was built in Tbilisi Georgia.

These actions took place in a real battle. Do you seriously think that he was greeted with cameras? The Russian military does not use phones or cameras. Therefore, you cannot see footage of real battles from Russian soldiers.
@@DG-gm3yz The problem is that in addition to the physical war, there is also a war of disinformation and it is advisable to double check the news.
You have to be a little skeptical when you see a scattered plane on the ground that they want to set up as an all-surviving device.
So weird that a military channel would call the A-10 an ahten or whatever that lady was saying. Is this AI narration?
This aircraft like the A10 and the attack helicopters are designed specifically for this job. Many have questioned why the russians did not deploy their air superiority fighter. First of all Ukraine does not have any significant airforce. Look at right now most of low flying russian aircrafts were destroyed by manpads. The russians are not dumb repeating the lessons of Afghanistan where most of their frontline fighters and helicopeters were destroyed not by another multi million dollar F16 OR Eurofighter but a cheap manpad called stinger missiles that US provided to the Taliban. These ground support aircraft have armor in its belly means they can add thick skin. Air superiority fighters have very thin skin. Especially those new stealth have composite skins unlike older fighters have metallic skin. We all know that carbon fibre can be hard to repair.
Wonder what its Replacement 😎

@@Jabba.Da.Hutt_ agreed - as always a poor and lousy russian copy cat.
@@Jabba.Da.Hutt_ The A-10 is still a good and capable aircraft, but the amount of close-range SAM and MANPAD systems in today's battlefields forces it to attack from higher altitudes. Even in desert storm, they did most of the attacks with guided missiles, not with the brrrrr gun. It is somewhat strange from an airplane that designed around a giant Gatling gun, but times and battlefield needs are changing.
Also, modern or modernized tank armor getting a bit more resilient against 30mm shells, so an A-10 may need to get closer to the enemy to ensure a kill with the brrrrrr gun than the old days.

No Russian Su-25s were shot down in Ukraine. You lie. That's just lies of Ukrainian and Western propaganda. Nothing proves that. Though , Russian air-force and anti-aircraft defense snot down a few Ukrainian Su-25s.
Bigger SAMs or Anti Air System missiles from the USSR.
Decent damage for su25, minimal damage for a10.
I would much rather fly the warthog it can stay in the air 2 1/2 times longer and It can be armed to the teeth not just the main gun but multiple missiles rocket bombs just like the other one
The Su-25 has a higher speed than the A-10. The Su-25 has a higher climb rate. For pilots, this means that with the same threat from the ground, the Su-25 is less likely to be in a dangerous zone where it can be shot down by portable air defense systems. Both aircraft have been seriously upgraded since development and can carry missiles fired and forgotten. But the classic A-10 is built around a machine gun, the pilot had to hold the target for a few seconds, the classic Su-25 carried several unguided missiles that he had to fire at the accumulation of equipment or soldiers on the ground and no longer worrying about missiles to gain altitude. These few seconds are very important. Operators with manual air defense do not stand ready with missiles on their shoulders, they also need time to prepare for the shot.
The a10c's sniper pod is deadlier than that 300 kg waste of space called the avenger. The only time any pilot in a conventional war would use that gun is if the enemy ran out of AA missiles. The reason why the a10 can work is purely because it can lob PGMs way beyond the reach of MANPADs.

This is old news, that rocket hit the plane in February, a few days after the start of the war. And yes, ground attack planes are reinforced to resist. And the rocket was a light manpad one, a big AA rocket is tearing apart a warplane. Probably the Russian army will get close to Central Europe, this is the scope, the rest is just smoke. And a new curtain is built. Russian citizens will pay the price also. Poor and proud...as always...

@@iamnotreallyherenow nope, if you can imagine, I really use my upper part of the body... You know all the discussions are just smoke for us? You know this is not ending without Russia occupying the entire Ukraine and in 5 years making it Russia. Same as Belarus? Do you need a paint to see that NATO coming to Russian borders is not acceptable (as they say) but Russia coming to NATO borders is super? Why no one from their former servants wants to be with them, why do all eastern countries seek NATO protection? Is so hard to understand that not NATO run East Europe, was East Europe running to NATO? Propaganda is dangerous for the brain tissue...And by the way, my life was in both areas, so no one outside can tell me what and how. But many in the west have absolutely no idea what is going about. Russia is locked in time with the same feudal political system which Ivan the IV- the terrible started. In 1917 they changed just the name, the system was doing the same for the other people... Look at Putin in 1990s, and now, look what he said at that time about his relationship with the power...oh, just remember when Rusia closed the relations with NATO and why...
